I worked with Truly Your's on a large party and like Lottfish, the pros and cons were similar.

The food was fine, rather "common" catered food for a decent price. They charged $65 pp and there was a meat carving station, a pasta bar, a quesadilla station, an ice cream bar and a served salad. The food was good, in no way amazing, but what you would expect for the price point. The crew was efficient, professional, and polite. They were well-staffed in the size of the team. They also accommodated a last minute request from the venue to have felt pads on the wood chairs and did not charge.

But the cons were big. The table arrangement did not work. Despite coming to the site and planning a table arrangement, it did not fit the venue. I pointed out several times during the meeting that I thought it would not work. They insisted that they knew what they were doing. They changed it once they arrived and set up but did not consult us and threw the seating arrangement completely off causing a major last minute scramble. They also told another vendor to move his set up (again without consulting anyone), interrupting the floor plan, and it caused that vendor to not be set up until the very last minute.

Like Lottfish, Chris balked at feeding some of the the coordinators (basically me and another friend of the family who were working all day) despite being told it was "ok" and seeing us there for hours. He had to be convinced telling me "coordinators can get in trouble" Even if this was the case, it would be between me and the host. It'd be like me telling his crew they could not take a break; it would not be my place as they are not my crew.

They would not provide an emergency contact phone number. When I asked, I was told they don't give out cell phone numbers but I could call the office up until 2 PM to reach someone. 2 PM, 2 hours before set up and 5 hours before the event. I was told 'nothing can be changed now anyway".

And their Coordinator and Chris were not pleasant or nice. Their demeanor was gruff. And you really want to deal with pleasant, nice vendors.

I was not a COORDINATOR but a friend of the family helping. Even their response is gruff- and worse yet, their food is mediocre. They claim not to make table arrangements but their representative did interfere that day and really caused a huge problem when they rearranged the tables. My friend who threw the party said she would also not recommend them

I understand that these forums are free for anyone to comment- which is why I'm thankful to be given the opportunity to respond.

First, let me point out that the review is not made by the bride or groom but by another vendor- the coordinator. There are many coordinator's that we work with - which are accredited and we can highly recommend- and many that are not. We do about 350 weddings a year and have for the past 12 years- therefore we have quite literally done thousands and we have found that the key to be a good caterer or coordinator is sometimes just saying "no" to things that we know will not work. This is a case of a coordinator who so desperately wanted to please their client- that some of their mistakes were clear and didn't want to listen to our advice. This is why I so strongly suggest that when we do the "final" meeting that the coordinator attend so that things can be cleared up while everyone is sitting in the same room. This did not happen with this coordinator.

First- as to the price- our price not includes the food, but also the rentals, the staffing, the clean-up and even some of the coordination- we do the timeline and schematic for every bride and take about 2 hours of time with every client to go over details.

We do NOT do table arrangements. We give the bride a computerized schematic where everything is measured to fit- when things do not we explain the alternatives. Many times coordinators change things around- even after we do the schematics and don't pay attention to our advice. We only advise- if they chose not to listen- there isn't much we can do. Ultimately, the BRIDE chooses the table arrangements and numbers the tables accordingly.

When something is off- we as a team must set-up and entire dining area in 90 minutes- we do not have the time to argue on the day of the event. we do what we feel is best and will meet the fire codes laid out to us by the facility. Ultimately, this is the determining factor.

As for feeding the coordinators and other vendors the bride signs a CONTRACT where it is perfectly explained that we do NOT feed any vendors until all guests have been fed dinner. Our priority is our client- the bride and groom and their guests. My staff, which arrive HOURS prior to any coordinator - or any other vendor is LAST to be fed- even after all other vendors- though we work the most amount of hours. If the bride did not communicate the contract- which she signed to the coordinator prior- it is not our concern or our job. Again- we find it rude and un-professional for guests when they see the vendors being fed prior to them- or prior to the Bride and Groom- and all professional vendors make arrangements to bring snacks for themselves and eat prior to the event.

I will admit that the chef's demeanor- Chris in this case- can be gruff at times- as we are on the tightest deadline and have spent hours already with the client on the smallest of details. we have to come in and build a complete restaruant in around 90 minutes and make it look seamless- with no hassle to our client. Our priority is ALWAYS to our bride and grooms- and just about all walk away feeling we did the best job without a bother to them. Our motto is to allow the bride and groom to enjoy the event- without a worry.

Truly Yours catered my March 24th wedding at Malibou Lake Mountain Club. They worked with us for over a year on our menu, beverage options & linens.
Roxy was there to guide us every step of the way. She was always pleasant no matter what we were discussing, she even helped us to save money a few times.
Although I never actually met Chris, he did make the food for our tasting & I hear that he's also very pleasant to work with.

I would highly recommend Truly Yours Catering to anyone looking for a fantastic catering company.

I worked with Chris and Alicia at Truly Yours and have pro and cons to going with them.

Pros: The prices are great. Their prices include all waitstaff, tables, chairs, settings, etc. and I was even able to rent my generator, dance floor, and shuttles through them. It was great to have a one stop shop like that.

I also thought the food was amazing! I got many compliments. He was also willing to work with me when I wanted a special chocolate dipping bar and he created a special set-up just for my wedding.

They were on time and set-up up everything beautifully. The reception looked great!

They didn’t tear down anything before the party was completely over and I appreciate that.

The waitstaff was so friendly! The looked nice were able to laugh and have a good rapport with my guests.

Cons: Chris and Alicia can both be a little scatter-brained and I had to remind them of things several times. Alicia was supposed to get me the set-up the week before the wedding so that I could label it with table numbers and how many settings needed to be at each table. She never sent it (luckily I gave a drawing to my doc) and the day before the wedding she calls me to tell me she’s emailing it and wanted to know if I could fax it back to her. I told her I was on my way to my rehearsal dinner and she’d have to work with my doc. Why she called me and not my doc in the first place is beyond me.

I also explained to Chris before the wedding that I wanted my photographer and videographer to be served their food before the guests so that they would be done eating by the time my guests were served and we were going around to the tables. Chris refused to do this. I just don’t understand the mind of a caterer who will not do what the bride and groom wish for no other reason than he just doensn’t think that’s the way it should be done.

I also heard from some of my guests afterwards that the waitstaff was clearing half-eaten plates and drinks that only had a few sips taken out of them. When my guests would go to the bathroom they’d come back to find their plate gone.

The last major issue I had with them was that I had a 100 person cake and 67 guests however many of my guests (two whole tables) said they never got any cake. I don’t understand what happened. From the pictures it looks like they were just cutting the slices way too big.

Honestly, I found Chris and Alicia to be a pain to work with (Alicia more so than Chris) but I couldn’t beat the pricing they offered for the quality of food/rentals I was getting.

Truly Yours is truly an amazing caterer! I cannot believe how affordable their prices were and the food...HOLY COW!...it is so good. My husband and I are still talking about it. All I have to say is Mac and Cheese and Mashed Potatoes. They were so professional to work with. I was a little worried since they had never done a wedding at my location but they knew exactly what they were doing. My coordinator also had wonderful things to say about them. And as an added bonus, Roxy is giving us a CD of pics that her staff took on our wedding day, I thought that was really nice! I hope to be able to have another event I can hire them to cater again someday!

Truly Yours is the exclusive caterer of Malibou Lake. They were pretty easy to work with in the beginning; however, they went through some transition midway throughout our planning that created some confusion as far as pricing that we were initially quoted by the first catering director (who also doubled as the site coordinator for Malibou Lake). Overall, the quality of the food was good. We had to rely on the feedback we got from our family and friends since neither my husband and I ate much that day.

We booked Truly Yours for our wedding after sampling their food and seeing their prices.

One of the best things about Truly Yours is that they are an all-inclusive shop with respect to the food, the tables, chairs, dance floor, lighting, shuttles, etc. That's a huge help when trying to plan a wedding without spending thousands of dollars on someone else to do all of that stuff for you.

Secondly, they had great food. We went in for a couple of tastings, to refine exactly what we wanted, and when we did (we mixed the meat from one dish and the sauce from another) it was perfect. The day of our wedding, we received tons of compliments on the food, and we enjoyed it thoroughly as well (although honestly, at your wedding, you won't have that much time to eat.)

Finally, Chris & Roxy, and their entire team, really know what they're doing. Especially if you're working at a venue where they've catered a bunch, like we did (the Adamson House FYI). The entire event went smoothly, and in the weeks leading up to the event, it was clear that Chris has a lot of experience, as he helped track down the State Park guy for our meeting (and did the first part of the walk-through for him while we waited for him to arrive).

Anyways, all-in-all, Truly Yours Catering was fantastic. We had great food, we had a single point of contact for ~60% of the things we needed for the wedding, and their prices are much much more reasonable than other caterers that we checked out.

I used Truly Yours for my wedding at Rancho Del Cielo, he knows the property well and that was good enough for me. The food was great though, and he was really nice and funny...the price point is good, they are easy to work with. Totally recommend Chris all the way :)

I worked with Joann at Truly Yours and I was very pleased with our wedding. Everything went pretty easy, she worked well with my coordinator to take care of a lot of details with the venue, timing, etc. I had to follow up a couple of times to make sure things would be taken care of, but that's just my personality. She was very nice and responsive to all of my emails. The staff was efficient and on time with everything. The food looked amazing as well as tasted good. We did heavy hor'deurves and a carving station. At this price, I dont think you could find better catering in LA for your event.

I worked with Chris and Roxy (husband & wife). Chris is a little rough around the edges but their food is so yummy...very unlike your typical 'wedding food.' All I have to say is, they know what they're doing. So even though I felt a tad rush during the planning process, on the day of, everything was amazing.

My sister was just married at the Malibu West Swim Club this past weekend and I could not have been more impressed with Truly Yours Catering! I acted as coordinator for my sister so I was in on every meeting with every vendor- but Truly Yours Truly stood out! I was sent all the information for helping to plan the wedding- before I even thought of it. They were very kind towards me and my sister- and on the wedding day especially attentive to my grandparents which I really appreciated! The staff was friendly and helpful and never intruded. The food was GREAT my guests were amazed at how good the food was! No one ever expects much of wedding food- but the salmon was the best I had ever tasted! Roxy and Chris - who own the company work well as a team and truly care about the bride and the event. There was so much help always offered and so attentive. They made my sisters day and really made mine. I didn't think I would be able to enjoy the wedding as I would be working- but they handled everything from lighting the candles- to suggesting our vendors- to communicating directly with them on the day of the wedding and double checking before I had to. I LOVED working with Truly Yours! I was married on March 28th- and I was thrilled with the outcome. They took care of everything for me. Like most brides I was on a tight budget and did not have the money for a coordinator, They helped me all the way through the wedding. Chris and Roxy answered all of my questions, and they helped me find some great vendors reasonably priced. All were professional. The nicest thing was that they were in touch with me- at least by e-mail at least once a week. Far beyond what some of my other married friends said about their caterers. Many of them got no help in anything but the food- which is really all I expected.

Truly Yours however have these great blog which helped me tremendously. They helped in sending me a site with pictures of my wedding venue all done up- that was a GREAT help! They also have a blog with lots of wedding advice- another element which I found useful. The vendors they recommended were also great! I saved a lot of money by going with one of their DJ's and the florist they referred me to!

I had a nice menu with a lot of choices for my guests. The site raved about them- and they handled all the clean-up at the end of the night. The staff was larger than I expected which was great- and all were very friendly! On my wedding day I did nothing but enjoy my friends and family- all of the details were handled by close family friends and Truly Yours. It was nice to truly enjoy my day! I would highly recommend them to anyone. They make it easy- and the price is great since rentals are all included!

If you are thinking about using this caterer for you wedding, don't do it. They are unprofessional, treat their staff horribly, and the food is horrible. Sure they are cheap, but you get what you pay for. And the owner is a very angry rough around the edges guy who yells at his employees. In fact, I know for a fact that the staff get paid horribly and the catering company keep all tips.

I think their are other options, unless of course you want a one stop shop caterer. Which is kinda scary because that means that they don't do anything well.

I assure all of my brides and grooms that you will be VERY pleased with our staff and we take great pains in training people that are friendly, well groomed, and feel that service is key to any and all events. Most of our staff have been with us for well over 1 to 2 years minimum and it is unfortunate that this one person would risk future business which could affect all of the other wonderful employees that we have. All employees are well paid and well taken care of- and all are happy and grateful to work with us- as we see them as family.

I had such a GREAT experience with Chris and Roxy that I had to post it! Out of all my vendors they were by far the most helpful- and the most flexible. I was married at my dad's home in Malibu and they took such great care of the property- which was one of my main concerns. I had heard horror stories from other brides about kitchen being ruined or properties left a mess- and I have to say the property when Truly Yours' Staff left was as neat and clean as when they arrived. I was on a tight budget and wanted to give my guests something nice- but I couldn't afford a coordinator- and Roxy and Chris were kind enough to walk me all the way through everything! The blog is great as are the pictures they send out weekly! They even put me in touch with some other brides which eased my mind. Everyone had nice things to say. It's true Chris can be a little rough around the edges, but I realized he truly cared about my wedding. He told me what would work and what wouldn't- and best of all gave me the reasons as to why! So many other caterers I spoke with just said "no" with no explanations. I found the staff professional, helpful, and friendly. Overall, despite the heat- the day was perfect! I would highly recommend them to anyone that wanted a worry-free wedding. They even photographed my wedding and I got a CD of 200 pics the next week all as a "Thank You"! That was one of the nicest surprises! My family and friends were so happy about the food, the service, and just everything!

Truly Yours did an amazing job! I also work in a service industry and it's so difficult to find people who are professional, friendly, and take the client seriously! Chris and Roxy and their entire staff embodied what GREAT service should be! I was thrilled with the food, my guests are still talking about the food and asking for recipe's. I was just so happy with the service that I got with ALL the planning, much more than I ever thought a caterer would give me! They are definitely worth the initial phone call and their knowledge with my venue, Greystone far surpassed all other caterers I spoke too!

Truly Yours came highly recommended by our venue- Adamson House. I was so glad on my wedding day that I went with them. I had tried other caterers and all seemed as if they had no idea what they were doing. Truly Yours made my wedding day the most flawless day- and stress fee! I had a terrible coordinator who didn't do much the day of the wedding but cause my family heartache- the captain Truly Yours Had there that day was much more of a coordinator than my coordinator. She jumped right in and ran the party. My family was so impressed by her! The food was superb! I had Filet Mignon- white steamed baby asparagus, and potatoes au gratin- perfect! I was very impressed by the staff too- everyone was friendly and very attentive to me and my husband- and to my guests- even to the kids! I didn't get one complaint from anyone. I do have to say though- I did notice in their contract that they feed all the vendors after the guests- which is something my husband and I signed on. I know a lot of vendors have a problem with that- but really it makes sense. I wanted my guests to be fed first not the vendors. I noticed that the Truly Yours employees were fed after even the vendors- so they are considerate in that way. I don't know how normal it is compared to other companies- but really I felt my guests should come first since they are my main priority. I would highly recommend this company to any and all!
