I was really stressing about my cake and wanting it to be perfect! When I saw the cake I was very happy with the way it turned out. The lady took her time and showed up different designs and spent like 2 hours with us. She also let us taste all the flavors! Yumo!

We got our cake at Van's bakery. They are pretty straightforward when it comes to wedding cakes. They pretty much gave us what we asked for, and even let us pick 2 fillings for each layer. Had no problems with set up and delivery.

I came to Van's because most of my friends use them and they are the cheapest around. But this is the case of you get what you pay for. We did a tasting, and when we got the cake, it didn't taste like how we tasted at the tasting. There were cracks in the frosting and the ribbon color was slightly off. My florist did a great job in covering up the defects and I loved the cake simply because the flowers on the cake was so beautiful. I'm not sure if they did a poor job on the cake because they knew that it will be covered with flowers. But, I didn't appreciate the fact that my cake was a little on the imperfect side. So, if you are looking for a cheap cake, I recommend them, but don't expect cream of the crop with their pricing. Overall, I am satisfied only because I knew what I paid for.

We order our cake from the branch in Temple City. We show them a custom design of cake that we like and they said they can do it, but we were disappointed with the results. The decor and piping skill on the cake were messy and looks like amateur; really was a (bad) surprise. The taste of the cake is not bad at all, but we were very disappointed with the result of the design. They actually charge me $100 extra for having custom design but it's really not worth paying. So a little advise for future bride, just stick to the design they have coz we don't think they can do other design besides for the one they display on the store or the pictures. Also, we buy the cake topper from them and we just found out from our wedding pictures that the cake topper they gave was defective (broken) so if you buy the cake topper from them, might as well keep it and just place it on the cake yourself on the wedding day. On the bright side, the delivery was actually on time.

If you want a CHEAP and BEAUTIFUL wedding cake, this is THE place to go. If you have a vision - bring in a photo - they can do anything your heart desires...BUT warning - if you are high maintenance, too anal, and will flip out if your vendor does not respond adequately, go elsewhere. This is the place for the low maintenance bride who wants to save money, but either has a super patient attitude or super awesome wedding coordinator who can fulfill the aforementioned when dealing with said vendor. If you can, make sure you have a friend who speaks Mandarin, Cantonese or Vietnamese when you go in to pick your cake and pay, otherwise, you will be fairly frustrated communicating with them. Don't lose your receipt for when and if you call to change your cake flavors (as I did), and to remind them of your upcoming wedding a week before the big day. Our cake was for 250 guests, 4 tiers, absolutely gorgeous and delicious, without any flowers (it's so easy to use flowers to decorate it .. but umm it's not edible) and got TONS of compliments and all for under $400. That is a steal! I'd add a photo if I could but trust me when I say - it was gorgeous!!!!!

Van made our cake GORGEOUS! We gave her a picture of a cake we liked. It was better than we ever expected. She matched the exact colors and designs. I love the look of fondant but the taste of butter cream - with her cakes, you could not tell the difference! We received numerous compliments on our beautiful cake. The only thing I wish I had addressed with her was the color of the foil she used to wrap the bases of each layer - they were gold and clashed a bit with our silver motif. Also, we rented a silver cake stand but it never made it. Otherwise, the cake was on time and look like perfection!

The cake was a custom design, and it turned out beautifully! We were so happy with not only the look, but the taste as well.

Not bad. Not the cheapest, but not the most expensive either. The selections are pretty good. But let me tell you something-- the taste is perfect for Asians. Not too sweet, just right! The problem with most vendors is they overload the cake with sugar, and most of us Asians just hate those overly sugar coated cakes. But Van's Bakery is just about right.
One thing to note is that they have different costs depending on whether you choose to get flowers from them or from your own flower vendor. We used our own flower vendor because of what others have said about Van's flowers. Also, make sure to return the pedestals and other things or else they'll actually charge you.
Overall, quick, easy, simple, and the taste is perfect for Asian taste-buds. I'd recommend.

Van's bakery was very affordable and had many designs. We chose their strawberry cake and it was perfect since we had so much to eat at dinner.

If you're looking for a good deal with excellent service, Van's Bakery is your place. They had many designs to choose from and were able to deliver on time. We were very happy with their design and the lightness of their cake.

The cake was exceptional! However, the service sucks. Initially, they quoted us a price of $200 to decorate the cake with real flowers. We decided to go with our florist to do it, and then they said that they would charge $100 because we decided to go with someone else. If we would have known that, (a) we wouldnt have book with them, or (b) we wouldnt ask for live flowers, and just ask for that later. The cake base price is all cataloged in writing, but not the add-ons.

I got my cake here after my friend recommended the place to me. I loved it! My chocolate cake with fresh strawberries was so moist and tasty and for a great value. I got a four-tiered cake for $280 that fed over 200 people. They decorated my cake plain with just tiny white dots and with a ribbon around each tier since my florist did most of the decorating for the cake.
The only problem is with communication. There's only one lady that takes care of the cake department. When my fiancee and I went to her, she was already helping another couple, so we stuck around close to them to make sure she saw us. We waited for quite some time, until another couple came and grabbed her attention. I don't know if we weren't agressive enough, but I wish they had some sort of system that allows customers to get assistance according to who came first. She was very helpful when we finally got a chance to speak with her.
However, calling the bakery is very frustrating. None of the workers speak English very well, so it's hard to get answers. I felt like I had to go there to get questions answered and details finalized, which was a bit of a nuisance.

You just can't find a cheaper cake. WE got a 5 tier cake that serves 250 for $500, and that included flowers! The cake is excellent with great fillings. The only thing you have to be careful of is...they can be a little tacky. I wanted green hydrangea on my cake; I took in a picture and said if they couldn't get green hydrangea I wanted just white roses. I was mortified when I got to the reception and saw that the cake had died green hydrangeas on it! It looked so tacky!

we initially didn't care about taste or design - we just wanted something cheap (it's going to eaten up anyways) - so that's why we chose van's bakery. to our delight, it was not only cheap but tasty as well! the berries and cream were fresh and nothing was too sweet. some guests were sad that they couldn't get seconds. the quality of the piping wasn't perfect but, trust me, perfection really doesn't matter.

Van's bakery has many many beautiful cakes to choose from and they are great for people on a budget. The cake tasted great and looked great!

Can't compete with their pricing even though their service is a little lacking. Cake wasn't the top on my list so I went buget friendly on this item. I was plesantly surprise by the look of the cake day of and the cake tasted great.

The cake was delicious. We ordered mocha rum and mango cake. I love mocha rum but my husband loves mango and all our guests love the cake. Unfortunately, we requested to have half half cake so the guest got to pick whichever cake flavor they want. Their design is beautiful too.

Our cake from Van’s was both beautiful and super delectable. We gave Van’s a picture of what we are looking for, and they far exceeded our expectation. The cake was absolutely gorgeous! We got taro and mango flavors, but we ended up with taro and mocha flavors instead. But the mocha tasted just fine (but the taro was divine). I enjoyed the cake so much that I kept taking bites during the cake cutting. Our cake was a 3-tier cake for $240. Divine. Email me for pics – they did a wonderful job on the cake!

I ordered a 3 tier cake in 3 different flavors. For 150 ppl, it was $200 with a $50 delivery charge(since they were so far from my reception site). All my guests raved about the cake, they were actually ‘taking’ seconds from other tables, so some people came back to empty tables with no cake! They speak decent English, showed up on time, and were able to create my simple, elegant cake based on a picture.
Note: My florist (Judy Anne Flowers) decorated the cake with the orchids.

They make beautiful and delicious cakes. They are the best. As far as wedding cakes go, they are not expensive for what you get. We had one feeding 250 people. The cake was so elegant and regal. We went for the fresh orchid and they just popped out of the cake. They dressed the cake with the flowers like it was wearing a beautiful off to one shouder grecian dress. Our photos are lovely! Highly recommend to check them out.
