We read mixed reviews on yelp... but decided to have a tasting anyway and had a wonderful experience!Our wedding cake was a three tiered square cake... it was stacked perfectly with sharp corners and totally straight sides... my husband and i are very detail oriented! Not only was it beautiful... but delicious!!! ALL OF OUR GUESTS LOVED IT!!! Definitely a great place to get your cake :)

The cupcakes speak for themselves. We're big foodies and we used Vanilla Bake Shop to do a dessert table with cupcakes, tarts, cake pops, macaroons and a little two tiered cake. Everything was delicious! We did a tasting here and at another leading wedding bakery in the area and really felt like not only was it no competition in terms of taste, but the prices ended up being significantly cheaper. We were very happy with the results and still go there regularly just to eat cupcakes :)

The Vanilla Bake Shop was awesome! Our cake designer offered great suggestions on flavors and designs. It turned out better then we imagined! Everyone says one of the best parts of the wedding was the cake :)

My wedding cake was so beautiful and delicious! I brought it my design idea and they did an amazing job bringing it to life. The cake itself was just YUM! It was moist and incredible and the frosting wasn't too sugary. When we initially had our tasting at VBS I was so impressed with the treatment we received. They were the only shop that offered us milk and coffee (instead of just water) when we arrived. I was a little nervous that their prices would be outrageous because every cake I saw was more beautiful than the next and everything we tasted was amazing. I was SO pleasantly surprised when the cake came in under budget! Thank you VBS! I would highly recommend them to anyone who is looking for an amazingly delicious cake that also happens to be perfectly gorgeous and affordable. I am truly impressed. We saved the cake top for our first anniversary and I am REALLY looking forward to eating it. Although, I have to admit I will probably be stopping by the store to pick up more goodies well before then!!!

We were impressed from the moment we met at the tasting. We dropped in with out and appointment and they had all the cakes we wanted to taste ready within a few moments. We provided a vague idea of what we wanted the cake to look like and they created a beautiful cake. It was delicious a moist and we LOVED it. They also let us choose multiple flavors and they used butter cream instead of fondant which was REALLY important to us. The cake looked so beautiful.

We LOVE this cupcake shop! My husband and I use to go twice a week, back when we worked very near to it. The cake they delivered was the most delicious, amazingly tasty thing we've ever eaten. Even more delicious than the desserts they have in the store. I have two main problems with them as a wedding cake provider. 1)They weren't very good at getting back to me about anything other than the tasting appointment. Designs and paying them was surprisingly slow. 2)The person who attempted to design my cake was very uninspired. I'm not convinced she even tried at all. I gave the woman a few ideas of things I liked and she gave me the most boring watered down cake designs I'd ever seen. In the end, I ended up designing it myself by incorporating two or three of the cake designs together in a clean, tasteful way. I was disappointed about that. Also, I ordered it without fondant. I wanted smooth icing. I got fondant. It was an incredibly cake and everyone loved. People were literally stealing other people's cakes. So if they can improve those aspects of their service, they'd be 5 stars.

While Vanilla Bake Shop was more expensive then other bakeries, we got a great cake. The process was extremely smooth and they turned a simple drawing into a amazing beach themed cake

we tried cupcakes from at least 7 different bakeries! vanilla bake shop was THE BEST tasting by a loooong shot. Even after we decided to choose them, we have been kind of cupcake connoisseurs searching for a better cupcake and just have not been able to find one. not crumbs, not portos, not everything bundt cakes,.. non of them even come close. .. and they are also very pretty and competitively priced

Our catering package from our venue provided cake from Vanilla Bake Shop. I was pretty excited to have them as our cake vendor because I've only heard great things about this place. When we went for the tasting, it might have been the batch we were trying because we were unimpressed with the cake. However, we were impressed with Stephanie from VBS. She was patient in going over cake designs with us and provided a wonderful drawing mockup - which she emailed to us. On the day of the wedding, our cake was absolutely beautiful and it was delicious. Many people came up to us and complimented us on our cake!

One day R proposed to A and she accepted. This of course meant that we would have a wedding and also that R and A would need a wedding cake. Oh what to do??? We thought about different cake options and eventually decided on cupcakes. We then looked at several bakeries Vanilla Bake Shop included. There was one or two that were cheaper and one that was about the same price... but there was none that was as delicious. We simply LOVED their cupcakes!!! They had multiple varieties of utter yumminess! We chose 5 (Meyer lemon raspberry, mint chocolate, birthday cake, strawberries & cream, black & white). Then for the coups de gras, our cake topper was a 7 layer chocolate and peanut butter… The Good Lord can come and get me now!It’s only been a few weeks, but we continue to receive compliments on both how beautiful the cupcake tower was, as well as how delicious the cupcakes were. We’ve also been told how much fun everyone had tasting them all. Thank you Vanilla Bake Shop for helping to make our wedding day just that much more amazing!As a ps...2 1/2 months later, we finished our cake top. We both agree it was still delicious despite the fact that we had not taken all precautions when freezing/storing it.

Vanilla Bakeshop did a spectacular job on our wedding cupcake tower. Kim was very friendly and accommodating during our cupcake tasting and was extremely responsive throughout the planning process. The tower was setup in a timely manner on the day-of. The cupcakes were delicious, and many of our guests complimented us on how beautiful and customized it looked. Our cake topper even matched the fabric we provided for the tower panels. The setup and delivery fee was non-negotiable, but they were flexible in allowing us to return the tower 2 days later.

Amy is amazing. The cake turned out perfect. She took our theme and ran with it to make the most beautiful cake ever. We had a fall theme and our cake looked perfect with the entire decor. I received so many compliments from friends and family on how beautiful the cake looked and how good it tasted. The cake was moist and melted in our mouths. Thanks again Vanilla Bake Shop!

My cake was one of the most gorgeous parts of the wedding! I was absolutely in love with it that even my husband did not want to cut into it when it was time to cut the cake. It was absolutely breathtaking!! Amy is a true artist! She created a 6 tier pale pink cake, with diamond and black satin trim to match the wedding perfectly. She followed every detail I gave her to a T!! It was a classy, beautiful understated cake just like its creator! Amy was attentive and fantastic during our tasting and choosing of the cake. She made it so fun and simple - it was the easiest thing I had to do for the wedding!I even ordered the dessert shots and had them served with each slice of cake and it was such a hit!! Everyone was talking about the cake and dessert shots! I was happy that it didn't just look gorgeous but tasted heavenly too! I truly recommend this bakery to any bride! VBS was able to create a cake from a photograph that I found to suit my wedding theme. They didn't make me choose something from their list of previously made cake designs. The cake was beautiful and was absolutely delicious. They use the best ingredients. They are easy going and very helpful. They made the selection of the cake and design an enjoyable event for my husband and I. They delivered on time and in perfect condition for the reception. They deserve 5 stars!

OMG! The most delicious and beautiful cupcake tower ever. People are still talking about the cupcakes we had at our wedding. We chose VBS over other shops that were less expensive and literally up the street from the reception venue. Not only were the cupcakes delicious, the service was fantastic. This is what sold us. As my fiance put it, "I want love baked into our cake. I'm willing to pay more." It was worth it. The pain is having to buy your own material for the tower and returning the (very heavy) tower to the shop to avoid a steep pick up charge. The cake topper was beautiful and exactly what I had asked for in terms of theme.

We had a three tier cake that was flawless, beautiful, and delicious. Our cake was modern design with orchids adorned on it by our florist. The flavors were Vanilla Lemon Berry (my favorite!), Southern Dark Chocolate Banana Pudding, and Red Velvet.

We highly recommend Vanilla Bake Shop! The tasting was so fun, with many cake flavors and decorations to suit any theme. We chose the fleur de sel cake, and it was amazing! Our guests commented on how good the cake was as well. We have been back to VBS many times since our wedding, and started a tradition of having a fleur de sel cake on our anniversary.

I came to Vanilla Bake Shop with a very specific design of how I wanted my wedding cake, and they executed it flawlessly. It was a difficult design, that could have ended in disaster, but they seemed confident from the beginning that they would be able to create my masterpiece... and they did! Everyone raved at the wedding about the amazing taste of the red velvet cake, and a few of our "engaged" friends have chosen to use Vanilla Bake Shop for their upcoming weddings. We had a few issues scheduling our inital meeting with the company, and we felt like we were not given the best treatment. We considered not choosing the company because of this treatment. However, the situation was dealt with and apologized for very quickly after I brought it to the attention of my wedding coordinator.The cake was beautiful, tasted great, and overall, I'm very, very happy with my experience with Vanilla Bake Shop.

We decided not to move forward with the Vanilla Bake Shop because for what we were looking for it was bit out of our budget. However the tasting and consultation was great! We tried 7 different cupcakes and had two different cake shots! Everything was super yummy!

We decided to forgo the traditional wedding cake and went with an assorted dessert bar instead - Mini cupcakes, tarts, parfaits, cookies, etc. It was nothing short of both beautiful and delicious. We were told to count 2-3 items per guest, but would have been better off counting 4-5 (people wanted one of everything).

I've been consuming Vanilla Bake Shop mini cupcakes for as long as they've been open (I wish they had a frequent cupcake-eater card) and I couldn't imagine having any other bakery provide these sweet treats for our wedding. My cupcake obsession was in full force for our wedding and manifested itself in the form of a cupcake tower composed of 2 of my most favorite cupcake flavors: luscious strawberries and cream with vanilla bean cupcake and the divine fleur de sel caramel. The tower was topped off with a square strawberries and cream cake- decorated with fresh yellow billy button flowers and succulents for our southern California themed wedding. Our guests raved about the cupcakes and still do-almost a month later... I will forever ♥♥♥ VBS and will continue to look for opportunities to devour and share their sweet treats. Cheers to VBS for making 05.15.2010 the sweetest day ever!

OMG, the cakes were absolutely delicious!! The sugar flowers weren't exactly what I was going for based on my inspiration (I wanted something closer to peonies, but got roses)...but I can't complain too much since they were so beautiful!

Yum, Yum, Yum! Vanilla Bake Shop is my favorite!!!! Our cake was included with the wedding package at Shutters, and I was floored to find out it Vanilla Bake Shop was an option. I was turned on to Amy's "baby cakes" years ago before the shop opened and was hooked. Our wedding cake was beautiful - they incorporated the detail design from my dress on the bottom layer as a last minute request. People are still talking about how amazing our cake was - my husband who is not a sweets guy has said more than once how amazing our cake tasted. That alone speaks volumes to me. Definitely recommend Vanilla Bake Shop!

We went to Vanilla Bake Shop because one of our old friends from college used them for their wedding, and I was really impresses with the cake they had. Just like theirs, the cake we got was as good. Some of the designs they had at their shop were so creative I had a really hard time trying to find which one I would want. The cake we ended up getting was wonderful, and it tasted like heaven.

Wow. We asked for a cake based on our save the dates, and Amy and her team delivered something even more gorgeous than I had imagined. It was elegant, creative, and beautiful and fit the event perfectly.

Our flavors were vanilla bean and fleur del sel (chocolate with dark chocolate ganache, caramel, and sea salt). My husband doesn't like sweets, but he loved the fleur del sel flavor - delicious and different. We even got one layer that was chocolate AND vanilla. People raved about the cake; we even had some people who were just eating the fondant because they loved it so much! I got to eat some cake the day after the wedding, and it was SO good and moist.

Vanilla Bake Shop's reputation lived up to all that I read...and MORE. Working with their team was so easy - I did everything over the phone and through e-mail. Our wedding cake was delivered on-time and exactly how we ordered it...it was perfect. All our guests said it was the best Southern red velvet cake they ever had. Three relatives called my mom after the wedding to find out the name and phone number of the bakery - they said they couldn't get the yummy cake out of their minds!

YUM! That is the most important thing in bake shops, right???We had so many guests tell us that our cake was the best they had ever had:-)We didn't get very much because people ate seconds and thirds! And we were glad that we ordered extra!!! The designs of Vanilla Bake Shop are totally my taste - clean and beautiful. Amy was very sweet and although she is probably overworked, she does an amazing job and comes up with designs to suit you - very much about the client and not herself. I got a surprise groom's cake and she kept the communication a secret for about 4 months - he loved it! For our cake, we got two different kinds of cake, which she helped us to create. The yellow cake is so yummy and moist unlike many bakery shop cakes that are made in advance. The chocolate cake with caramel and sea salt is maybe the best cake I have ever eaten. Not too sweet, it is the perfect combination of flavors. Your mouth will literally water with amazement. They also do beautiful cupcakes - all with the perfect shape and icing. Everything looks almost machine made... Check them out - if not for wedding, for gifts or catering... So good!!!

Mmm Vanilla Bake Shop makes the yummiest cupcake. Their cupcakes and wedding cake are adorable and delicious. They are also very responsive to emails and all our questions. Vanilla Bakeshop's wedding cake (southern red velvet) and groom's cake (chocolate southern banana pudding) at our wedding tasted exactly as they did at the tasting. They were both absolutely delicious. My only complaint was that the groom's cake was supposed to have Nilla Wafers in the layers (with bananas, vanilla pudding and whip cream), but there were none that we could taste.

Our guests raved and raved about these cupcakes all night. In fact, some guests still mention them whenever they see us. A bit on the higher end scale of the cake budget, but worth every penny. Amy and her staff are fabulous!

Amy and Jeremy Berman (owners of Vanilla Bake Shop) are so great! They gave us exactly what we wanted, a gorgeous cupcake tower filled with delicious cupcakes! They were our favorite bakery prior to getting engaged, so there was no question we had to have them. I'm happy to call Amy a friend now and can't say enough about them. Would HIGHLY recommend!

My husband and I ordered one big wedding cake and other 100 mini cup cakes for our guests. They are so delicious and pretty too.

My husband and I got 400 amazing mini cupcakes from Vanilla Bake Shop for our wedding! When we started planning our wedding I knew I wanted mini cupcakes and lots of them. I started looking around cupcake shops and Vanilla was my favorite. We got three kinds of cupcakes: Meyer Lemon Raspberry (My favorite), Banana Chocolate Chip (My husbands favorite), and Bittersweet Dark Chocolate (The only chocolate cupcake I have ever liked)! When I first went for a cake tasting Amy Berman brought out a nice big tray of cupcakes and explained what everything was and got us something to drink. It was the perfect way to spend an afternoon. Amy also helped us figure out which three were best to pair together. It was a wonderful experience! I often times pick up cupcakes when I am in the area to bring home as a surprise for my husband!

Amy is a delight to work with. I brought in a sample picture of the cake design I wanted and they were able to replicate it perfectly. Not only was it sweet and delicious, it was also beautiful!

VBS was willing to work within my budget for a smaller cake. We had 220 guests and ordered a 3 tiered cake from VBS for picture purposes and 200 red velvet cupcakes from our caterer.

With only 50 guests and a limited budget, Amy treated my daughter and her fiance and myself like we were spending 3 times as much! We had a scheduled tasting, the most beautiful understated and delicious 3 tier cake- one I could only imagine- from the pages of a magazine. The contract was drawn up quickly and Amy worked with our florist for the finishing touches. When I arrived at the venue, it was set up as promised. A mother living 3000 miles away couldn't ask for more...peace of mind, and perfect outcome. We planned my daughter's wedding via wedding websites and reviews so having a gut feeling out our initial meeting was key to the success (or failure) of the wedding. We are elated.

Amy created a beautiful simple cake that fit perfectly with our theme. Although we were not having a large wedding (only 50 guests) and our budget was limited, she met with my daughter and future son-in-law and I on my only trip to Calif prior to the wedding day. Many bakeries will not schedule a "tasting" when the bride's budget is small. But Amy was accommodating from that initial meeting. A contract was quickly emailed and I never felt concerned or worried. I knew that the cake would be there on the wedding day and as beautiful and tasty as we imagined. We planned the entire wedding from reviews and websites so we never had the benefit of a personal recommendation, but I could not have been happier with the outcome. Thank you, thank you.

This cake was sooo delicious - and way denser and heavier than I ever would have imagined! The cake was fantastic, the only reason I gave them a less than perfect rating is because they lost my order a couple of times and the cake wasn't ready to go when we got there - but for 231 dollars we got enough cake to feed 100 people...you can't beat that! Especially for such yumminess...I'm gonna go eat my leftovers now!

We decided for mini cupcakes instead of a traditional cake for our wedding. At a $1.50 each we ordered 200 which came out to $300.00. Half dark chocolate with coconut, and half keylime cupcakes. Your cupcake selection depends on what day your wedding falls on, but they're willing to work with you if you need some sort of special packaging or something.

WOW! That's all I can say! We got mini cupcakes and they were a HUGE hit! All of our guests LOVED them! The flavors are amazing and they service was amazing!

Our cakes were works of art! They turned out so gorgeous that I hated to eat them! We showed Amy (who is super sweet) our inspiration photo and she recreated it perfectly. Our flavors were red velvet, vanilla lemon berry (my fav) and banana pudding. I highly recommend them!

Yummy! Vanilla Bake Shop provided our wedding cupcakes and cake and it was delicious. People were eating two and three cupcakes and couldn't stop talking about how great they were. The cake was amazing. At first when I explained to my mother-in-law that we were doing cupcakes for the wedding so seemed a bit taken aback. After the wedding, she told me she had no idea I meant those kind of cupcakes. What is more amazing than the cake (imagine that) is the design and creativity that Amy puts in the creation of the cupcake tower. It looked unbelievable and fit in so well with the room and decor. It was so beautiful. Amy made a regular cake to top the cupcake tower for my husband and I to use for our cake cutting - we wanted to make some changes to the fillings and she was so flexible with it. Thanks Amy! Amy at Vanilla Bake Shop is amazing! Honestly me and the hubs arent huge cake people so we opted for cupcake babies and dessert shots! From our tasting we were hooked on VBS- it was A-MAZ-ING & truly delicious desserts!!!!!! And Amy also displayed everything soooo beautiful, i was in awe of our dessert table, it was everything we hoped for. We didnt want the basic "cupcakes but stacked like a cake look" so Amy had acrylic pieces for the dessert shots, and then different size cake plates for the cupcake babies! Perfection! I think people complimented me every 20 mins about our dessert bar : ) it was my favorite thing of the wedding!!!! I just couldnt stop staring at the table : )

I thought that everyone in L.A. had been to a wedding with cupcakes at this point. Wow, was I wrong. Amy and her team at Vanilla did an amazing job with our cupcakes, and guests are still raving about how fun they were. Vanilla is easy to work with, reasonably priced compared to a wedding cake, and were able to see our vision for our "cupcake cake".

Their cupcakes taste good and the right size to end the meal, since we had a dessert bar as well.

The owner of the shop, Amy, was incredibly easy to work with. She obviously loves her job and gets excited with each bride. The cake was DIVINE - tasting and aesthetically.

Loved, loved, loved this bakery. I really wanted to have cupcakes at my wedding and we searched quite a few locations until we came across this gem. The owner was lovely, giving us a break on the cost and really sitting down with us to help choose the best flavors we could have. The flavors were great - so fresh. The service was prompt and they had a beautiful presentation. They stepped up to the plate when our reception site ruined many of the cupcakes - they baked a few new batches and re-delivered to our site so we can give out to our guests. You can't get more honorable than that. We plan to get a fresh cake from them for our anniversary, as well as all the fun holidays in between now and then. Vanilla Bake Shop is the best place out there.

We had cupcakes and a dessert bar instead of a cake, and Vanilla Bake Shop did a lovely job with the mini cupcakes! They were delicious and beautiful!... even better that Sprinkles!

Amy was able to set up time to meet for the tasting. This shop is primarily a cupcake shop and that's what i had for my wedding cake, however, i also requested a small cake to cut as well. I had four flavors at my wedding, plus the cake. They were delicious! They were the talk to the whole event. She is located in santa monica, and i in orange county. it is a far drive, but well worh it. More economical than having a whole big stacked cake. We only had about 10 cupcakes left and we ordered about 120.

Beautiful, tasty cakes and cupcakes and fabulous presentation for any special occasion. The owners, Amy and her husband are great to work with. Stop in to see their adorable shop in Santa Monica too!

As a Wedding Consultant, Vanilla Bake Shop is my ONLY recommendation for cupcakes at any of my events. They have phenomenal flavors - really the absolute best cupcakes in Southern California.
