These guys were great. Scott was so kind and helpful, got what we wanted and conveyed that message to Dave, our DJ for the night. Everyone had a great time, the music was perfect. The lighting they set up really set the atmosphere and helped the decor so much!

I give these guys credit for creating a perfect night!

Amazing!!!!!!!!!!!! We got a projector for our slideshow and blue lighting to go with the winter theme :) The music was fantastic as well, and the dj was full of energy!

True North D.J's did an amazing job at our wedding. There were more people on the dance floor than off and although my feet and legs were cramping and hurt like hell I could not leave the dance floor for fear of missing a song. The mixes were perfect, people had a wicked time. This was the exact vision I had and True North NAILED IT!!!! Do not hesitate to book with these guys, you will be glad you did!!

Scott made our wedding day easy and carefree! They provided our music for our outside ceremony and kept our guest entertained during cocktail hour. When we returned and were ready to start the party he was ready to go with our song selections as well! Absolutely superb service! I would highly recommend True North to anyone!

At the event Scott was spirited, yet professional. Read the crowd well, listened to our wishes and played songs we'd requested and made a point of connecting with us at the end of the night. We'd reccomend him in a heartbeat...and will.

Scott, the owner was our DJ.. he was AMAZING! Everyone was on the dance floor and he kept the party going all night. The music was great and he was hilarious as well.

The only reason I posted a 4 was because he didn't have our first song so it took a while to download it and get it hooked to the system, and we didnt do the garter toss.... which we were supposed to have.

I believe we found True North DJ by looking through various Halifax DJs websites and trying to find someone who could give us a six hour long dance for a reasonable price. These guys charged as much for that much music as some companies did for only three hours. So, that was the hook for me.

We met with Scott about ten months before the wedding so he could get a feel for the sort of atmosphere we wanted. We were super vague, yet he was still able to figure us out. He told us he doesn't play the chicken dance, but my bride-to-be insisted and he reluctantly told us that if the bride wants the chicken dance, that would be the only way he'd play it.

Scott was fun to talk to and meet with, but also had a very professional manner. You are given a contract, bill of sale, and receipts. With many other services we dealt with on our wedding day (limo, reception hall, etc.), we weren't given these things, and it was a big relief to know that these guys know what they are doing on the business aspects and it gave you a secure feeling that, yes, these guys will show up on time and play for as long as they are supposed to.

On the wedding day, we actually had Jody come out to be our DJ for the evening. He came over to chat us up during dinner and try to get a feel for what to play as well. We had about a half an hour lull between the end of eating and before the dance started, and people were starting to get kind of bored, and Jody started playing some light music just to set-up the mood. This is something we hadn't originally asked for because we didn't think it was necessary, but it totally was. Jody read the mood of the crowd perfectly and I think it helped to keep a lot of people from filtering out.

The first dance started at seven, and we had asked previously that we wanted guests to join us half way through the song. We had chosen "Crazy Love" by Van Morrison, which is actually a short song. But, Jody, who must have set this up before hand, made the announcement for everyone to join us, then seamlessly looped the song to make it stretch out longer. The bride didn't notice at all! It was great!

We had booked the dance for six hours because we really just wanted a big party for the reception. Things were a little rough at the start, since it was still early, the reception hall was still a little bright from daylight, and to be honest, people probably hadn't drunk enough yet to not be too shy. But, Jody went through a big range of music, from country to top 40 to classic rock to get people on the floor. Eventually, some beautiful combination of the sun setting, flowing booze, and great music got people to dance.

Jody was very accommodating to requests. The bride would walk up to the table, shout a song title (or just mime the chicken dance), then he'd give a thumbs up and it would be on within three minutes. He played anything we requested, no matter how bizarre it may have seemed to him. If he's wondering, Rage Against the Machine is a very old and very dear inside joke to us!

I guess I could sum up the experience with something my cousin told me during the fifth hour of our reception: "I hate your DJ. He doesn't let me stop dancing."

It was awesome. I have no complaints, and you guys went above and beyond my expectations. Every guest we talked to - the kids, our aunts and uncles, and our friends - said it was one of the most fun wedding receptions they had every been to and True North was a huge part of it. Thank you very much!

I was more than happy with my experience with True North DJ Services. We had our wedding this May and the music and uplighting was amazing, they were always very friendly, professional and helpful.. it couldn't have been any better!

Scott was awesome. We had a great meeting with him a week before the wedding and knew from there we were in good hands.

We had a small wedding but the dance floor almost always had people on it. The numbers dwindled as the night wore on but the people who were into it were still enthusiastically shaking it (ourselves included) and that was all that mattered to us. He really understood what music the crowd was into and played a lot of that.

The only thing we weren't 100 per cent happy with was that Scott didn't play as much of the ethnic music we provided him with as we'd hoped. I'm guessing this might have been because he was trying to keep as many people on the dance floor as possible but we think there are some members of our families who would've appreciated hearing some tunes they were familiar with.

Overall, though, Scott was great and we'd hire him again!

Scott at True North DJ's provided the perfect atmosphere for our wedding day. He provided his equipment and music at both our ceremony and reception sites, and did an excellent job.

Scott met with us prior to our wedding day, and went through what both the bride and I wanted in terms of music for our day. He was able to work both of our different tastes of music throughout the day, and did so wonderfully!!

Scott's choice of music during the dance portion of our reception was perfect. He was able to read the crowd very well, and had people up dancing all evening. I couldn't say enough good things about his music choices! Everyone in attendance had a great time!!

I also appreciated the positioning and layout of his equipment. The speakers were positioned around the dance floor so that the music was loud and bass was beating in the dance floor area, but it was at a lower volume in other sections of the room so that guests not wanting to dance could easily converse with each other without having to leave the room.

Scott did a great job with announcements that we requested he make. He did so in a professional yet relaxed manner. He didn't try to be a comedian or very vocal DJ throughout the evening - just played music like we wanted.

From our interactions with Scott, you can tell that he truly enjoys being a DJ and entertaining his guests. He seemed to put his heart and soul into his music, and actually cared about what he was doing. DJ'ing isn't just something he is doing to make a couple extra bucks on the side - he seems to be truly passionate about his services.

Overall, we were VERY happy with True North DJ services. We couldn't have had a better DJ, and attribute a large portion of the success and enjoyment our guests had at our reception to Scott. We HIGHLY recommend True North DJ Service to anyone needing a DJ.

True North DJ Services provided DJ services for our wedding. We made the arrangements directly with the owner. He listened to what we wanted very well, and he carefully selected one of his DJs to run our event; matching style style with ours. The DJ was great. Very professional and punctual. He respected our do not play list, and took many requests from our guests throughout the evening. He kept the party rocking late into the night. It has now been 4 months since the wedding, and everyone is STILL talking about how much fun they had. Thank you True North!

True North provided DJ services for our wedding, and we were BEYOND pleased with them.

True North DJ's were absolutely fabulous. The owner Scott Rideout was fantastic. From day one I knew he was the DJ service for me because he was friendly, organized, and explained everything fully. Throughout the whole wedding planning process he was helpful and quick to respond to any questions or requests I had for our wedding. Our DJ during the wedding, Matt, was also wonderful. He played a variety of music that kept the dance floor going until the lights came on. He also stayed right on schedule as per my requests and was extremely poliet and friendly. Scott was very professional and always got back to us in a timely manner. he was even willing to make small changes at the last minute on our wedding day to help us out. The day of he was a blast! Very responsive to emails and requests made prior to the wedding, we had no worries at all. He played to the crowd and even during our kissing game during the dinner, he was hilarious at adding in music to go along with it, which we hadn't planned. We received tons of compliments on the music and he kept everyone out on the dance floor for the majority of the night. He also played about half an hour past when the party should have stopped as everyone was still up dancing!

If you need a DJ for your wedding, you need to pick Scott!

True North provided uplighting and DJ services for our wedding. Scott was excellent to deal with during planning and did a great job with our wedding reception. The lighting was beautiful and added a lovely touch to the room. Everyone raved about the dance and how great our DJ was, they said they had a wonderful time.
