Vine Hill House

I don't think you can do much better than Vine Hill House for your wedding venue. The place is absolutely stunning--gorgeous grounds with beautiful flowers, outstanding views and a cozy yet comfortable space.

Dan O'Connell, the owner and manager of the venue, is wonderful. He knows how to make his site run flawlessly. It might come across to some as controlling, but ultimately he knows exactly what needs to happen for a perfect day. He takes care of the bride and family, he's kind and takes the time to get to know each group. He was a joy to work with.

The site also includes some great amenities that you might miss at some other similar venues. He has nice built in bathrooms (yup, no port-a-potties!), umbrellas and heaters and some fun rentals to decorate the space.

The layout of the space makes for a great party too. Distinct spaces allow for a really nice flow, giving people space to dance or drink or have dessert. My dad also loved that the back porch essentially becomes a stage for the toasts and cake-cutting, so everyone at the event gets to see what's happening.

Romantic Garden & Sonoma County Vineyards!
I grew up in Sebastopol, and always dreamed of getting married at a winery in my home town. After visiting several other wineries though, I realized that many of them were too expensive, or too austere (I'd have to bring in lots of flowers and decoration to make it seem beautiful and festive). VHH however, was everything I dreamed it would be. It had a gorgeous view of the vineyards and Sonoma County's rolling hills, and a romantic garden setting. The only decoration I needed was personal flowers and centerpieces. The owners of the property, Dan and Jan provided me with a wealth of information on other local vendors which was invaluable as I was planning. My husband likes to say, our wedding day went off with only one hitch (us getting hitched). Everything went according to the plan. In fact several guests say our wedding was the first wedding they'd ever been to where everything happened on time. That was due to the incredible teamwork of Dan, Jan and their crew! All I had to do was get ready, and show up. All setup was handled by VHH. The flip-side to this though is that they can bit a bit bossy with your vendors and somewhat inflexible. The one unfortunate thing that did happen was the chuppah my dad built broke while moving into place. Luckily VHH stepped in with their chuppah, which was the same style and dimensions, and actually made a bit better. I was sad it wasn't the one my dad built, but theirs actually looked better. In the end, it was good we used theirs! Stop searching, Vine Hill House is the place to get married!

We were so happy to have found Vine Hill House for our wedding venue. The setting is so beautiful and intimate and was just what we were looking for. Dan and Jan are wonderful and so so so so helpful in planning the wedding with you. Dan acts essentially as a wedding coordinator, so you will not need one if you are having a wedding here...he will definitely make sure the event will go off without a hitch. So many of my wedding guests comented on how beautiful the venue was and I could not have imagined a better spot for us to get married.

My husband and I recently got married at Vine Hill House in Sebastopol, CA. It was very easy to get in touch with the owners Dan and his wife Jan and after speaking with Dan on the phone, I knew it was a place I needed to see. The day we toured the property it rained, but the natural beauty and charm of the area was crystal clear. The lush greenery of the lawns and gardens paired with the charming guest house and flagstone walkways was perfect for the rustic garden wedding I had envisioned. Not to mention the entire property is artfully lit with path lighting, up lights and twinkle lights wrapped around the trees. And then there is the view! The dinner space on the lawn overlooks rolling hills of vineyards with breathtaking mountains and a small body of water off in the distance. I was hooked! In the hour we spent talking to Dan and touring his family owned apple orchard and winery property, I knew I wanted to get married at Vine Hill House. I was planning my wedding from a distance and Dan let me know right away that it would not be a problem and that he could do as much or as little with the planning as I wanted. He was warm and friendly and I trusted him instantly. In the months leading up to the wedding Dan was very responsive and encouraging with each question I called or emailed with and when I asked for advice he always had a helpful answer and sometimes even an email packet with more details.


Fast forward to the wedding day and I cannot say enough glowing things about this place or the owners. Dan and his team were out bright and early setting up all of the decoration to my specifications. And when it started to rain he kept me calm and assured me that the satellite report promised it would pass quickly. Then he instructed his crew to hand wipe each chair so that nothing was wet when my guests arrived. Dan also acts as day of coordinator, so if you can’t afford a wedding planner, this is a great savings. Dan was absolutely on top of every detail including keeping all of the vendors on time and in order. He has decades of experience with weddings so he knows lots of tricks to make sure your event runs smoothly. My friends and family were all very impressed with the way the entire event came together. The staggering beauty and quiet charm of Vine Hill House combined with Dan’s professionalism relaxed demeanor make for a home run for any wedding. I would absolutely recommend Vine Hill House to any bride looking to have an unforgettable outdoor garden wedding.

Dan and Jan were absolutely wonderful! Everything was perfect the day of the wedding because they were very on top of things. Dan was able to suggest different things for the reception and ceremony that we hadn't even thought of, which was so great. EVERYONE who attended the wedding just LOVED the venue so much!

We chose our wedding location in Sebastopol as it was an area we often visited from East Bay and enjoyed with our local friends; and we wanted to share it with our “mostly out-of-town guests.
The location was spectacular. The event setting is an old apple orchard with a beautiful *** home that was the childhood house of the owner, Dan.
The surrounding area is now owned by Gallo and we were surrounded by fields of grapes.
While not acting as a real wedding planner (something we did not want anyway); Dan WAS owner, adviser and wedding day manager, as well as the one who made sure no small details were missed.
He was strong without being too pushy and provided recommendations for caterers, photographers, florists, music, virtually anything we needed.
We used many of his recommendations and were thrilled with every choice.
We purposely chose a night with a full moon and watching it rise out of the vineyards on a warm August night made the night all the more magical

Our wedding at Vine Hill House was amazing!! Our friends and family left saying it was a fairytale wedding in an amazing location. The location of VHH is absolutely stunning. The venue has a view of the rolling vineyards, a reservoir in the distance and a dirt road that evokes the feeling of a Tuscan setting. Dan and Jan take great pride in their venue which is reflected through the well maintained property including, gorgeous landscaping, renovated bathrooms, and a new and improved stone dance floor.

We booked VHH about 18 months prior to the wedding date and visited many times. Dan and Jan were very hospitable and welcomed us on many occasions as we brought our parents to see the venue. They are extremely organized and reliable and take care of everything, including table and chairs, parking lot attendants, gas heaters for the evening, and coordinating with the vendors the day of the wedding to make sure that everything is seamless and easy for the bride and the groom. They make sure that the wedding will be flawless and classy. Also, Vine Hill House has great value and is less expensive than similar locations in the area.

The day of the wedding we arrived at 10am and spent the morning getting ready in the house. Dan and Jan encouraged us to make use of the house all day and have our hair and make-up done right there. They wanted us to feel relaxed and comfortable all day. I've heard stories about people being extremely stressed the day of their wedding, but being at Vine Hill House, with Dan and Jan taking care of everything I was not stressed at all. It was fun to be at the house all day and to watch the preparations unfold.

Getting married at VHH not only offers a beautiful venue, but also Dan's expertise gained from coordinating hundreds of weddings. He uses his expertise to help you plan a classy, seamless event. Even though Dan knows what works well, and what doesn't work, he was willing to make modifications to help accommodate our vision for the day. For example, Dan did not recommend doing a champagne toast at the time I wanted to because he said in his experience it's hard to get everyone attention immediately following the ceremony. However, it was really important to me that we do our toast then, so Dan worked with the caterer and the DJ to take extra precautions so that the timing of the toast would work well. Dan also offered advise on things like how much red and white wine to buy and wedding tipping etiquette.

Dan also did a fantastic job coordinating our rehearsal. All our family members were extremely impressed by the organization and attention to detail at the rehearsal and everyone said they had never been to such a helpful rehearsal.

I cannot say enough good things about Dan and Jan at Vine Hill House. If I were to do the whole thing all over again I would without a doubt do it at Vine Hill House.

Vine Hill House is AMAZING! I kept my wedding to 75 guests and it was the most perfect venue. The views are stunning. The owners, Dan and Jan, are 100% helpful and take care of every detail before and during your wedding. I can't say enough about this place; it's phenomenal!

Vine Hill House was amazing! If you are getting married here, spend the night at the house with your bridesmaids--the outdoor spa is relaxing and it's nice to wake up in the morning already at the venue!

If you're interested in doing a winery wedding, DEFINITELY think about having it at Vine Hill House. It really has all the pieces of a winery wedding that you could ask for - a great view of the valley and luscious vineyards that set a wonderful and relaxing mood for our wedding. Vine Hill had great service and provided everything we needed - valet parking, a day of coordinator, and a nice house for me and my BMs to get ready in. We didn't have to do much work on the decor as the tables and chairs they had turned out to be very nice already. Everyone had a great time at the wedding. We didn't have many dancers, but everyone really enjoyed the atmosphere of the winery. It was beautiful all around and everyone at the winery was a pleasure to work with.

This is a gorgeous, family-run vineyard/apple orchard. Casually elegant with amazing views and intimate, romantic and lush landscaping. We loved getting married here!

This venue is located on a private estate overlooking exquisitely manicured vineyards. The proprietors are very accomodating and see to every detail with a kind heart. By far one of my favorite spots in all of the North Bay counties of Napa and Sonoma!

Vine Hill House is easily one of my favorite venues in this area. It has an incredible view and is in a beautiful location! Plus, they provide tables & chairs, which saves brides & grooms a lot of money on rentals. Dan and Jan are so easy to work with, and I highly recommend this incredible spot!

Working with Dan and Jan at Vine Hill House is always a pleasure. The garden wedding site is personal, quiet and romantic. Vine Hill House also has fabulous views across vineyards, the Santa Rosa valley and to Mt. St. Helena. On late summer afternoons the site is protected from the scorching sun's rays and your guests will enjoy the spectacular view during the ceremony and on into the reception and dancing.

Right around the corner from us! We love to work local and this venue is gorgeous and very sweet. The gardens are spectacular.
