She provided a wonderful service, and was very flexible, open, and accommodating. She allowed us to do the ceremony our way without the hassle of going through "church" requirements. Which is exactly what we needed after having been together so long and finally being able to get married.

Gay Lee was outstanding! Even though we lived in Richmond, she was great about meeting us in Richmond. We appreciated that she took the time to talk with us and learn about us as both individuals and as a couple. We stayed in communication through email and phone until the ceremony. The service she created for our elopement was everything we had hoped for including a hand fastening ceremony. The ceremony was truly a reflection of who we are! It meant the world to us. We appreciate her attention to detail and her commitment to making sure the ceremony was filled with joy and happiness!

She was wonderful! We couldn't have dreamed of anything better. We were so happy how she worked in vows to my daughters and just captured the spirit of what we hoped for in a ceremony. Absolutely thrilled with Gay!

Gay Lee did a wonderful job of working with my husband and me on our interfaith wedding. Though my husband is Jewish and I am Christian, we both wanted our faith traditions to be represented in the ceremony. Gay Lee met with me individually, gave us Myers-Briggs personality inventories, discussed our results with us, met with our Rabbi, and managed to make our ceremony perfect. She incorporated important points about our relationship into her wedding speech and helped everyone in both parties feel welcome, including all our gay friends. She was easy to work with and relaxed, and my husband still thinks of her as an important spiritual guide, even though she isn't from his faith tradition. If you are truly interested in having a meaningful wedding, Gay Lee is an excellent choice as your minister.

I have known Gay Lee for many years -- both as a family friend and youth pastor at my childhood church -- and couldn't recommend her more highly as an officiant! It is easy in the midst of wedding planning to forget the real meaning at the center of the event -- and Gay Lee was terrific in helping to ensure a truly meaningful celebration. My husband and I have grown up with very different religious backgrounds and in pre-counseling sessions, Gay Lee was enormously helpful in helping us explore what role we wanted our spiritual beliefs to play both in our marriage and in our ceremony. Throughout the planning process, Gay Less was very flexible about all of our plans -- including conducing the ceremony outside at a winery in the heat of August in Virginia! -- and her officiating was terrific. Her sermon was personal, warm, funny and loving -- all in all, God seemed to be a very joyous guest at our celebration! Gay Lee is a joy to work with and a wonderful person to help you begin your life together as a couple...

My name is Gay Lee Einstein and I have been officiating at weddings for the past 14 years. I am both a reverend and a doctor of ministry who has served churches in both the Northern Virgnia and the Charlottesville areas. What officiant services do you provide?

Civil Union, Interfaith Ceremony, Non-religious Ceremony, Single Religion Ceremony

What religious affiliations do you serve?

Agnostic, Christian (no denomination), Christian - Anglican, Christian - Baptist, Christian - Catholic, Christian - Episcopalian, Christian - Lutheran, Christian - Methodist, Christian - Presbyterian, Evangelical, Jewish

Can you accommodate the hearing impaired?

Are you willing to perform a ceremony at a non-religious site?

I have officiated at wedding services in peoples' homes, at plantations, at wineries, as well as in churches. You pick the place, I'll be there.

What is your attire for the ceremony?

I generally wear a black robe at ceremonies, but I can be persuaded to wear other attire. I have worn jeans for the wedding service, for example, since the bride and groom wanted their service to be very informal.

Are you flexible in the wording used throughout the ceremony, including the vows?

Please let me know what kind of wording you would like to have, and we will work together to produce a meaningful and spiritual service which you will remember the rest of your lives.

Do you allow the couple to write their own vows, if desired?

I encourage couples to write their own vows. Again, if you need help with these, I am a good resource.

Do you have a list of readings pre-selected, from which the couple must choose?

I do have a list of readings from which the couple MAY choose--but the couple is free to choose whatever readings are meaningful to them.

How long are your ceremonies?

The ceremony from start to finish is usually between half-an-hour to forty-five minutes depending on the number of readings and how much music is in the service. I have also done shorter services--when music was not part of the service.

Do you require that premarital counseling be done?

I don't require the couple to receive pre-marital counseling, but I do think that pre-marital counseling can be helpful. Hopefully, the discussions I initiate in a counseling session can serve as a springboard for further discussions between the couple.

Are you willing to perform pre-ceremony rehearsals?

Pre-ceremony rehearsals are recommended. Although wedding services are usually not that complicated, wedding jitters often set in the day of the service, so a rehearsal helps the members of the wedding party to feel confident that they know what they are doing.

Do you supply a sound system?

I do not supply a sound system. I do, however, have a projector which hooks up to a lap top, if the couple would like to use that at the rehearsal dinner or the wedding reception.
