Reviews for Weddings By Debbie

These ladies did such a great job with helping me find my dress. I went in with a smaller budget & they did not flinch. I really wanted a simple dress & wanted to spend about $900. They took the time to pull dresses that were in my range. I had gone to a few other dress places & they would pull one or two dresses & basically wave me off. Weddings by Debbie worked hard for my business even though I was not spending a tremendous amount of money. I really appreciated their help. They also did a great job on my alterations. My dress was perfect.

I found my dress online and called every store in the state of Texas looking for the dress to try on. I happened to move to Houston that week when Wedding by Debbie called back a WEEK later. I bought the dress that weekend. The customer service could be worked on. No one seemed to really smile around there. They were helpful in trying to pick out dresses and accessories, but I had to push to try on different item that were they ideas. Alterations was hard since I moved away and had to book a couple months out. Speaking with them on the phone never seemed to be a good experience. The dress was beautiful, but if I could have found it somewhere else, I would have bought it there.

The team at Weddings by Debbie was incredible...from the actualy dress shopping to the alterations, everything went smooth and was wonderful. I especially appreciated the indiviudal attention by alterations, specfically Lupe and her team. They did an excellent job and addressed every concern and detail with professionalism.
Thank you to the whole team!

I went to four different bridal salons before I found "the one." Weddings by Debbie was the last on the list, and I pretty much had decided from the beginning that they too would not have what I was looking for. My bridal consultant was extremely helpful, attentive, and wanted to make sure that I got the dress of my dreams. I told her that my fiancee wanted a dress that would show off my figure with a plunging necklne and back. I wanted a dress that was mermaid or fit-to-flair. I was convinced that like the three other salons, this bridal consultant would have me try on many pretty dresses, but none that met all of my criteria. Boy was I wrong. The last dress she had me try on was a dress she selected. I was very reluctant to try it on, but as soon as I did and stepped out to look in the mirror, I just knew that this was it!!
Once I said yes to the dress, the store manager came over and congratulated me and assited me in picking out a veil, a matching jewelry. Each time I went back to the salon for my fittings adn to pick up my dress, the staff were incredily friendly and always helpful.
Weddings by Debbie ie reasonably priced for alterations and will house your dress onsite until your are ready to pick it up. They offer one free pressing and charge a small fee for additional pressings.
My mom also purchased her mother of the bride dresss and I purchased the dress for my rehearsal dinner.
I highly recommend this place for wedding dresses, mother of the bride dresses, and dresses for...

I bought my dress at Weddings by Debbie, which is really close to where I live, and I highly recommend Lina. She was not pushy, very bubbly and was great to shop around with.
I could over hear some of the other staff making unneccessary remarks and otherwise not friendly. My personal experience, however, was great.
I actually like that no children are allowed, and how you can take pictures of any dress you want. They have a HUGE selection in their showroom at all price levels. Once I told Lina my budget, she totally stuck with it. Their alteration expert, Lupe was AWESOME! Very sweet lady and actually saved me quite a bit of money with her experise and advice. (I wanted to add cups in my dress so that I wasn't spilling over the top, and she recommended against it, advising that the cups with add more. She didn't have to, but she did. She also was great for conversation and did the bustle phenomenally- also her...

I found my wedding dress here and it was beautiful! The price was ok. I really liked the store. Very pretty and well arranged. Its not overwhelming at all. I felt comfortable looking around and trying on different styles. As for the service the ladies were super snobby. Didn't like them AT ALL. But Lupe in Alterations was super sweet and really good at what she does which turned my experience around. I would recommend Weddings by Debbie only if you're going in with tunnel vision. Go in...get THE dress...and get out. Don't expect the over the top bridal experience. I went to 6 different bridal shops in Houston and this one had the best selection in my opinion

This place makes a bride feel like a princess! The customer service is amazing and the dress selection is never ending.

At first I absolutely loved this place. My sales rep was amazing.. so sweet and eager to help. I am pregnant and needed a dress quick and we still managed to find my dream dress. The tailor on the other hand can be a little rude and doesn't know how to handle customers. They also weren't the best at keeping up with my information as far as when I needed my alterations scheduled etc. I do have to say though they were very accomodating for me being pregnant, they didn't charge extra for our last minute alterations.

I had Lina at Weddings by Debbie and she was so sweet and helpful. She knew everything there is to know about wedding dresses. I didn't feel pressured or that she was trying to make a sale right then and there. She understood that buying a wedding dress is a big decision and even extending the discount for buying your dress the same day. The alterations dept. was great and made sure my dress fit perfect!! You won't be disapointed with LINA so make sure you ask for her when making your appointement!!!

This was the first place I went to look for my dress, and I am so glad I did! I only tried on 3 dresses and I had found "the one." The staff was great and the alterations did a great job as well. The overall experience was incredible!

I was treated in a very professional way since I first made a call to schedule an appointment till the very last communication I had with them. I already knew what gown I wanted but still tried on others. At the end I ended up purchasing the one I had my heart and mind set to it. My consultant was very nice and helpful. My gown came in way earlier than the expected arrival date. They were good about calling me once it came in. The gown was not damage in any way and was more beautiful than I had last seen it. I didn't get alterations there either or the complimentary steam because the location it is very far from were I live. I didn't purchase no extra items at the boutique such as veil and hair accessories because I thought they were too overpriced. As for the petticoat I thought the price was very reasonable. Alsom I thought the dressing rooms were a great size. Not to small not to big. Overall I highly recommended to go give this boutique a try. It will be a nice experience.

Lina was amazing there! The people there aren't the nicest. Come on you have one of the best jobs in the world...SMILE! The dresses are beautiful! Alterations is a little wishy washy. They are usually late for appointments but they got the job done. I wouldn't trust my dress with just anyone. I would go back there again even though I know what to expect.

The selection of my wedding dress went pretty well. I took only my Mom and her and I got there and pretty much walked the store looking at different styles. They have it arranged by budget price so that made it pretty easy. The sales consultant was helpful and as we were looking brought some dresses and if I said I didn't like them she didn't pressure me to try them on or anything. In the end it came down to 2 and they helped me get in and out of them as much as I needed to so I could compare and make a decision. So that was a good experience. However, anytime I would call the store after purchasing the dress whoever answered often seemed unfriendly and to have an attitude problem. Someone had called me to tell me that my dress was in and made me an appointment for alterations. I called not 5 minutes later to change the date from that Thursday to the next Tuesday and was told that the person who schedules the alterations wasn't in that day. I said really? Well there's a Jessica or Jennifer who just called me and I just scheduled an appointment and she insisted on no, there's nobody there by that name. I said to let me talk to someone else and that's when she's like oh, hold one moment, I think she might be here. Even on one occasion when my Mom and I went to look for her mother of the bride dress we walked in and weren't greeted right away, the lady at the computer didn't even lift her head to acknowledge us so I thought ok, well we're just going to go look then. As we made our way to the left where they have those dresses she all of a sudden looks up and says, 'Ma'am, ma'am." Then I guess we were important. By then it was too late for me and I kept walking but my Mom went out and talked to her.
The actual alterations were great. I'm short and my dress was long and had a long train and it was going to have to be bustled. I was a little putoff at first because it seemed the lady had an attitude without me even coming out of the dressing room but there was nobody else I would trust to work on my dress so I put that aside and went out there. I could tell she was having a rough day because people kept coming up to her while she was working with me so I let it slide. By the end of my appointment she was much better and she was great on the appointment after that. She did a wonderful job and everyone loved the way the bustle looked at the reception. But as everyone else says, the appointments do tend to run late. We'd show up on time and have to wait maybe 30 minutes. But Lupe did a truly great job and I'm glad I got them done there.

This is a great place to purchase your dress. The shop is very beautiful and large. There are many dresses there for the bride and her party. They also offer 10% off if you purchase at your 1st appointment and 10% to your bride's maids. They also do alterations and the lady that does them is wonderful. I loved working with her. She was funny, quick and made sure that my dress turned out perfect. Only down side is that you aren't allowed to bring anyone under the age of 12. I completely understand this rule but unfortunatly my niece was 11 and also a Jr. Bride's maid. Overall I loved shopping there.

If you are looking for selection and great service on the purchasing side, you have found the right place! They have a huge selection of the best name brand wedding gown designers. You don't want to pass them up if you are simply looking at all your options. I tried on 50+ wedding dresses before I found the one here! There is absolutely no pressure to buy and you get a discount on your first visit. My dress even came in early. Make an appointment and don't cancel because they book up pretty fast.
The alterations side of the situation is a bit different. You MUST have an appointment for everything. From alterations to steaming to picking the dress up and dropping it off again, you have to have an appointment. Alterations are a bit high priced for me and added over $1000 to my final total but it was worth it and the woman that does the alterations here is amazing, she knows what she is doing. The appointments here are not very convenient and they aren't flexible but if you can make it work. Also, it is very hard to get a hold of someone on the telephone on this side because they are always so busy and they might not call you back. You have to pay for alterations up front!
They were always friendly when I walked in the door and did try to make as many accomodations as possible. They even wrote sweet notes on my dress wrapping when we picked it up for portraits and the wedding day. Great place!

The consultant I had was very helpful! It only took me saying that I liked the look of a dress I saw in there that was wayyy out of my budget and she brought me pretty much a replica of that dress in a different designer and for much less! She pulled all of the dresses that I had looked up online as well and then still brought me dresses that matched my taste that she thought I would like. The business itself is amazing as well. I loved that they dont allow children in the store, I know that may hinder some people but it was actually refreshing to be able to enjoy that moment with my bridesmaids with champagne and all without a bunch of kids running around like they have no parents. They just remodelled and the store is so beautiful! They also have bridesmaids and mother of the bride section as well as a whole prom section. Very pleased with my experience.

Very professional, dresses were a little expensive. Alterations were WAY over priced!

I purchased my wedding dress at Weddings by Debbie in December 2010. The store has a great selection of dresses and my consultant was patient and helpful. Their prices seemed reasonable. I found my dress after trying on 10 or so other gowns and purchased it on my first visit.
The helpfulness of the staff ends after you purchase your gown. The only people who were pleasant to work with after I paid for the dress were the nice women in the pressing department.
I was told it would take 6 months for my dress to come in. I was trying to schedule bridal photographs with my photographer (I had moved out of state by this time and needed to schedule my bridals in advance so that I could buy plane tickets, etc) and called the store after 5 months to see if they could tell me that my dress would be in on time. At 10 am one of the staff told me that they would check and call me back in a few minutes. When I hadn't heard anything by 6 pm, I called back to check on my request. The manager YELLED at me for calling back and told me that my dress had already arrived at the store and that I needed to pay the balance right away. I told her that there was no way I would pay for the remainder of the dress without seeing it and made an appointment to come in to try the dress on during my next visit to Houston, which was two weeks away. During that two week time I received two more calls from the same rude manager telling me to pay for the dress!
I came in to try on the dress at 6 pm on a weeknight (ie no bridal sales were occurring then) and the difference in the staff attitudes from my first visit was stunning. We could hear staff members fighting and cursing in the back room and the alterations woman was fighting with a family who was there getting a prom dress altered.
We asked them to price the alterations that were necessary, just for a point of reference. It was difficult to communicate with their alterations staff and the faces of the other customers in the room told me that I did not want to use them for my alterations! We took my dress to Katy Bridal and Tux for its alterations (HIGHLY recommend their seamstress Kristen!!!) and found that the alterations estimate that Weddings by Debbie had provided was TWICE the amount that Katy Bridal and Tux charged.
My mother and I decided that we needed to get the dress out of there ASAP! We scheduled the free pressing and she picked it up the following week. So glad to be done with Weddings by Debbie!
If you are looking for any level service in addition to a wedding dress PLEASE GO ELSEWHERE!!!!!!

I loved this place! Too bad I never plan on buying another wedding dress. Their new location is beautiful inside. The staff made it a very pleasant and easy experience. My dress was perfect! And, after the wedding, they were very helpful in supplying dress preservation resources.

They have three different departments - Sales, Alterations, and Pressing/Cleaning
Sales - the sales department is immediately warm and welcoming (even more so if you are dressed nicely and come with your entourage). Kate was my salesperson and she was AMAZING! The best part of my experience at the store. Everyone else made me feel rushed and pressured to purchase more than just the gown. I was not called upon my gown's arrival and I had to keep checking back. That was a bit frustrating since I was on a short timeline. I liked the 10% buy on first visit offer and over all I was very happy with my unique and beautiful dress.
Alterations - They were the most busy but accommodating people ever. Lupe definitely runs a tight ship and she tells it like it is and with my last minute emergency alterations, she really helped me out A LOT!! I do agree that alterations cost a lot but in the end, everything worked out. My dress was so unique that it was best to do it in-house. Make sure you check EVERYTHING about the dress and that it's right - I like how they don't let you leave until you're 100% satisfied so make sure you check! I also suggest WALKING ON CARPET in the dressing room after your dress has been altered. They have a wooden floor in the main area but if you're going to walk on carpet on your big day, it'll make a HUGE difference! I almost tripped going down the aisle so I feel like it should've been a bit shorter in the front.
Pressing/Cleaning - THEY'RE THE BEST and nicest people there!! They were the last people I faced and it was just a breath of fresh air to be greeted with such genuineness!
I am only recommending this vendor due to their large selection of dresses.

Realize that buying a wedding gown is only 1% of the event...having it ready and perfect the day of the wedding is the other 99%.
Great SALES staff thus the 2 stars...but buyer BEWARE!! The friendliness and professionalism stopped after the dress was paid for in full! The Dress was ordered 9 months in advance and was ordered 3" longer due to my daughter's height, no additional alterations were to be made to this size 4 dress. We received a call that the dress was in but would have to wait 3 wks to get an appt. for her intial fitting due to their backlog of clients. No problem, we still had 3 months to go before the wedding. They NEVER checked the dress to make sure the order had been filled properly. Not only had the added length not been done, the order was read incorrectly and the dress was made 3" SHORTER!! This made it 6" too short!!!! This is not the experience you want as a bride-to-be! We understand mistakes can be made, but when I questioned the alterations dept. head as to why this wasn't discovered until we got there for our appointment, she insulted me by telling me that the $2500.00 dress was NOT considered couture so they had no reason to check it!!!!!!!!!!!! A 2nd dress was rush ordered only to arrive at the original length which was 3" too short still.
The entire back of the dress had to be undone and REDONE not once but TWICE!! Not because we were unreasonable, but because the entire train of the dress was sown to the left of center...2 X's!!! They lost emails of changes that were PAID for in advance! When I got tired of being referred to as Mrs. ____, my ex's last name and asked the lady to please call me by my actual last name, she responded with "well you know what I mean"!
We live 80 miles from this boutique and all of the extra trips because of their lack of professionalism and customer service cost us a pretty penny! They were inconsiderate and rude. On one of the visits, the owner, Debbie, came out to watch our fitting. She stood off to the side and never once introduced herself! They did give us a credit of $100.00 on the dress for not lengthening it the 2nd time, but only because we PAID to have it lengthened...we had to settle with the original dress length of 3" too short because at this point in time we had NO OTHER CHOICE, it was too late to order a 3rd dress! It was too late to go anywhere else unless we wanted to settle for an off the hanger dress! I made the grave mistake of not reading the reviews on Weddings by Debbie BEFORE we went there to look. My daughter had seen an add for discounts on bridesmaids dresses and a discounted price for the gown if she purchased on her 1st visit, my mistake!! Needless to say, we bought the bridesmaid's dresses at Princess Bridal in Spring, TX. My biggest regret is that we did not buy my daughter's wedding gown there as well! I truly hope that anyone considering Weddings by Debbie takes this review to heart and goes elsewhere!! I pray that EVERY bride has a wonderful dress experience because in my book, it's one of the MOST IMPORTANT events of the whole process...DO NOT chance ruining your experience by shopping here!

I purchased my dress at Weddings By Debbie, and I absolutely LOVED my dress. I was measured perfectly and I did not require any alterations other than having my bustle done. I was a little worried when I had read previous reviews with them doing the alterations, but as long as you do not wait until the last minute to find your dress and you allow a good 6-8 months for delivery and alterations you will be fine. I did not have any issues with scheduling my fittings or with the alterations department. The only reason I did not give an overall 5 star rating, is because they did not call me when my dress arrived in the store. I just happened to give them a call a week after it was due to be in, and it was not until then they said yes my dress had arrived. Other than that the service was great.

Such a wonderful array of bridal gowns. I wsn't expecting to fall in love with a dress so below my budget. It was half off! The alterations department were WONDERFUL!! They are angels with a needle! They were able to take in my dress, add buttons down the back (the designer forgot to add), hem, the bussle. in three days! I had to pay a small rush fee.

Weddings by Debbie has a HUGE selection of gowns! They have gowns in every budget range. They get booked up quickly so booking an appointment is very important. Alterations was great in getting me what I wanted even though they were running late most of the times I was there. On the flip side though when I had a bridal moment and freaked about my dress the alterations manager fit me in, fixed everything how I wanted it and had it done in three days. Alterations was wonderful. My only complaint is that there can be a bit of a snooty attitude floating around but the sales manager is a wonderful lady and very sweet!

Got my wedding dress here and had a great experience. Be warned that this is an upscale wedding dress shop and therefore the dresses and services are going to be on the expensive side. They were great to work with, very professional and took the time to help me find the perfect dress. They are a very busy shop so it is difficult to get in for fittings but other than that, no complaints!

I bought my dress from Weddings By Debbie. I would highly recommend them for buying your dress. Now, alterations is a completely different story. I unfortunately had a very bad experience! First, the day I thought I was having my bustling appointment, I asked them specifically, "Do I need to bring my sister with me to learn how to do the bustle?" The said yes and I said okay. WDB rule is that you can not bring children under 12 yrs of age in the store, which is a good rule. So my sisters has 2 children we had to find a sitter for so we could go to the appointment together. When we arrived we found out it wasn't the bustle appointment and just another alterations appointment. Frustrated, I said okay, and "re-scheduled" the bustle appointment. Inconveniently my sister was going to be out of town the following 2 wks so I had to ask another bridesmaid to come with me to the new bustling apt. She has 3 children under 12 y/o, so again we had to find a sitter to come to WBD and sit with them in the car while she came in with me. We waited 45 min. to be told that the dress wasn't ready and we would have to leave and re-schedule. I think anyone at this point would be frustrated. I said okay, now with 1 wk out from the wedding I went to the 3rd "bustling" apt. It was a success, but I did have some requests. When the dress was bustled there was tool hanging out of the sides and lace along both sides of my ankles that draped on the floor about 7 inches past my normal height. Along with the front bottom of my dress being unleveled. The front left was about 1 inch higher than the front right side and looked awful. I asked for them to please: cut the extra tool out, add a bustle to each side of my ankles to take the extra lace off the floor so it wouldn't drag the ground after I was bustled, and to hem up the front right side of my dress to make it lay evenly so it would look right when everyone watched me walk down the aisle. Lupe (alterations assistant) agreed and said it would all be done and not to worry, mind you I felt very rushed b/c she had to fit me in to her schedule since the dress hadn't been completed previously when they said it would be ready. Now, since my appointment and been changed 3 different times and mind you its 1 wk until the wedding I had to schedule my pick up for the day of the wedding. When I went to pick up the dress I only noticed that the front had STILL NOT BEEN LEVELED! I expressed my frustration but knew my wedding was in a few hours and couldn't have it fixed and was told that it isn't too noticeable. Not until after the ceremony when I was being bustled in the back room before we left for the reception did I realized that the extra tool had NEVER BEEN TOUCHED, and the 2 extra bustles were never placed. I had to safety pin the two sides up of the extra lace into my dress. I then spent over 30 MINUTES hand ripping the tool out with my two of my bridesmaids and my new husband helping me. We didn't have scissors or a knife so we had to rip it out with our hands and my husband's keys. Unfortunately I was very very late to the reception and missed out on about 45 minutes it and caused a large delay for my guests. You would expect after paying over $800 in alterations to Weddings By Debbie that would at least get some things right. I feel that they knew that I wouldn't be picking my dress up until the day of the wedding and at that point I would just have to deal with it!

I loved loved loved my wedding dress!! & so did everyone at our wedding. I definitely felt like a PRINCESS & never felt so beautiful. Exactly how I wanted to feel on the day of our wedding. The lady who attended me was extremely sweet & I loved working with her. I cant thank her enough to have made me feel comfortable & at ease to had placed my order on my dress. I was a Maggie Sottero bride!! Everybody was very nice. The alterations were a bit high & didnt expect to have paid so much but I was running out of time & didnt have anyone I trusted enough with my dress. The other dislike, location. It was extremely far from home & they were always so booked it was hard to work around my schedule & theirs.

Weddings by Debbie was by far the best bridal salon that I visited while on my dress search. If you are expecting an experience like "Say Yes to the Dress" with attentive consultants and a wide selection, this is the place to go. They have an amazing selection for every budget, and I was thrilled to find a lot of unique options at this shop. I had looked all over town, through countless pictures on the internet and magazines, and thought I was going to have to get my dress custom made, but I found that special dress that just perfect for my big day at Weddings by Debbie!

The team at Weddings by Debbie is very professional and has beautiful dresses! I got a beautiful dress for a great price as it was a sample I bought off the rack. I would highly recommend you check out their huge selection of dresses. The only dissapointing aspect was their accessories selection is small and overpriced. I would recommend getting the jewelry from Tejani instead.

Weddings by Debbie does have an amazing dress selection BUT they need to improve their business practices. I bought my dress from there in October 2010. My first appointment was wonderful. I met with Gene, and she was so helpful. She stuck to dresses under my budget too. I had an idea of a style dress that I thought I wanted but she knew better. She pulled one dress like I wanted for me to try on and I hated it. Then she had the dresses she thought would look best on me. I fell in love with a Maggie Sottero Gown that had just come out.
I did buy the dress that day but I will say that I felt really pressured into it. The sales manager came over and put the pressure on. Also, I was pressured into buying the dress into a size that was too big. The gown I had on was huge on me and they said it was my right size. I watched her measure me and she did it very quick and loosely. She said that they would take care of all of my alterations in the store. I felt like she was pressuring me to get the bigger size so that they would get the alterations business. I went with my better instinct and ordered the size below against her opinion and when it came in, it fit perfect. I didn't even have to get alterations except for the bussel.
When my dress came in, I made an appointment for a try on because my mom had not seen the dress. I saw Gene again and she had a completely different attitude. My mother was shocked that this sales woman who had already gotten the commission from my gown was acting like she had better things to do than be helping me with my gown. She was short and was hurrying us. Not the best impression on my mother. For a place that is no nice, we both felt like once they got our business they were done impressing. They had already made their sale.
My next complaint.... Alterations. I needed a bussel which is not the most difficult. My gown did needed a french bussel which took a little more time but was not worth what they wanted to charge. Their alterations fees are absurd. Because my dress came in within 8 weeks of my wedding, there was a rush fee tacked onto an already expensive price. I waited until about a month before my wedding to make an appointment with alterations because I just didn't have the extra funds to have this done. I was told that they wouldn't even see me for a fitting until 3 days before my wedding and that additional fees would be added. They are crazy!!! I picked up the dress the next day and drove it to Austin(where my wedding was held) and found a seamstress that added the bussel to the dress. To my SHOCK though, the seamstress found a tear and a pen mark on the dress. When I had tried my dress on for the first time, the threads holding a piece of the dress had completely come apart. The seamstress I had was wonderful! She completed my dress in just a couple days and charged me about 1/4 of the price that Weddings by Debbie wanted to charge.
They do have an amazing dress selection so I recommend going there to look at dresses but buy it somewhere else. I will not be recommending them to anyone ever!

Lena was my consultant, she was very sweet and best of all- not one of those pushy sales people who make your dress experience terrible. She was NEVER pushy yet was very helpful. She took her time with me and paid close attention to details. The store is very nice and quite spacious. You HAVE to make an appt. it's def. a highend place not like David's Bridal so you get what you pay for!!! My dress was from a Spanish desginer and I loved it and the quality. I recommened this place, yes it may be more expensive than other stores BUT this IS your wedding dress and the service is amazing. I walked into David's Bridal one day and felt SO blessed that I did not have to deal with them for my wedding dress- Weddings by Debbie is elegant, classy and professional. You owe to yourself- it's your big day!

Trying my dress on was a great experience, Kate was amazing and so patient and helped me find the perfect dress. It was after that -- that everything just went downhill from there. They called me a few weeks later to tell me my veil was in. My mom went in and picked it up paid off the balance and now we were just waiting for my dress to come in. In the meantime, I made an appointment with my bridesmaids so they could try on dresses and I had asked if I could try on the sample of my dress while I was there to get an idea of what all of us would look like together. When I got there, I asked if I could try on the sample and got the RUDEST look from the girl behind the main counter. Low and behold she finally comes out with a dress in a bag, with my name on it!?!?!?!?! I asked her if that was MY actual dress and she looked at me like I was retarded. I told her NOBODY had called to let me know the dress was in...and she threw my dress down, and said "I seriously doubt that." They "checked" their records and said that when they called me to tell me my veil was here they also told me my dress was here. UMMMMM DONT YOU THINK I WOULD HAVE PICKED UP MY DRESS HAD I KNOW IT WAS HERE. THATS A LITTLE MORE IMPORTANT THAN THE VEIL. I was more concerned about their policy (if its not paid for in 10 days they send it back or some BS like that).... and I told them, don't you think when my mom came in to pay for the veil, SOMEONE would have at that time said, OH THE DRESS IS HERE TOO. HELLOOOOOOOO people.
So whatever, the issue was over and done with there wasn't anything I could do at that point, I was just happy my dress was in (they told me it would be November, my dress got here in July). So I asked if I could try it on (mind you I had already paid 60% of the dress cost and my mom was coming in THAT afternoon to pay the balance). The girl looked at me and rudely responded "store policy says youre not allowed to try on your dress without paying the balance in full." Are you kidding me? I'm not trying to LEAVE with my dress, I'm TRYING IT ON IN THE STORE. Do you honestly think I'm going to run out of the store with this dress? So fine, whatever, here is my card, charge the rest of the dress, I just freaking want to TRY MY DRESS ON.
So as I'm at the front paying for the rest of my balance, my bridesmaids are standing near the dressing rooms and LOUDLY the two girls working there turn to my bridesmaids and say "I hope one of you is going to help her get into the dress because I'm sure not." And walked off.
These girls were the most unprofessional, rude, and UNHAPPY people I have ever met. Needless to say I tried to dress on with no help from them and my bridesmaids were a little upset at the type of service we received. So next was to try to make an appointment for alterations. I figured whats done is done, although they are not friendly to deal with, maybe it would be different with the alterations department. For TWO WEEKS straight, I called and left numerous messages about needing to schedule an appointment because I had my bridal portraits coming up. Not ONE single phone call or email was returned to me. At this point, with what happened earlier, I decided to speak to the owner's daughter, AJ. I complained about the quality of service and how as much money as I was spending in their store, there was no confidence in the service they offer. She even pointed out that the so called policy her associates were talking about -- for paying the dress in full -- was a load of BS and that is NOT store policy and girls come in there ALL the time to try on their dress without having paid in full.
She assured me the proper associates would be talked to and asked that I only deal directly with her and make the appointments WITH HER so not to have to deal with her incompetent staff. She would measure me and pin me herself and assured me that I would receive outstanding service.
So last week, I went in for my appointment with AJ -- I walked in and told them my name. The girl at the front looked at me like I was crazy, and said AJ WAS OUT OF TOWN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Are you JOKING ME!?!?! I went absolutely bizerk and had a few words with the manager on duty (who also happened to be the manager that never responded to my emails). After making a scene, they finally said they would "work me in." After waiting about 30 minutes (because they couldn't find my dress) -- I was worked in and have finally started the alterations process.
This is absolutely the WORST experience I have ever had with anyone in a customer service type industry. As a bride, you are under enough stress and pressure, the last thing you want to deal with is issues with your dress and the people who sell them to you. The girls that work here are extremely unprofessional and rude. If I could change anything, it would be NOT to buy my dress from here. Good luck to all you other brides dress shopping, AVOID THIS STORE AT ALL COSTS.

I loved buying a dress at Weddings by Debbie. I had a personal consultant who went around the shop with me and helped me select dresses to try on. Her name is Paula and I would highly recommend you book a consultationwith her. They have satin couches where people can sit and watch you show off the dresses you're trying on. The prices are great too. If you buy a wedding dress at Weddings by Debbie, you get the "Say Yes to the Dress" experience for a fraction of the price. That said, this review is only for PURCHASING a gown. I wanted to add beading to my dress. I was told I would be able to see a small part of the dress beaded before any additional beading work was done. They said beading a small part of the dress (2" x 2") would take 1-2 weeks. 3 weeks later, no beading was done so I took my dress elsewhere to be altered.

My dress was fabricated in Barcelona, where the designer, Rosa Clara, is based. Though we ordered nearly 9 months in advance of the wedding, an influx of orders for this designer led to some nerve-wracking delays in the arrival of my gown here in the states. My mother checked in with the shop frequently to track the progress of my dress; some of the people she talked to were helpful, and some were not (talk to A.J.!). Overall, the they seemed to be dismissive of our concerns. Also, I believe that they purposely advise brides to order at least one size too large in order to garner business in their alterations departments. I could have easily order a size smaller, and they still would have had to alter my gown; I paid an extra $60 on top of the original alteration fees for a second alteration, which I had to fight the seamstress to get because she argued that my fit and flare gown wasn't supposed to be tight (uh, how do you interpret the fit part of fit and flare?). All that being said, the gown arrived on time, A.J., the owner, was patient and helpful, and the gown ultimately looked fabulous.

Weddings by Debbie had the largest selection of dresses of any of the places I went and the prices were about average. I liked my dress a lot and the alterations people were so nice (lupe was the alterations lady). I have to lower my rating a little though because the bridesmaid dress area woman is terrible. She forced my girls to go up 2 sizes and when their dresses came they were all way too big (we figure that guaranteed that we would alter them and pay more). She was also really rude and disappeared in the middle of our sizing for about 20 minutes, so we were sitting there waiting and didn't know where she went. She even told one of my girls that she had to get a 12 because she has a big bottom. She usually wears an 8. That girl was ridiculous.
So, other than the bridesmaid woman (I never got her name), everyone else was awesome and helpful. They were flexible when I had to reschedule and when my girls showed up late to alterations (twice). Overall, I recommend this place.

My wedding dress and bridesmaids dresses all came from Weddings by Debbie. I would highly reccommend going here. When I walked in I felt like a princess. I had my alterations done here and the only complaint that I have is that I had to wait a while even though I had my appointment. If your bridesmaids need alterations I would suggest having them done elsewhere as it is a little pricey. Overall, I had a wonderful experience with Weddings by Debbie.

Here is the thing about Weddings by Debbie...They probably have the best selection of wedding dresses in Houston. They have tons and tons, and the sales ladies are fabulous. I would highly recommend that you buy your dress here...but by all means, TAKE IT SOMEWHERE ELSE TO BE ALTERED!!! Their seamstress is rude and don't seem to be terribly well organized. After I told them about some issues on my dress MULTIPLE times, and they assured me they would fix them, they were still not fixed on my wedding day. Their alterations are also extremely overpriced...they nickle and dime you for every little thing. The money I spent on alteration was as much as I spent on the dress itself. Please take my warning and save yourself the headache.

I loved my Maggie Soterro gown purchased at Weddings by Debbie. I had been to a few other bridal shops, and Weddings by Debbie by far was the most elegant, clean shop I experienced. It's designed to sell wedding gowns - bright, open and welcoming feel. I'm not so sure my coordinator Lena was really all that helpful ... I kind of feel like I found my own perfect dress, and she just helped me get in and out of it. She also has an annoying voice ... hehe ... just a warning in case you're OCD and particular like I am about crazy things! The alterations department can be a bit too snippy at times, but they're under a lot of pressure and deal with crazy brides all day long, so I kind of understand. In the end, Lupe altered my dress perfectly for my body and my wedding day was perfect because of it. I would reccomend this shop to any future bride - especially on a budget. I got a gorgeous gown, looked like a million bucks but only spend around $1200-1400 in TOTAL after all alterations, bustle, etc.
Don't buy into their shoes or accessories, they're ugly and way overpriced! Shop Etsy.com for handmade accessories and shop online for your favorite pair of shoes. You can always crystalize them yourself, and/or add bows/roses/etc.

I never imagined I would find the perfect dress on day one of dress shopping, but I did! The staff was very professional and helped me find the perfect dress imediately. It was a bit more than we planned to spend but it was absolutely BEAUTIFUL! I felt like such a princess on my big day, just like every bride should. :-)

Oh my gosh…do I love my dress! I kept telling everyone all night that other than my husband, my dress was my pride and joy! My experience with Weddings by Debbie was great, and I truly cannot imagine having worn any other dress on my wedding day. If you are looking for something a little more modern and unique, I would highly recommend checking out their selection of Pronovias dresses!
My only complaint is that it was sometimes difficult to talk to someone about bridesmaids dresses. I know a few of my bridesmaids had to call back several times just to be able to give their measurements and pay. I feel like they need more than one person working in that department.
But in terms of the bridal selection, service, etc., I was very pleased. And they pressed my dress for free the week of the wedding, so it was in perfect condition for our day!
GUEST

I loved my experience with Weddings by Debbie! It was 3rd or 4th wedding shop and by far the best experience. They had such a great selection, I ended up with about 3 dresses that I really liked. The best part was that I liked the cheapest one!
GUEST

I origionally found my dress at Brick House Bridal, but it was $400 more than Weddings by Debbie. So that was really awesome! They have an enormous selection, something in everyones price range.
My only complaints:
You are not allowed to look freely without someone right by your side.
They are not kid frendily, they do not allow children in the building, they are even somewhat rude about it!
For such a large building, I just wished they where a 1 stop shop. Since they did not all children I could not match my flower girl to their bridesmaids dress easily.

If you want to feel confident and happy about your wedding dress...GO SOMEWHERE ELSE!!! I bought my dress here over a year before my wedding. And good thing I did, because the first time my dress came in it was ordered in the wrong size. It took over 7 months to finally get my dress in the store in the right size! Then alterations was horrible. Every appointment I had with them (which was 5+ appointments) I was made to sit and wait in my dress for 30 min-1 hour. And when it was finally my turn, Lupe (the manager) as rushed and rude. And good luck trying to get anyone you need to talk to (alterations, AJ, etc.) on the phone. Every time I would call I got the standard response "i'm sorry, she is with a bride." Hello! What do you think I am. I would never dignify them with a recommendation or my future business!!!

One of the best shops in the Houston Area!
I purchased my gown from Wedding by Debbie before their big move. I had a wonderful consultant, Lina who truly made my shopping experience an enjoyable one. She really took her time with me and even helped me with my veil dilemma although I did not buy it from there.
The climate of the salon has changed since they moved to Katy which is a downer but I still had a great experience while having my alterations completed. The alterations ladies were very sweet and as accommodating as they could be given their schedule. I would recommend buying a dress from them to anyone.

Loved my dress and it got so many compliments. This salon has so many dresses to choose from and the staff is very helpful and nice. Only negative...alterations girl told me she would replace the top hook and eye since it broke off to help secure my dress and never did. They just have you look at your dress when you pick it up so I did not catch this until I was in Ohio about to get married!!! Just glad the zipper did all the work and you couldn't tell it was missing.
I liked that they store your dress and press it when you are ready to pick it up for free.
Try on your dress before you leave the salon with it.

Weddings By Debbie did a fantastic job with my wedding dress & veil, as well as my bridesmaids dresses. The new location on I-10 and Fry Road is beautiful, and has plenty of space to really show off the dresses. Everyone, from the receptionist to the dress consultatant to the steaming department and alterations did a fantastic job of keeping me and my 5 bridesmaids happy. My dress was one of the easiest parts of getting married!
GUEST

My experience here was pretty good. The prices were worth the fit, but did still seem too high. I got the dress of my dreams! I love how many designers they carry, but I didn't like how long it took for the dress to get in.

This place was amazing! They had the dress of my dreams. They are the only place in Houston that sells the designer I have always loved, Eve of Milady, and when the dress and veil arrived I was floored. Alterations came out so perfect and the workers are so sweet! I referred my friends there and they loved it too! Great place and lots of selections!

I bought a prom dress from this store. I went to the store at the end of January to order my dress. They claimed I would receive it by about mid-March, but then they turned around and said it would come in by April 17. They kept redirecting my mother from employee to employee without any direct answers. They were very unprofessional in the way in which they handled the situation. They then said my alterations would take three weeks, which leads to no time between receiving my dress and prom. They attempted to set an alteration date even though a receival date was not in existence. Overall,we were very displeased with this store.

I had found a dress I wanted to buy at a store in Virginia, but I wanted to buy the actual dress in Houston, Texas because that's where our wedding would be, so I called around and this was the only store that sold that brand (Eve of Milady) -- the sales associate I talked to (Lina Magdaleno) was very professional and courteous over the phone (from Virginia where I live). But, we had some problems once I came into the store -- I was basically trying to make sure the dress I saw in another store was the EXACT same one I was ordering from WBD. When we felt content we had communicated the right style number and other information for a minor alteration on the beadwork, we ordered the dress. It came in about 6 months later as promised. However, since I was doing all my wedding planning from out of town, it was extremely frustrating that every time I would call to check to see when my dress would arrive in store so I could book my plane tickets back to Texas for the first fitting, the staff was so rude and completely unhelpful. The other reviewers on here are correct that they are so nice to you up until the point you buy the dress and then they get real nasty and rude once you give them your money. I had problems with the alterations department being so rude and inflexible and trying to nickel-and-dime you without being able to tell you what EXACTLY you are being charged for. I was surprised that they were so inflexible and inefficient in booking appointments for someone like me who was clearly living way out of state and HAD to have a solid appointment set way in advance so I could buy plane tickets down there and get off work! Also, when I was in the alterations appointments, Lupe was very rude and tried to get me to make changes I did not want or would resist the changes I wanted made! Incredible! In the end, my dress came out in good shape and I felt wonderful in it, but the aggraveting process along the way made me second guess my choice to buy at WBD -- maybe the shipping costs from Virginia for my dress would have been less of a headache and cost less than the frustration the WBD staff caused my mother and I as we tried to settle the whole affair!

Loved my consultant Paula. She stayed within my budget. Their policies are very ridged - and they don't mess around. No special favors here if you want to try to "change the rules" or policies!

WORST DRESS BUYING EXPERIENCE EVER!!! I went to Weddings by Debbie (WBD) after making an appt. They have a huge selection of dresses and it was pretty overwhelming. My consultant was a limp noodle, wasn't personable at all. After trying on 5-6 dresses, I felt I was pressured to by a dress that I kind of liked. They kept pushing the "10% off on your first visit" deal. Advice to brides: if you're on the fence about a dress, wait to buy it! Don't buy a dress just because you get it cheaper that day. But I decided to buy the dress. I got measured and we wanted to have a lace edge put around the bottom of the dress. AJ said she would call us back with the estimate in 3-4 weeks. Never heard from her. We tried calling and we left messages. AJ finally called and said since they just moved locations, everything was still crazy and she would call back with an estimate. Again, we never heard from her. After 4 months, my dress came in. When I went to pick it up, the lady just handed it to me, you don't get to try it on or anything! And when we mentioned the lace, the lady told us that AJ said she called us and left a message and she was in a meeting now so she was too busy to deal with us. Give me a break! These people act like they high class, but really they have this sketchy store with sketchy workers. I tried the dress on at home and it's TERRIBLE. The proportions are way off and it seems cheaply made, even though it's a "designer" gown. A month after I bought the WBD dress, I bought a different one since I had bad feelings about the one from here. Thank God!! My new dress is perfect and the place I bought it from is amazing. I learned so much from this experience and I hope my review helps everyone else. Take my advice and go elsewhere. If you go here and get a bad feeling, get out of there fast before they pressure you into buying!!!
GUEST

Overall a very pleasant experience with WDBD. Alterations cost about as much as my dress even though it was ordered to fit my waist, which was a shock but apparently not uncommon. They worked with me to order a very simple/affordable veil which was exactly what I was looking for. Sales associates and tailor were very helpful and friendly.
GUEST

My dress was absolutely beautiful. I was forced to pick a dress from the discontinued dresses because they said that there would be no time to order a dress in time for my wedding. Whatever happened to rush delivery? So, I had to beg (seriously) the manager to sell the dress that I liked to me.
Alterations...haha! GO SOME WHERE ELSE! I'm not kidding. I read the reviews which warned me of the alteration people and they were not kidding. I came to my alteration appointment and another girl was trying on my dress, which I had already bought!!!! shocking. And my mom had to go up to the store twice to make sure that the beading was being properly replaced on the dress before the big day. You would think that they would do this for you anyway. If we hadn't checked-it wouldn't have been done.
The alteration lady is pushy and seems rushed. Lupe needs a vacation. Poor lady.

Weddings by Debbie, is the biggest bridal store in Houston. They have a beautiful selection. My dress, OMG, it was so beautiful, couture style, expensive but beautifull and very good quality. The designer I had was Pronovias (made in Spain). I loved it, and everyone else did too. They have a great selection, and different prices. I will have to complain about the alteration services, they are very rude, not very nice. I understand they are busy 24/7, but they do not have to take it on the customers, who is helping them get work. Alterations are very expensive so I will recommend to fine or look somewhere else. Bridesmaid dresses, are beautiful there. My bridesmaid got there dresses there, but got alterations with someone else I know, which she did a great job and a fair cost. My wedding gown I had to get alterations made there WBD, because my dress was really complicated. It turn out great, pricy, but not very good service from the staff.
GUEST

I was very happy with Weddings by Debbie. They had a great selection of beautiful gowns. The woman that helped me (can't remember a name) tried very hard to find me my perfect dress. Plus if you go with the dress the day you come you get a discount. They tell you to make an appointment, but when I went I was planning on just looking around so I didn't. At first they acted like they were going to give me a hard time and said I needed to make an appointment even to look, but there was someone available to help me at the time so it was fine. I think they expect you to have a wedding planner to help you know what to do, because I did get the feeling that they assumed I'd done it before.
Overall though I really liked the place; especially because it's local and not a chain. I was lucky that I didn't need any alterations except for the bustle, which was around $100 which we assumed we'd be spending anyway. I was very happy with my dress, the only thing I would recommend another bride is to go there last, so if you find your dress there you can get the discount.

The wedding consultant was very helpful and patient during my 2 trips to the store. THe dress I decided on was one she pulled for me. It wasn't exactly the siloette I was looking for, but they were able to alter it from an A line to a modified A. My dress came a week before the date they set and they were able to get in all my alterations in time. I am very happy with my service.
GUEST

I was very disappointed with Weddings by Debbie. My initial experience was great. They were the third place I went to, and I bought my wedding dress from them. My consultant was great, and very patient and kind. She helped me find the perfect dress for my big day. However, once I had to deal with the pressing department, I dealt with extremely rude people. My dress came in only 3 weeks before my wedding day and it took 2 and a half weeks to alter it. Once I was ready to make my pressing appointment, they told me that I was crazy for thinking that I could have it pressed in such a short amount of time. The lady I spoke with was so rude to me over the phone that I ended the conversation in tears and was completely stressed out. I will never recommend Weddings by Debbie to anyone.
GUEST

Don't get me wrong, the wedding dresses here are beautiful, but the service almost makes you not want to buy here. I found a dress I loved at Weddings by Debbie and had to have it, but after buying it, I wish I wouldn't have. The dress was beautiful but the ladies that work there are very rude. They didn't treat me like a special customer, and made me feel like spending 900 dollars wasn't good enough. They also treated my mom kind of ugly when she went in with me to pick up my dress for Bridal Portraits. First of all the lady at the front acted like I was supposed to know everything that was going on -- I have never been married before (probably like 95% of girls who come here) and I have never bought a wedding dress before so i didn't know the whole process of picking it up, making appointments to come in, having to check it out if I wanted it pressed or steam cleaned, I didn't know that alterations there were goign to be 300 dollars extra. They didn't explain anything to me about the after-process of buying a dress, just were focussed on getting my money anyway they could. I ended up finding a place in Richmond, TX to do my alterations for 75 dollars!!! A huge price difference than Weddings by Debbie, who acted like I HAD to get my alterations there, and were so overpriced. I don't know, I just feel like customer service should be a large part of your business, but when you are dealing with rude employees, or ones who look like they are judging your every question and move, I wouldn't recommend this place to any new bride.
GUEST

my dress was perfect... It cost a whole lot but that is any place. There is a wide selection and they do a good job on alterations and everything.

Jean Glasscock helped me chose a dress....she did a fantastic job of digging through their inventory to find me the style of dress I was looking for. She was very helpful when making my final decision and gave me suggestions on ways that I could alter the dress to make it slightly different than other girls might have worn
Lupe is the one and only seamstress at Weddings by Debbie. This has its pro's and con's. The pro's are she was the only one making alterations to my dress, she made sure it was exactly what I wanted. If something wasn't right she made it right. The con's - sometimes they would overbook or previous appointments would run long. But she did a fantastic job
I would have like to receive a better garment bag to store my dress in, but that was not provided. I also ended up spending more on alterations than my dress cost in the first place
GUEST

Huge variety of dresses for all budgets! My dress was a gorgeous Audrey Hart that can only be found at Weddings by Debbie. The alternations department has the sweetest lady.

WBD has a wonderful selection of dresses. The problems begin after you purchase the gown. We were told by the sales staff that a bra could be sewn into the gown. When we went into alterations they said it could not be done. Fortunately, it was unnecessary. Next we went to purchase a veil. After working with the sales staff we decided to use a family vintage veil. The sales staff said it could be altered by WBD. Well, when we brought it in for the alterations, the alterations department said they won't alter vintage veils. Finally they agreed to do the alterations. When we came for our second appointment the veil was not altered because they forgot what they were going to do to it. Obviously there needs to be better communication. Another problem with alterations is they over book appointments so you need to get the first appointment of the day or be prepared to wait. Some of the bridesmaids had problems also. I must say the quality of the alterations was excellent. We just had to go through a lot to get it done.
GUEST

Wedding by Debbie is a fantastic place to buy a dress. I know it doesn't look like a fancy place in Uptown, but trust me, they carry the same designer dresses and you get equal, if not better, quality of service. They do amazing alterations in store, plus they store and prep the dress for your wedding day-all included. And not just your dress-your bridesmaid dresses too. I am so happy with my experience there.
GUEST

This is a great place that has a lot of variety, from $500 dresses to $30,000 dresses. Weddings By Debbie is a very professional place along with a very nice staff, some a little more friendly than others, but overall its a good place to go for a Wedding Dress or any other Special Occasion Dress that one may need.
Once, I purchased my dress the Customer Service level did go down quite a bit, which I was not to pleased with being the amount of money I just spent on my Couture Maggie Sottero Wedding Gown!
However, this could have been the affects of Prom Season, which was a NIGHTMARE for any Bride that walked though that door. My advise would be to get your Dress and Alterations-$$$ done before or after Prom Season.
GUEST

This store has a great selection of dresses in all price ranges. My sales person Jen was very helpful and patient. They dress was scheduled to arrive 4-6 months and it took exactly 6 months to get here. The only downfall was I think there alterations were a bit pricey. But I didn?t trust taking it anywhere else to get it done. They did a great job as the bottom half of my dress is complicated b/c it has an asymmetrical layer, so the hem and bustle was a lot more detailed. I would buy my dress and do the alterations here again. They also had the lowest price on my dress in Houston (there was a 10% discount if I bought within a couple weeks).
GUEST

Weddings by Debbie did a wonderful job with my dress. I ordered a beautiful Maggie Sottero gown that was strapless. The seamstress at WBD did all of my alterations and suggested that because of my large chest, we should add straps. This was a lifesaver. There was no way I would have been comfortable on my wedding day without them. She was very tactful when she brought it up to me and made the change just one week before my wedding. When I picked up my dress, veil, and shoes, everything was clean and pressed beautifully. Would definitely recommend. Note - get your alterations early. It cost me a lot because my changes were <1 month before the wedding.
GUEST

In the begining Weddings by Debbie was great but after the purchase it was not that great. My dress had to be altered 2 or 3 times. I found stains on it 3 times. They were always coming up with additional charges for everything. Like buying the entire thing with the petty coat and the alterations wasn't enough. It might have been just me. They do have nice dresses. Dannielle, Missouri City, TX

We took a dress off the rack and they completely customized it---changed the back, the type of neckline, everything to make it exactly what my baby girl wanted for her dream dress. Very affordable and great selection.

I bought my wedding dress at Weddings by Debbie and had the alterations done here as well. I don't really have any complaints. The saleslady was pretty helpful in bringing me dresses and recommending some that I might like. She also gave me very honest feedback on what would be more flattering on my body type. Some brides don't want to hear it and/or will get offended, so really honest feedback isn't generally doled out by saleswomen. If you want this type of honest feedback, ask for it! I'm very thankful for her advice regarding the dress style and color. Honestly, I had no clue what color of white would look best, so it was very nice to have her professional opinion. In addition, I found out that a drop-waist dress would make me look even shorter (I'm 5'1"). Alterations were great as well. I didn't buy my veil here because they're ridiculously expensive.

This salon is very professional and helpful. It so happened that when my dress came in it was a size too small, but they handled it and ordered the correct size dress and it will be here this Friday! Thanks!

Everyone at the shop was very helpful and Trish helped me in and out of several dresses before I found one that I loved that was in my budget. They had a wide variety of dresses for any budget. The alterations department was great and they stored my dress at the shop until my wedding day.
GUEST

I highly recommend Weddings by Debbie as the place to buy your dress! But go shopping at other vendors first. If you can find your dress at somewhere cheaper, like David's Bridal, go for it! Why look at the more expensive dresses if you found one cheaper you liked? Also, get an idea for which dress or which style you like before you go. If you buy your dress from Weddings by Debbie the first time you go try them on, you get a 10% discount. I actually found my dress at a boutique downtown and tried on tons of dresses at Weddings by Debbie before finally settling on the same dress I found somewhere else. But I bought from Weddings by Debbie because it was cheaper with the 10% off.
Very professional service. My dress was actually made hem to hollow, and it was too tight at my first fitting. They remeasured me and I'd actually lost .5" around my waist, so they let out the dress for free. I have actually heard of brides coming from Dallas and Austin going to Houston and buying their dresses at Weddings by Debbie because it has the most selection in Texas (other than maybe David's bridal).
GUEST

I am very torn with this dress shop. On one hand, both the bridal department and the alterations department are wonderful. I could not have been happier with my dress and alterations were always handled well. On the other hand, I was very disappointed with the bridesmaids department and the management there. Jenny and Sousha were less than helpful when one of my bridesmaids dresses came in in the wrong color.
GUEST

I went to several bridal boutiques before going to Weddings By Debbie and could not find what I was looking for. As soon as I walked into WBD I saw what a wonderful selection they had and knew I had some good options. What I liked about the salon was that they had both high and low end designers there. I found the most beautiful dress there that I fell in love with that was very affordable. The staff at the salon were very helpful and attentive. I received such a deal on my dress that the alterations was what made the attire costly. You are welcome to go to another alterations shop but I stuck with it for the convenience. Overall I was very pleased with the salon and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a wedding gown.

At the first time I went the lady was a bit overbaring but nice. However once I said I bought the dress things went down hill FAST. Once my dress came in I wanted to try it on to see if it fit and get the busle done. At first I was told no, in a very harsh attitude. It took me calling every day for almost 4 weeks to finally get someone in the alterations department. AND I have left messages on the alterations department's machine with all my information. It took me going to the shop and saying I was going to the Better Business Bureau.
I picked out the bridesmaids dresses there as well, before all the headache with my dress. I made a 1 hour appointment first thing in the morning. I got there about 5 minutes early and only had my mother and matron of honor shopping with me. We were there for 15 minutes when an attendeant walks up to me and says " I have a bride with 7 girls coming they're a little late but once they get here you're gonna have to leave." I was furious! I told her I made an appointment for this time I am following the rules of 3 dresses a time and place them back, I have one girl trying these dresses on, there are multiple dressing rooms, I am staying for my entire appointment time. Anther sales woman walked up after and said that woman has a history of an attitude with customers, and told me to continue.
When their dresses arrived we received one the absolutely WRONG size. And the shop did not want to help resolve the situation, but told my bridesmaid we can order another but you'll have to pay for it. After a week of arguing and evidence they finally reordered the dress and it arrived in the correct size.
My mom found a dress she loved there and was about to purchase when they said it had been discontinued. They took her name and number to call after they talked to the maufacture to confirm. About a year later we still haven't received that call.
I walked in one day to a bride in sobbing tears because they told her one thing and now changed their tone. It took a bit for me to calm her down. Her problem was with the alterations department. The alterations manager began to yell at me when I was trying to calm her down!
These people may be nice at first but once they have your money they become something else entirely. They were rude, had no professionalism, and horrible attitude problems.

Fell in love with the first dress I tried on.

Weddings by Debbie is one of the only bridal shops in the Houston area that has all of their dresses out of the bags, so you can actually see, touch and get an idea of what the dresses look like. They have reasonable prices and VERY helpful staff. The only 2 complaints I have are:
1. Bridal "stuff" is sooo expensive, so just keep that in mind. You don't have to buy everything from the bridal shop...have a friend/relative make the veil, for example, and save yourself $300+. But that is just the business...not Weddings by Debbie's fault.
2. The Alterations Dept. is very busy (like the entire operation), so you have to book WAY ahead of time to get any little alteration done...that is understandable. What is not understandable is the lady who heads up the phones and appointment booking...she is really BAD about mis-scheduling people and forgetting details to tell the head seamstress. Just an FYI, because other than that, this is a WONDERFUL store.
Overall, the experience was really good.

The shopping process was the best part with Weddings by Debbie. I went on a weekday, and the place was empty. I had the entire store and dressing area to myself, which was amazing. My consultant took her time and did not rush me. Wonderful!
The dress fit perfectly based on their measurements, and the only alterations I needed were for the bustle. Please note that you will have to meet with the alterations department at least three times: once for the first fitting, once for the bustle, and once for the final fitting. For this reason, they should be EASY to get in touch with, but they were not. When you call the number, it's automated. You're supposed to leave a message and hope you get a call back. I could never seem to get a human being on the line. It was so frustrating! I would go weeks without hearing from them, and then when they'd finally call back, they'd say there weren't any openings on their calendar for the next month. It's not like we didn't try to get in touch with them earlier! Goodness.

Weddings by Debbie in Houston was great! They have a huge selection of bridal gowns and bridesmaid gowns. The service was awesome. My dress looked amazing on my wedding day. I had many alterations done, and the dress fit perfect! They have their own alteration department, and they are quick and affordable.

Be aware that this boutique caters mainly to prom go-ers. I liked this shop because they had many of the wedding party designers we were interested in. They are open only limited hours on Saturday, and Sunday is dedicated to prom in the spring only.
My biggest complaints:
1) They didn't return calls timely. In fact, I finally got a call back from the alterations dept. 4 weeks after the event.
2) I tried on several stock dresses of a particular designer, and it was clear that this designer cuts small. The staff took my measurements and determined the dress size. Add the fact that the dress I chose was rather form-fitting, and I ended up with a dress in my normal size that was like a straight-jacket. By the time they got back to me for a final fitting, I had one week to go on a water diet so as not to rip the dress. AND, this dress was in a satin fabric that could not be let out. Clearly, they should take the fabric and designer into greater consideration when placing a non-refundable and non-alterable order for their customers.

I have to say I liked Weddings By Debbie at first. The lady who helped me try on dresses was really sweet and friendly. I did find a dress that I liked for a reasonable price. HOWEVER, once you buy the dress, it's an ENTIRELY different story...it's like they know they've got your money, so they just don't care anymore. First of all, the alterations area is not private AT ALL. In fact, it's in the middle of the prom section, so the entire time the head seamstress (who is a royal snit, by the way) is pushing and pulling on you, you have 17 year olds with their male prom dates running around!!! Even David's Bridal is more private (we got the Bridesmaid's dresses there, and they were MUCH more professional than WBD!). Even the lack of privacy would've been somewhat tolerable if the head seamstress (I think her name was Lupe) was even remotely polite or professional. She would yell out (and keep in mind there are other girls sitting right behind you waiting to try on their dresses, as well as their families, including boys and men) all these negative comments and was rude to her staff associate in front of everyone. She has a poster on the wall behind the counter saying how brides come first...HA...that woman doesn't know the first thing about being polite or courteous to others...she should be FIRED!! I would NOT shop at Weddings By Debbie because of the head seamstress alone! Plus, they nickel and dime you for EVERY LITTLE THING! And at the end of it all, she didn't even know to do the neckline that I had asked for when I purchased the dress!!! Would NEVER come here again!

Weddings by Debbie was a dream come true. I knew the designer that I wanted, and was so worried because it was going to be well over my budget. I didn't expect to find anything at Weddings by Debbie, and the first dress that I tried on was by the designer I wanted and was on sale!
Heather, my consultant, was a wonder and called me to let me know my dress came in, helped me put it on numerous times for various family members, and always laced it all the way up and took no shortcuts. She was incredibly patient & kind. The general manager gave me a great deal on top of the great price of my dress and greeted me by name every time I came in for something. I love how you just browse and move the dress onto a rack and Heather came behind me and moved the ones I liked to a dressing room--no awful lugging around huge dresses like at other places! She had me try them on cheapest to most expensive since I was budget conscious, and had great ideas for different ways to bustle the dress.
My dress was cleaned twice and pressed twice--for my bridals and for my wedding. It was presented so neatly and Heather wrote a great note on my hanger that made me smile when I unwrapped my dress.
It truly is a great place with people that make you feel that only your wedding matters. It was a bargain on cost and I did not have to worry about storage of my dress or cleaning!]
I thought finding my dress would be a long process and thanks to Weddings by Debbie, I had it picked out in less than a day.

Weddings by Debbie has an excellent selection, and their seamstress is absolutely fantastic, as is their pressing department. They have trouble with answering the phone or taking appointments over the phone...so if you need to get in your best bet is to just show up and make your appointment then. Once you are there, though, their service is top notch.
The team there did an excellent job working me in to their overly tight schedule and made my wedding day a real success.

I loved my dress but I was highly disgusted with the service and the employees espcecially in the alterations department.

I found my dream dress here. They have everything you will need from the shoes to the jewelry and all other accessories. They were very professional and did a great job with the alterations.

I had the most amazing experience shopping at Debbies. They were very kind and patient. Both of my parents were able to participate and watch me try on the different beautiful designs. When we found "teh one," we all knew it and Debbie's helped make the day wonderful!!!

Gorgeous dress- only place in Houston that carries Audrey Hart Couture. Huge selection, helpful staff, all in one dress stop.

The best experience of the whole planning process. WBD was SO HELPFUL and WONDERFUL!! Debbie herself is the most kind, helpful person!! HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMENED

Oh my gosh--I have never seen such beautiful work as I have by this vendor. Three of my friends, including me, have found our dresses at Weddings by Debbie and all have been beautiful. I actually asked for some specific alterations and they accommodated me to the point where I wanted to extend them an invite to the wedding.
I wouldn't necessarily recommend them for bridesmaid dresses-overpriced and not good service/communication. However, for wedding dresses, they were great.

Weddings By Debbie is such a beautiful boutique. They have a great selection of dresses. Their Audrey Hart selection is the biggest and best in Houston, maybe Texas because of a long and wonderful relationship they have with her. The saleswomen are very nice. Alterations is great too. I didn't have to have any alterations, just my train, which was 10 feet long! The bussle that they did for a train that long was amazing. I would highly recommend them to any bride in the Houston area.

They were great when I went for my wedding dress, but for my bridesmaids it was not great. One of my bridesmaids got her dress altered there. She came in to try it on and they altered. she came back to try it on again and the eye and hook had broken off, so they told her to come back and get it. She came back and got the dress. On the day of the wedding the dress did not fit!!!! They had altered it again!!!! It did not need to be alterd again, but the hook and eye needed to be fixed. So basically they took in the dress TWICE!!! She was very embarrassed!! My mother had to cut out the paneling in the inside of the dress. Still, she was very uncomfortable the entire night. I was very disappointed. Make sure when you go back after getting a little thing fixed, to try it on!!!!!

I used Weddings by Debbie for my dress, veil, petticoat, earrings, tiara, necklace, bridesmaids dresses, shoes, and alterations. I will say the markup is ridiculous, but you'll be hard-pressed to find a dress salon that isn't like that, and I was too scared to trust the internet. My dress was a steal though. Only about $700 and I got a 15% discount for finding it on my first appointment with them, which is some incentive. It actually happened to be the very first dress I tried on. There were some things I wish I had looked up though before I bought them, because I could have ordered them online. For instance, the shoes. I did end up doing that for the bridesmaids' shoes after I overpaid for mine. Anyways, they were very professional and do have everything in one place, which is convenient. They stored everything and pressed the dress twice and the veil once all for free.

Best prices and biggest selection that you can find in the Houston area! I came in with no idea what I wanted. My consultant walked aroud the store with me, trying to to get ideas of what I liked and didn't like. When she came up with a recommendation based on my body type and preferences, I instantly fell in love with that dress and bought it on the spot. They offered me a small discount, free storage and 2 free pressings. I enjoyed working with this salon and would recommend them to anyone!!

Wonderful bridal shop. Their staff is very friendly, their dresses range from very affordable to expensive and they really aren't pushy. I didn't like that everywhere else I went they sneered when I'd pick out a cheaper dress to try on. At Weddings By Debbie, they let you try on everything and they don't try and steer you towards anything. That was appreciated. They can be hard to get an appointment with, so call early!
