Evie was great! I explained my wacky idea for a wedding cake, and she made it come alive! I had her submit a color sketch of my idea to verify we were on the same page, and she complied. I asked her to practice making icing Hokiebird feet tracks, and she did! My cake was amazing and I was thrilled! Even if you've found someone else, go to her cake tastings, because she brings out a tray with every flavor of cake she makes, and every flavor of icing/filling and you get to mix and match at the tasting! You get to choose two fillings and 1 cake flavor per tier. I had three tiers and it was enough for 150 people. She owns her own restaurant, so you don't have to worry about home bakers who may have dogs running around, and/or construction work going on in their house (dusty dog hair cake, eww!).

Our experience with Evie was fabulous from start to finish. The cake tasting was informative (and delicious) and throughout the process she was very easy to get a hold of. At the wedding the cake was beautiful and tasted great! I have gotten many compliments on the cake.

Our wedding cake was absolutely delicious. Our caterer who cut and served the cake said she had never seen people eat as much cake as our guests. We had 3 flavors - Better than Sex wth Cannoli Cream filling, Strawberry cake with cream cheese filling, and Coconut cake with Coconut filling. All three flavors were absolutely amazing.
Evie was great to work with. She warned me in advance that because we were having an outdoor reception it would be difficult to do a tiered cake and have it stay gorgeous with the heat/humidity. We chose to do 4 deconstructed tiers. Our reception was outdoors and we had found tree cake stands. Evie decorated the cakes with gorgeous foundant leaves to match our decor. The cakes were not only gorgeous, but delicious as well!
The prices may seem high, but for wedding cakes they are actually very reasonable. I was "shell shocked" when I heard how much our wedding cake would cost, but I can assure you it was money WELL SPENT and the cakes were worth every penny. There was not even a crumb left at the end of the night! Some of our guests had 3 pieces each!

Aside from the dress, our wedding cake was probably the only other biggest splurge for our wedding day; if I could go back now and have the opportunity to go with someone else, I wouldn't. The cake tasting was amazing... and overwhelming. Evie provides a sample of each cake, frosting, and filling and you can mix and match as you please. She allows approximately 1 hour for your consultation and will answer your questions as she can.
We ended up having a three tiered cake, each tier being a different flavor. We chose a marble cake with chocolate ganache and coconut filling for our top tier (which we ate ourselves after the wedding). The second tier was yellow cake with caramel filling and the third was devils food cake with raspberry filling and cream cheese frosting. The entire cake was covered with fondant, the bottoms wrapped with purple ribbon, and small beading around the bottom of the ribbon.
I was always told if you want to make sure one thing is great at your wedding, it's your cake because people will remember if it's bad. Well, people will always remember my cake as being unbelievably delicious. There's really no way around it, Evie makes an amazing cake. It looked great, but more than that, it tasted FANTASTIC. It was a little pricey at $4.25/slice but it was worth EVERY slice and I had some left over! Thanks Evie!

Wildflour made us a beautiful and tasty cake for our wedding. It looked exactly how I wanted it to (even better actually) and was the best tasting cake I've ever had. They delivered it to the venue the morning of and I didn't even have to worry about it getting there because I knew they were on top of things.

We absolutely loved our cakes. The wedding cake was not only completely gorgeous but was delicious. Our guests confirmed this. The groom's cake was decorated perfectly and also tasted amazing. The only thing we wished was different was for the country club to have cut larger slices of cake for the guests. They pretty much cut slivers instead of pieces so we have a freezer-full of cake left over. That's not too much of a problem though because we will eat it ourselves. The only thing I would recommend is suggesting how large to cut the pieces so the bride can tell her cake cutting service how to do it. The cakes were absolutely perfect looking and tasting though!! They were all we had hoped for!!

If you are getting married in the Roanoke area I cannot imagine using anyone other than Evie at Wildflour bakery. We presented her with several pictures of what we wanted (multi-tiered, multi-shaped, extremely tall with detailed scroll work) and she completely delivered. Not only was it gorgeous but everyone said it was the best wedding cake they had ever had.
We tasted cakes from 3 or 4 other vendors in Roanoke and nothing even came close to Evie's cakes. Her selection is awesome and the buttercream is to die for. I cannot say enough wonderful things about Evie and her wedding cake skills! She was definitely one of our top vendors for the whole event.

Evie at Wildflour was absolutely lovely! She listened to me and, after adding some much needed input and advice, presented the cake I wanted! It was layered with different flavors and fillings (4 teirs) and was the most beautiful cake I had ever seen! My guest thought so as well. The price was pretty much right on what we discussed. She will NOT disappoint!

Wildflour and Evie provided a beautiful and DELICIOUS cake! My husband and I wanted a simple cake that imitated our favorite desserts: Wildflour's mint and raspberry brownies. Evie was flexible and creative, helping us mimic our favorites in a cake form. The cake was a big hit among our guest and received many compliments on how every part (cake and icing) was delicious and how they wanted seconds.

Evie of Wildflour baked a wonderful two tier cake for our August wedding. It had an almond pound cake with ganauch and bavarian cream filling topped with a dense chocolate cake with chocolate chips and pecans with raspberry and chocolate mousse filling with wonderful ivory butter cream icing and hint of pink rose floral swirl. The cake was memorable and we also will get a cake just like our top tier for our first anniversary. coool! highly recommend Evie, top drawer baker. Thanks Evie!

Evie baked a delicious & moist 3 tier yellow cake with chocolate icing (the brides childhood favorite). She was able to incorporate the wedding dress design in the frosting and utilized bright tropical flowers to match the wedding decor. the bright colors provided a visual "pop" against the chocolate icing! The grooms cake was a square wrestling mat cake with the bride and groom topped grappling in the center circle.The rich "better than sex cake" was dark chocolate with chocolate chips, nuts and a fudge-like frosting.... rich and delicious...Highly recommended!

Wildflour Bakery was wonderful to work with from start to finish. Evie did a spectacular job on the cake (exactly what I wanted!!!). The cake itself, was phenomenal! Throughout the evening family and friends could not stop commenting about how moist and delicious the cake was. It was my first experience at a wedding where the guests were requesting to have more cake. I would absolutely recommend Wildflour Bakery for your wedding cake!

The Wildflour Cafe is a local restaurant in the Old Southwest neighborhood of Roanoke, VA. For $10/head, we got an abundance of assorted sandwiches on freshly-made Foccacia bread, a wonderful dill and feta cheese pasta salad, tortilla chips and an incredible fruit salad. They are also able to do wedding cakes. This was a cost-effective way of providing excellent food for our guests and suited our outdoor Spring wedding perfectly!
