University Club of Grand Rapids

The staff are so great to worrk with and you know that they really care about making the reception wonderful.

I cannot say enough great things about the University Club! My reception was perfect and I owe it to Katie and the rest of the staff at the University Club. I loved the view and the food was great!! The best part of our reception was watching the fireworks go off while my husband and I were dancing (fireworks were from a baseball game and we could see them clearly from the University Club). The whole night was perfect. Katie took care of all of the major details. Thanks Katie!!!

I cannot say enough great comments about my experience with the University Club. Every little request I made to make my day special was accomodated and the staff is top notch. I was really impressed with their responsiveness during the whole planning process and patience with a high maintanance bride. Additionally, on the day of the food was excellent, room looked great, and they really stayed on top of all of my requests and kept the party going great without letting it get out of control. I had a couple of rowdy guests that they handled with class and professionalism. All in all, I would recommend the University Club as an excellent venue for a wedding.

The University Club went above and beyond our expectations. Everything was perfect and we coulnt have asked for anything more on our wedding day. An amzing facility and staff with the best view in Grand Rapids! Our day was perfect!

The University Club was a perfect venue for us! Great location in the center of everything in Grand Rapids with beautiful views. The majority of our guests were from out of town and really enjoyed the "downtown experience." Michelle was incredibly helpful with all my questions and special requests and didn't try to talk me into anything. Very flexible and accommodating. I loved the layout of the club, having multiple rooms for my guests to enjoy. The food was good, service was excellent. But the value we got for our money was most important to us.

We loved using the University Club for our reception. They were very helpful setting things up and working with what we wanted to do and our budget. The day of went VERY smoothly and I have heard great things from our guest about the University Club... and you cant beat the view!!

Because of this being a private club we were able to have an event coordinator at no extra cost. Everything was set up when we got there the day of the wedding and the food was hot and delicious!

The UClub provided our reception site, catering, bar, and linens, and they were absolutely wonderful the day of the wedding. The service was great, the food was great, and the facility looked beautiful. Also, Michelle was very flexible and was great to work with in general. The only reason I did not give them all fives is because I felt like the UClub had a lot of hidden costs that I didn't really know about when we booked them. For instance, though the rental price was extremely reasonable, we then had to pay extra for the dance floor, pay extra for the lounge used for the cocktail hour, and had I wanted our head table elevated, we would've had to pay extra for that. Perhaps it's my fault for not reading the info they gave us closely enough, but I guess I was just caught off guard by all the extra costs. Also, while I respect their right to book their entire facility on any given night, the UClub is pretty small, and there was another party going on in their North lounge during our reception. I guess that just bothered me a little bit, but it definitely wasn't a big deal. Overall, I had a great experience with the UClub, and they let our Day-of Coordinator get in early enough to set up the reception, which was very helpful and allowed her to get back to the ceremony site before the ceremony started. I would just be aware of the extra costs if you book the UClub.

The club was nice and has a great view of Downtown Grand Rapids.

The University Club is located in downtown Grand Rapids and overlooks the Calder and the Grand River. It is a wonderful room that fits up to 250 people with low ceilings to give a cozy feeling. It was nice because it took care of the catering and wedding cake. We were able to have two free meals to choose what we wanted and the food was amazing! The wedding cake was also superb. However, on the day of the wedding, the sizes of the cake pieces being served were hardly adequate. They were slivers of cake, not pieces of cake. And in the end we had mountains of cake to bring home with us. Luckily they realized they were at fault and reimbursed us for the amount of cake that was leftover.

The University Club is on the top floor of the 5/3 Bank Bldg and has a fanatastic view of dowtown Grand Rapids at night. Michelle was easy to work with and helped make our day a special one. The food was fantastic and we heard many positive comments from our guests. They do have someone who can provide/make wedding cakes but he was not able to make the design that we chose for our cake and so we chose another vendor for this. I would recommend the UClub to other brides and grooms. It is a beautiful facility.

I have had the pleasure of working with the University Club twice as an event coordinator. They are so very friendly, organized, and eager to please. The facility is always spotless and they make sure to set it up exactly as discussed. On the big day they are always well staffed and events go off without a hitch. They are willing to work with a couple on special requests such as incorporating local food and beverages or accommodation of unique themes. The views of the vibrant city are bountiful from this perch atop the skyline. UC is a great place to hold your wedding reception or any lovely party for that matter!
