After being disappointed by a Fred Astaire dance studio due to the lack of personalized attention and they kept selling more packages instead of focusing on one song, we found Wedding Day Dance since they had good reviews. I loved the personalized attention we received. We worked on one song and choreographed it (unlike the other studio that made us learn a bunch of songs- tango, salsa, waltz, etc). We had a personal room to practice in just for my fiancee and I and we played the song we would be dancing to. Neither my fiancee or I ever took professional dance lessons before, but our instructor Anne Marie was patient with us. She used terminology and made references to make us remember. She put us at ease. We communicated by text and was flexible with our dates and working around our hectic wedding schedule. She was just wonderful. Our dance received so many compliments at the end of the night. I highly recommend them if you would like to impress your guest at your wedding!!

Anne Marie is truly a pleasure to work with! Our guests were blown away with our dance. We went from zero experience to a full on choregraphed dance with spins and lifts in just 8 sessions! Highly recommend!

my husband and i took 6 lessons with anne marie for our wedding last month. we really enjoyed ourselves and had a great time taking lessons from her. overall she was great and choreographed a fabulous dance for us. there were just a few things i thought could use improvement. she was ten fifteen minutes late for half of our lessons and didn't give us extra time for any other lessons. she schedules her classes back to back so i understand that she has a tight schedule. we have never taken formal lessons and for the most part she was patient, but there were definitely times that she was short with us. yikes! also there were a couple times that she choreographed steps for us that didn't really work with the song and we would have to start again and re-learn different steps the next class. i felt like this was a huge waste of a class when we were supposed to be learning more of the dance each time and we would have to start again from where we left of. i wish she would've planned before coming to us with dance steps that worked with the different parts of our song instead of thinking of them during the class. it became a little bit confusing for us being that we have no professional dance experience. i know she teaches so many classes but she could never remember my then fiances name which i thought was a little impersonal. those are just a few things that bothered me. she is our only experience with professional dance lessons so i'm not sure if it's the same elsewhere. despite these few things that maybe wouldn't bother other couples, we had a great time learning our dance! in the end our dance was absolutely beautiful and we received so many compliments, that's all that matters!

If anne marie can teach us to dance, she can teach you.
we bought a 5 lesson package and added on a class for good luck.
we met anne marie in a private studio in midtown (through a larger venue so the room always changed) which was super convinient.
anne marie is professional and clearly understands the dyanamics and frustrations that go along with learning to dance! she was awesome, stepping in and being honest and frank but very kind.
we came to look forward to our dancing lessons and honestly enjoyed them (even at 9 am on sunday mornings). my only "gripe" (if you can even call it that) is that anne marie is in demand!! we scheduled our sessions when i bought them (so in advance) but since we have demanding schedules- we had to!!!
i would send any of my friends to anne marie. our dance was not cheesey and (no joke) elicited OOHHHS and AAAAHS from...

AWESOME. She is awesome. the consumate professional and she didn't "push" us per se, but definitely got us to incorporate more than the basic cheesy moves you usually see in wedding dances. I mean, we did a lift and a dramatic dip, and neither of us can do any kind of ballroom dance! 5 lessons, 1 hour each. I cannot tell you how much cheering there was and how many people complimented us on our dance!!! I was really surprised. It wasn't even my idea to do one and I was really hesitant, but the lessons were great, she is awesome, and it is such a huge hit I would totally recommend it! (we did 5 lessons in only maybe 3-4 weeks).
I actually purchased a yelp deal which made the whole thing a little cheaper but in general she was teh most reasonably priced out of all of the companies I contacted.

My husband & I used Anne-Marie to teach us a dance for the first dance at our wedding. Anne-Marie gives private lessons that are always in private rooms so you can easily focus and have her full attention (unlike other companies where you share a big room with other couples - beware). Her prices are reasonable for Manhattan and she includes a free half hour which was helpful. Anne-Marie is responsive, professional and patient and did an excellent job teaching my husband (who claims to have 2 left feet). Our dance turned out well and we received numerous compliments. Two minor things: sometimes the private rooms she rented were too small for us to do our whole dance (perhaps you can ask her ahead of time to be mindful of this) and we were a little frustrated that she wouldn't add on the 6th lesson at the same rate as the 1st five. However, despite these 2 small things, we would still highly recommend Anne-Marie to anyone looking for private dance lessons and would definitely use her again for future dance needs!

My fiancé and I never had any formal dance training before meeting with Anne-Marie and she easily exceeded our expectations of what we both could accomplish with only two hour-long dance lessons. She was very easy to work with and a consummate professional who taught us both basic and increasingly complex moves at our own pace and in simple, comprehensible terms. Week/Hour One: Learn how to lead and be led, a basic rumba box step with "Into the Mystic" playing in the background, and an entrance plus spin onto the dance floor. Go home and practice together every day until it's second nature (or at least until we aren't looking at the floor with each step). Week/Hour Two: Build on the slow-slow-quick-quick box, add a fifth position break, two chains, two 90 degree boxes, promenade spins, a grapevine, pivots, spins and the dramatic dip/resolve before making our dance floor exit. And guess what -- we danced a great rumba, and now have it (and a cheat-sheet if muscle-memory weakens) forever. Our guests could not believe that we had never taken lessons before Anne-Marie! We can easily recommend Anne-Marie to anyone looking to impress their guests and learn dance skills to last a lifetime!

We had a great time with Anne-Marie. She was organized and professional from the very beginning, promptly returning emails and calls throughout our time with her. We never had to worry. When there were decisions to be made, she walked us through our options and never put any pressure on us. She choreographed our dance beautifully, taught us the moves, and answered any questions we had.
