Reviews for Wayfarer's Chapel

The Wayfarer's Chapel is absolutely stunning. My guests were all in awe of the location & talked about how beautiful it was & how they would love to or had loved to, get married there as well. The trade off for the spectacular views & scenery is the price. The mandatory donation was $2,500.00 & if you want to add the Candelight service, which adds pillar candles to each pew & 2 extra ceremony musicians, it is an additional $400.00. So, needless to say it is not an inexpensive location seeing that after your ceremony you must go elsewhere for your reception. Also, the staff is VERY strict about getting you off the grounds in time for the next wedding. So, if you haven't taken all the pictures you want you will need to travel elsewhere. Overall, I could not have imagined getting married anywhere else-it was the most beautiful wedding I have ever attended (regardless of the fact that I am biased!)

The chapel is beautiful, but beware - you will not get one extra second on the grounds than the 2 hour time slot you've paid through the nose for!! Furthermore, they didn't inform me until AFTER they had my non-refundable "donation" that there would be construction going on that would be in the way of some of our photographs. The "coordinator" was rude and pushy to my photographer, and wouldn't allow us 2 extra minutes to take pictures of us with the beautiful ocean backdrop (the whole reason we were there in the first place!) despite the fact that there was no one scheduled to come in after us. Rude, rude, rude. Oh, and the minister sounded like Kermit the frog. :P It was all my husband and I could do to keep a straight face during the ceremony. Absolutely beautiful location though, just know that they have absolutely ZERO flexibility.

Great location, great view of the ocean in the back. The people that worked there are very professional and everything ran smoothly. The only thing is you can only be on location for 2 hours, so have to hurry up and get as much pix as you can after the ceremony. However, if you really want beach pictures, you can go to other locations such as Terranea public beach.

Beautiful place for a wedding. Impossible to take a bad picture! Loved it.

We are very happy that we had our wedding ceremony at Wayfarer's Chapel. We live out of the state and have to plan the wedding from afar, and Wayfarer's Chapel was very helpful at making this possible. They worked with our schedules. On the day of the ceremony, they ran the wedding so efficiently and seemlessly. We hired one of the recommended photographers and our wedding photos at the Chapel were incredible. Beautiful chapel, beautiful scenery, beautiful setting. I do think they are quite expensive, and you can probably get married somewhere else for much cheaper, but truly the unique beauty of this location cannot be matched anywhere else.

Wayfarer's Chapel is ABSOLUTELY STUNNING!!! All of my guests were amazed at how beautiful it was, and its beauty made our ceremony so much more touching than it already was... A lot of my female guests even cried during our ceremony...

A coworker had her ceremony at this chapel. It's a beautiful place. The locations is great and the ceremony was really nice. Beautiful!

Extremely beautiful place for a wedding...but they know it. They are very business like and not expecially friendly. They have very strict rules and seem to be more interested in your fee. They messed up the paper work for our wedding license and we had to fill out additional forms at the courthouse. Like I said, very beautiful place, but you have to work for it.

We had our wedding at the Chapel August 31st 2008! It is absolutely beautiful and a hit with our guests as well. Although a little pricey, you don't have to do anything! Its ready to go and well organized- another reason why we choose the Chapel. No rentals, no finding ministers, don't have to worry about decorating, and they have meetings to help you plan your ceremony. We also liked it because we will always have a beautiful, sentimental, place to go.
We decided not to use any of the photographers they refer because we were not impressed with their work, etc. Also many photographers by now have shot at the Chapel so it wasn't a problem at all- as long as they know "the rules" and still help to accommodate your needs to get the pictures you want, etc. So we chose a photographer that we LOVED as well as already had experience shooting at the Chapel!
Overall, it was a great experience and a magical day at the Chapel! They do pump weddings out all day long- so expect to see a bride before or after your wedding leaving the Chapel grounds. No biggie, it all works out smoothly and worth it. Lastly, we were worried about fitting the full 100 people- but it did just fine! We had a few guests not make the ceremony, I actually wished we would have invited more! We were so worried about this since it is small- so we really stuck to 100, since we didn't want to squish our guests- but it easily accommodated everyone!
If your interested, I would definitely go take a look at the Chapel, even just for the experience- its a very beautiful place! (PIB)

Wayfarers is a beautiful chapel! I loved the location and ambiance. We worked with Marian as our ceremony coordinator and Reverend Jonathan Mitchell as our minister. Both were absolutely wonderful! Wayfarers is extremely well organized and, as mentioned in other reviews, there are strict policies for schedule, photographers, flowers and limos...but it is all worth it!
We used Dorothy Victor as our harpist during the ceremony. She was recommended by the Chapel and she was awesome. The music was perfect. We loved everything about our ceremony.
We also used Marc Gold of 24kt for the in-chapel videography (and also later at our reception). I highly recommend you use 24kt so you can get great photos from the front of the chapel.
Thank you so much to Marc, Marian, Dorothy and Rev. Mitchell =)

When we first stepped foot on the Wayfarers grounds, we knew it was for us. It's as beautiful as everyone says and more -- it's a place that must be experienced: calm and serenity fills the air, and the small glass chapel makes for an intimate, engaging setting.
Yes, it's rather expensive and they will kick you out of there as soon as your two hours are up. But it's entirely worth it. The rate includes a wedding coordinator, who will coordinate your ceremony and determine the ceremony program. For an additional $350, you can elect the "candlelight" option, which includes candlelit sconces on the aisles and your choice of musicians: harpist, male or female vocalist, organist, and/or flutist (i think). We chose Dorothy Victor, the harpist, and who played beautiful music that we chose during a personal recital that she held for us two months prior. Dorothy is a consummate professional!

We simply fell in love with this Chapel upon our first visit, simply breath taken.
From the view to the chapel itself.

Beautiful grounds with a well organized staff!
Getting married here is a breeze, you hardly have to think as someone is always telling you what to do/where to be. You don't need a wedding coordinator here. I loved it as did our guests....everyone was taking pictures of themselves before the ceremony...worth every penny!

What a beautiful location to get married!! Absolutely breathtaking!! The entire ceremony was so well organized and every step along the way was well thoughtout and planned. The only downside is the expense and the time limit.

Wayfarers Chapel is beautiful! The staff was excellent, and our officiant was great! Our ceremony was perfect. If you are interested in having your ceremony at the Chapel, make sure to call the reservation office as soon as possibly to find out availability. Luckily, for us we were able to find a date and time that worked for us, but this place gets booked quickly.

I absoloutly fell in love with Wayfarers! You get the forest, the beach and the gorgeous church all in one. It took my breath away when I saw it online and even more so in person! The staff are the kindest and most helpful people!
I believe ther prices are listed online. When I booked last August '06 their rate was 2,300 for Fri, Sat and Sun weddings. Weekdays as usual are cheaper. So worth it!

Wayfarers Chapel (also known as the glass chapel) sits on the cliff of Palos Verdes. The view is exquisite! Many of my guests still talk about how beautiful the site was. There are a couple of down sides: Wayfarers is popular, so they have weddings every 2 hours (you have one hour for photos, 15-20 minutes for the ceremony, and then another 40-45 minutes for pictures before you need to leave the site), you cannot have your own minister, your photographer cannot come into the site (but the videographer recommended by the chapel has remote control cameras located throughout the chapel - the scenic photos more than made up for the lack of chapel pictures) and they have a "standard" set of vows. Also, there isn't a place to hold the reception on site - But, there are plenty of places in the surrounding area to have your reception! My husband and I fell in love with this site, so these "cons" did not matter to us. The fee does seem high (we paid $1900 for a weekend wedding, and that has gone up to $2300), but it is tax-deductible...

This was my first choice when we decided to get married. The church is exquisite. There are a few things to think about:
You only get one hour of use, which could be stressful because you have to make sure guests and ceremony are on time.
They book weddings every hour, so you have to be out of there when your hour is up.
Fits 100 people, not including wedding party
No photographer inside of church.

This is a beautiful venue. It is a bit more expensive than most church's, but they limit you on floral, so that helps with the budget. Also, since it is a church, it is a charitable contribution and can therefore be a tax deduction.

We had to take pictures quickly because there was going to be another wedding party after. It was a beautiful place though, but a bit expensive to book the place.

This ceremony site was beautiful and we knew we had to get married here. The view of the ocean and the glass chapel were absolutely breathtaking. Our guests raved about it and the staff was helpful and pleasant to work with. They are very strict and will rush you off the grounds, but other than that… a wonderful location.
