Wyndham El Conquistador
I had a great experience with El Conquistador. I worked primarily with Patricia Villali, Doris Jimenez, Ivelis Crespo & Madeleine Trinidad, all of whom were very responsive to the most part, and very professional. They seem to keep fairly strange hours as they constantly have out of office replies up, but I'd guess that's because they have to be there for the weddings on nights and weekends. The location, food and ambiance were beautiful and well worth the exhorbitant costs. They charge you service fees on service fees, but I suppose that's to be expected at a resort. Since it was a destination wedding for us, we invited a fraction of the people we would have, so we could pay 2-3 times the cost, have an amazing event, and still have saved money overall. I would completely recommend doing so! Just recognize that you can't control every detail the way you would be able to if you were planning a wedding in your own backyard. Unless, maybe if you use the expletive of a woman they call a wedding planner, Jessica Rivera from Fantasy Flowers. I found her to be extremely unprofessional and rude, and that was when she would respond to my emails--maybe once every 4 or 5 emails. I heard a terrible story about her too, exploiting a poor bride who found herself in a bad wedding planning situation for $1000s of dollars.
Destination wedding is the best way to go! I got to spend a week with my family and friends at a beautiful all inclusive resort (world class golf, spa, private islands, 9 amazing pools, casinos, nightclubs, many resturants and more!) Everyone got to relax and get to know each other rather then cramming everything into one night! The night of the wedding we got to dance and have fun rather than walking around to each table to say thank you and rush to see everyone who attended!
The wedding planner helped you with everything and it was all at one place!! We got to do our food tastings, meet the cake designer, videographer, priest, photographer, etc....all at one place! It was amazing! I wouldn't do it any different!!!
The El Conquistador did an excellent job with our destination wedding. We handled every detail by email which worked out great for me. An rain storm caused our location to be moved to a covered patio but the El Con staff made sure that I would have the most beautiful wedding ever despite the rain. The food was yummy but a little pricey. The El Con also did a wonderful job helping us with our paper work. I only wish we could have talked with the officiant before the wedding. We would have liked to have changed some things in the ceremony.
