Joe was an absolute JOY to work with! I had less than a year to plan our wedding myself. Everything that we picked was either from word of mouth or by reading reviews, so I wanted to help make things easier for all of you looking for the perfect photographer! Our wedding was in South County and the reception was in Columbia, IL. I was looking for someone local; not an hour or two away. My dad does some photography work, so whoever we picked had to meet his standards along with the budget. I started looking online and on wedding sites in search of a photographer. Our wedding coordinator at the church had mentioned a lady that did pretty good work, so she gave me her name and email address. When I emailed her asking for some info and to possibly meet up, she gave me a starting price (which was out of the price range I was thinking) and wanted to schedule a meeting. Her house/shop was fairly close to where I lived, so I said that sounded good. Instead, she insisted that we meet her one weekend evening at a Ruby Tuesday's even farther than her house! Mike and I weren’t a fan of that idea; we wanted to meet her and discuss our ideas and requests and see some of her work. So, that and other things was a deal breaker for me. Then I stumbled across Joe's site and loved his work! We scheduled a meeting with him at his studio/home. He is an EXTREMELY personable guy and really took our wants and requests to heart. He showed us his albums and went over all of the options with us. We NEVER felt any pressure from him to purchase anything we didn’t want just so that he could make more money off of us. It was nice because we knew that on our wedding day, Joe was going to be our photographer; not some random employee at the studio that we had never met or that didn’t know our personalities. He showed up at the time we agreed on, took excellent photos (that my dad raves about!), and was very quick to get our photos edited and online in just about a week. Also, he is great with kids!

Our photographer was excellent! He was very flexible with picture ideas and location. All of the phone calls and emails were very quickly returned. They were also very flexible with the certain things that I wanted in our contract. All our pictures are beautiful and really captured our day wonderfully! The only downside, is its been about 4 weeks and we still haven't received our thank you cards. But, our picture CDs did arrive pretty quickly.

Joe photographed my senior pictures in 1995 and he did a wonderful job. I was elated to see that he was still in the photography business years later for my wedding! We met, he was very nice, and his pricing was very reasonable. But most importantly his work was beautiful! He arrived on time, was very pleasant, and my wedding pictures are gorgeous! My husband and I are very pleased. I would recommend Joe Vavak to anyone! :)

Exceptional quality of service, responsiveness, professionalism, value, and flexibility. Joe stayed with us all day, including many locations between the wedding and the reception. He took color photographs while his assistant shot black and white photos. The bride and groom were very pleased with the finished album.

My husband and I loved this photographer. They were very willing to work with us and gave us many ideas that we never thought of before. We were worried that we wouldn't have them for enough time, but we managed to squeeze everything in on the time allotted to us. We even were able to escape for a few minutes and go get some outside pictures taken of just the two of us.
