Watkins Glen Harbor Hotel
Our wedding was perfect !!! Val and her entire staff were wonderful to work with and made sure my dream came true. Everything went smoothly .
We had both our ceremony and reception there. The venue itself is beautiful. It is right on the lake. It is a new hotel and is well maintained. I liked being able to have the ceremony and reception in the same place.
The staff left something to be desired. The main hotel staff kept charging my guests a higher rate than was in our contract and a higher rate than they could have purchased themselves outside of the room block! I had to call several times to have that issue corrected.
I agree with the last reviewer about the food at the tasting being better than at the reception itself. My prime rib at the reception was cold, chewy and lacked flavor unlike the one at the tasting which was tender and had great flavor. It may have been on the warmer too long because the timing of the whole event was messed up (will get to that in the next paragraph) Disappointing.
Kristin Collins did an abysmal job with running the event. It started 30 minutes late because of poor leadership. She was standing around with her clip board instead of lining people up. Instead of starting everything else later, we got that 30 min shaved off our total time. Which I found upsetting because we paid $1000 extra just to have the ceremony there. They should have been more accommodating. We had less time with our photographer for our formal shots. My husband and I were rushed back and only got 1 picture together alone.
We had several issues with the bartender. My husbands grandfather asked the bartender for a Manhattan in a cocktail glass and was told he had to go to the main bar to get one. He did and when he came back 5 minutes later the bartender told him the bar was closed and would not serve him. Also, the bar was supposedly kept open for dinner which is not what we requested and closed early because of this. We were very annoyed.
Also, she forgot to put the sashes i bought on the cocktail hour tables. For the $12,000+ we paid for the venue, I expected better.
Beautiful venue for our reception and great food! They were extremely professional and while they were a bit pricey, you definitely get what you pay for. Kristen and Valerie were great to work with throughout the entire process. The day of the wedding Kristen and Valerie were there when we needed them but always seemed to be quietly orchestrating every little detail to make sure things were perfect. The food was also amazing. Its been almost four months since our wedding and our family and friends still tell us all the time how much fun they had and how good the food was. I would highly recommend this venue!
I held my Wedding and Reception at the Harbor Hotel. Things did not run smoothly, the staff seemed to be panicking throughout the whole day. They were not ready to start our reception on time but did not add the half hour that they were running behind to our reception, so I felt they cut us short on our reception time.
Our food for the most part was good. It did not taste the same as it did when we did a food tasting which was disappointing.
Dont get my wrong the Harbor Hotel is a beautiful place and they have plenty of room to accomidate big parties. It just was not what I was expecting or...
We had our ceremony and reception on site. We really wanted to have an outside wedding, but it was very nice to have a back up inside location. We ended up being able to have the ceremony outside, but it was a close call. Luckily I didn't have to worry about it. Both the outside and inside areas were very nicely decorated. I brought in some decorations, and explained what I wanted and they did the rest! It was great to not have to deal with any decorating or clean up myself, especially nice for me because it didn't really have anybody local to help. They were very helpful and professional. The only real down side was that the wedding planning who had been working with us from the beginning got a different job and wasn't there for our day. But everything still went pretty smoothly. They also had a lot of decorations and things like table numbers, which was very helpful. Although it would have been nice to have known about them earlier.
The food was very good. I'm a vegetarian so we mostly had stuff that was not on their regular catering menu. The chef came up with some things and I gave him a few recipes too.
The Harbor Hotel is AMAZZZING. Everyone there was so professional, friendly, etc. I work in the hospitality industry and I would go above and beyond recommending this hotel for everything. The food for our wedding was fabulous. My husband and I could not have ask for anything more of our special day. Denise in Catering was beyond remarkable...as well as everyone we encountered. We have already decided to return for our 1st anniversary..and hopefully try the new spa they are in line to construct. :)))))
This place not only is beautiful, but the people that coordinate the weddings are awesome! Carolyn & Denise made everything just the way I asked! They were so patient with all my phone calls and needs. It's like you've known them for years when you work with them. They were there everytime I stopped in or called, and were there the entire day of my wedding to make sure that everything was just perfect. Can not say enough good things!
AMAZING! We had a winter wedding, and the first winter ceremony at the hotel. It was incredible. They made my vision a reality. Denise and Carolyn are wonderful. The food was outstanding and they were very flexible with their options. All of our guests have had nothing but great things to say about our wedding and the hotel itself. We can't wait to go back and stay at the hotel again!!! Highly recommend having your wedding at the Harbor Hotel!
