There is no photographer in the world like aLex Rodrigues. He makes you feel incredibly beautiful and his charm and charism are indescribible. I would recommed him to anyone for any occasion. Once you are in his presence you will understand exactly what i mean.

Alex is very professional, accomodating and someone that you would like to have at your wedding. He took beautiful photos and did not interfere with the flow of the day. Prior to the wedding, he interviewed us and asked us a lot of questions about the venue, types of photos, special people, etc.
In addition to this, we selected him because of the quality and artisitic style of the wedding photos on his website and at his studio. He took "artsy" photos as well as the "traditional" ones. The pictures are amazing!
And yes, I have already recommended him to my friend for her daughter's wedding!

Alex Rodrigues is an amazing photographer. He was so unobtrusive, you turned and he was there capturing everything on film. He made everyone feel at ease even I who historically has detested posing for pictures found myself smiling whenever he pointed the camera at me. I would recommend W8 Photography again and again.

Alex was FANTASTIC!! He gave us exactly what we requested; tons of great candids and non commercial looking portraits. We took all of our portraits before the ceremony and Alex was quick and professional. Our guests kept commenting at how you never even noticed he was around...yet he was everywhere. We were very pleased with his work.

We used Alex Rodrigues at W8 Photography for our engagement pictures and wedding pictures. From our first meeting with him, we realized he would be the right photographer for us. It is so important to find the person with the right personality and professionalism for your big day. Alex was deinitely that person.

He was very flexible with pricing as well, and very easy to get along with.

When we met up with him for engagement pictures and then saw the beautiful pictures he took, we knew we didn't have to worry at all about our wedding day. We knew he would capture the beauty of the day.

The day of our wedding, he was so helpful to me as the bride. He wasn't too intrusive, but he did get the pictures he needed. Great guy, and an excellent photographer!

Alex was a wonderful photographer. Not only was he professional, but he was also warm, kind, and just a lot of fun to have at my wedding. The quality of his photos were wonderful and he wasn't shy about trying new and fun things. Not only was he a great photographer, but he was a delight to have at my wedding.

Alex was great! He was very enthusiastic and energetic. He caught all the right moments through the night, and took all the pictures I asked for plus some! He was also very responsive and flexible, as I called to change our PhotoShoot location ON THE DRIVE to the reception! (We had more time than we thought, and it turned out not to rain, so I took advantage of it! :) Most of all, all the guests loved him!

Not only were we pleased with our engagement and wedding pictures, but we had a great time during the shoot. Alex is knowledgeable, kind, creative and incredibly fun as well. Alex is such a talented photographer! He captured all our special moments on our wedding day. Our engagement session was also a blast! We knew from the moment we met Alex that he was going to be perfect for our wedding! His warmth and vibrant energy was inviting to all our guests! Will definitely be using w8 photography for all our special family events in the future :)

Alex is an amazing photographer. There is definitely and art to capturing a moment and Alex has that "X" factor for getting it beyond right. I could not be more happy with the photos and album that he created.
I show them off every chance I get. It is worth noting that I was the groom and not really one to get excited over pictures. He will blow your mind!

About Alex:

My life started in Rio de Janiero, Brazil. As a child, I was always very inquisitive and spent my days visually and mentally soaking up the beauty in the world around me. It wasn’t until I picked up my first camera, that I felt I could accurately capture it. I still remember what a brilliant feeling it was to share what I was able to photographically document with others.

I am forever grateful to my vibrant and distinctive culture for helping to define the happy and energetic person that I have become today. In 1991, I decided it was time to expand my horizons and I relocated to the United States. I started exploring NYC through street photography- everything from street markets and protests to salsa dance lesson gatherings on the pier to fish markets opening at dawn. I loved being able to document this new world around me.

A few years after I arrived, I started taking photography classes at NYU and continued studying photography and media at New Jersey City University. In 1996, I started assisting photographers on weddings and stock shoots. Then, in 1998, I started professionally photographing for studios.

Over the years, my passion for photography and my love for capturing life's special moments have grown and have inspired me to document weddings with a most exquisite eye. People have always been at the heart of my work. It is this enthusiasm that drives and inspires me daily. As a photographer, I love documenting the world from a different perspective, incorporating creative composition, lighting, and special attention to detail. These constitute the most important elements of my approach to weddings. My mission as an artist and as a photojournalist is to be committed to capturing moments that are not only beautiful and unique but are the true reflection of couple on their important day. My hope is to create a bond with the bride and groom and to stimulate the same intensity and emotion of their wedding day when they look at their wedding pictures.

In recent years, I was selected to be a participant at the prestigious Missouri Photo Workshop sponsored by the University of Missouri, Nikon, and Fuji and the Eddie Adams Workshop. Both workshops focus on fostering the craft and art of photojournalism. I have been professionally photographing weddings for over 15 years now, and my enthusiasm is just as strong if not stronger than it was the day I picked up that first camera in Brazil.

Life is truly a gift and it is a blessing that I can capture it.

About Nicole:

As a child, I was always imaginative, creative, and artistic. Whether I was exploring a wilderness in my backyard, writing a story with drawings to go along, or painting a little masterpiece, I enjoyed creating. When I reached high school, this continued with developing more as a creative writer and by my joining the Art Club and discovering photography. My father, who enjoyed photography in his high school and college years, set me up with his first SLR camera…and I fell in love!

At Rollins College, I majored in English with a concentration in Creative Writing. At the same time as enjoying literature and writing, I focused quite a bit on photo and art history classes as well as working in the Art Department. After college, I pursued a career in publishing and went on to get my Master’s in Publishing from Pace University.

I took a number of photography classes at the International Center of Photography (ICP) in NYC. The ICP was a great way to expand my photography knowledge even further. In 2001, while working as a full-time editor during the week, I acquired my first freelance photo assistant job for weddings and events. Although I was only assisting photographers, I still was able to learn about the details of a photographer’s role in a wedding, including everything from shot lists to timing of events.

In 2004, I started freelancing for another studio in Montclair as an assistant to Alex. He trained me for the second shooter role and soon enough, we were working together on weddings with him as the main photographer and me as the second. We discovered that we work unbelievably well together and even better as a couple. In 2008, we developed W8 Photography and started building the business. In 2009, we got married. In 2010, we adopted our 2 rescue dogs (Jack and Sierra) and opened a studio space in Caldwell, NJ. In 2011, we had our daughter Maya. In 2012, we saw W8’s success triple from our first year. In 2013, we relocated to Upper Montclair, NJ and are ready to continue growing and creating together.
