YMCA of the Rockies Estes Park Center
The Y was perfect for our wedding. No wedding is low stress but the whole feel of this place is so calming plus it's very affordable. The setting is rustic and majestic and we loved that everyone could stay in the super cute cabins and lodges so no one had to drink and drive. Plus it ended up being a nice weekend long celebration and all of the kids had a blast. There's so much to do.
Catering: Awesome. What a great value. 20.95 a plate for an outstanding dinner. We had guests tell us that it was some of the best food they have ever had at a wedding. Can you believe how affordable that is? So impressed. We did add an appetizer which was also VERY good. The staff was efficient, hard working, and so friendly. TIP: Trust the catering manager on the menu selection. Let them tell you what's best.
Staff: Total pros and very friendly. Amber in catering was nothing but amazing even though do hundreds of events and seem to keep very busy. They get busy in the Summer so just be patient, they will make it happen for you. Emily is my kind of no nonsense get things done kind of gal and between the two of them they made planning the event very easy.
We had a very elegant yet laid back wedding and we did for a very reasonable price here. We had a blast! It's no New York ballroom but it is a very special and unforgettable place if you're into mountain weddings.
It was so great, we're going to come back on our...
We are so happy we chose the YMCA to get married at! They did an amazing job with everything and were very flexible with all requests. They put on a spectacular event. The only issue I had was that sometimes our catering manager was difficult to get a hold of, but the banquet captain was there to help with everything we need. We highly recommend the YMCA. It is also great for brides on a budget!
The YMCA of the Rockies Estes Park Center is a great value for your money. I will admit that the food during regular buffet hours left something to be desired, but the food for our wedding was wonderfully done. I would suggest trying their basil gnocchi pasta. At times I wished that it was easier to get an immediate response for YMCA staff, however, I never had e-mail/phone call go unanswered. The only part that I found difficult was blocking rooms. If you are not friends with procrastinators, this problem might be avoidable. However, our wonderfully colorful friends tend to put things off to the last minute. It is important to have your guests book their hotel style rooms in your block prior to one month before your wedding. In addition, do not count on many cabins to be available April 1st when they become open to nonmembers of the YMCA. Other than that, the YMCA was extremely tolerant of all of our guests. They had a blast and so did we!!
What an amazing place to have a wedding! Could not have asked for a better, more beautiful location!
Overall, YMCA of the Rockies is a beautiful location to have a wedding! The site coordinator Emily was fantastic about getting back to me all throughout the wedding process, via email and phone. She would even respond to my questions on days off! The food was also great on our wedding day, we had a Buffett with steak, chicken, mashed potatoes and Mac and cheese(which was a little bland).
However, the professionalism of the workers the day of the wedding was terrible. We would ask for simple things, like a table cloth and have no response or prompt action. The staff seemed lost not knowing were things went. One occasion my wedding planner asked for a simple cover on the cake table and was yelled at by one of the event helpers that she was asking too much.
All unprofessionalism aside, they set up all the centerpieces for us and cleaned up the linens afterwards for...
I chose to have my wedding reception at the YMCA of the Rockies largely because it was much, much less expensive than almost any other option. That being said, there are certain elements of having a reception there that feel like you are getting what you paid for. If you are on a tight budget and have some extra help from family and friends, this is the perfect place. If you have a bit more money, you may wish to go elsewhere.
I don't think that I could have had a reception (that included feeding guests) for less anywhere. The total cost per head shook out to about $25 per person... which included food, non-alcoholic drinks, linens, silverware, etc. The cost for renting the room was $500, and we were able to start setting up the day before and were able to come get everything the day after. I am fairly convinced that very few places would let you do this... especially for such a low price.
The food served was fantastic - even my snobby foodie type friends said so. We served entrees of roast chicken, pepper steak, and BBQ pork, and there was also roast sweet potatoes, pasta primavera, a salad bar, steamed veggies, and a fruit tray. The chef is clearly very talented.
They were very flexible with letting us drop off decorations early and pick them up late, as well as letting us set up our own "popcorn bar".
This is probably the only real negative about the YMCA. It would usually take several calls or emails for me to get a response from the people working there. They did very little set up - thank goodness I had a lot of very kind relatives in town to help set up! Finally, they were almost non-responsive during the actual reception - we had to hound them to set out water and to get out the wine we purchased, and they ate a large amount of the popcorn I made for the reception before the reception even started. It was a bit embarrassing that guests were having to ask me for simple things like water as the night went along.
All in all, the price and food are great, and if the catering staff could get their act together this would...
A beautiful setting to have a wedding at a very reasonable price! The guests loved the mini vacation!
I highly recommend Snow Mountain Ranch for your wedding location! It is in the Rocky Mountains, and the views are stunning. There are several ceremony and reception locations to chose from. Danielle was very helpful throughout the entire planning process. She assisted us during our rehearsal and during the actual ceremony - she made sure everybody started walking when they needed to. We had a bit of a rain delay and remained calm and professional, and found a covered space for our guests to wait the rain out.
SMR allows you to bring your own caterer and alcohol, which saved us a ton of money!
If you are looking for an amazing, gorgeous place to tie the knot look no further!
This site was the absolute best choice we could have made. The wedding was amazing. We wanted to make it a destination-type wedding where guests would come up for the weekend and get to know each other and this site made it perfect for that. We had guests canoeing, playing volleyball, had a 30 person kickball game and people on their own went hiking, running, and horseback riding. This way the weekend was about the wedding, but also about the experience of being in Colorado and having a vacation.
Other great things:
The area is so beautiful and it provided the best backdrop I could have hoped for, we even did not reserve a separate ceremony site and just did it behind the tent. The area worked great, it saved money and the staff was fully supportive it this.
The price was almost half of any other one we looked at and then they even gave a 50% off discount when we had our guests make lodging reservations.
The tent was super easy to set up, and the staff delivered what we needed to make the set up easier. We thought we would not like the turf floor, but didn't even notice.
The customer service was awesome ans super responsive.
I FULLY RECOMMEND THIS SITE!!!
I am really glad we decided on this venue. The main things we wanted were: a place that didn't have a lot of restrictions on the vendors we used and a place with lodging for all our out of state guests. This was just the place. They were really flexible with us. We originally planned to have the wedding at Columbine Point and the reception in the tent. Well, Spring in the mountains is a little unpredictable and the weather in the two weeks before hand was bad so the road to the Point was bad and the tent couldn't go up because the ground was frozen! The wedding coordinators were right on the ball though and made suggestions for where we could have our wedding. We chose the Wildflower Chapel for the ceremony and a Reunion Cabin for the reception. We couldn't have been happier, it worked out wonderfully.
The wedding coordinators, Danielle, was wonderful. I asked a million questions and she always got back to me pretty quickly. She wasn't in the office everyday, but her voicemail always said when to expect her back and I usually got a call that day or the day after. They just hired another coordinator, Ashley, so this will probably speed things up. I only met her on the few days before my wedding but she was great too. Danielle even took pictures of the plates and cups provided in the reunion cabin for me so I could go out and buy a couple more of them to match (they provided 45 of each and I was expecting about 55 guests) and measured all the tables for me. And they coordinated the rehearsal and the ceremony for me! We didn't really know what to do but she was just - "It normally goes like this but you are welcome to change it any way you want". And the ceremony turned out great.
The lodging was excellent. We stayed in Indian Peaks Lodge (the recently remodeled one). We didn't expect much from a room from a camp, but it was actually nicer than some of the Best Western's I have stayed at.
And the prices were great compared to what's in the area.
All in all, I would whole-heartedly recommend the YMCA!
Snow Mountain Ranch was a beautiful setting for our outdoor wedding. Danielle was very helpful and took care of the small details that had not yet been carried out quickly and efficiently. She coordinated the rehearsal and ceremony for us and this was a very nice extra perk that I really appreciated.
We got married at the YMCA of the Rockies at Mountainside Lodge. It is beautiful and is registered on the historical registry! We had 360 degree views of the Estes Park Valley and of Rocky Mountain National Park. Since it is a lodge all of our immediate family and some close friends stayed up there- I think it can sleep 44 people. The booking staff is great! Sara Keabler saved my life! Also the pastor there Bill Huth married us and he was also fantastic! My only complaint is there special events woman- Teresa. She is disorganized and doesn't really know what she is talking about. The good thing is if you don't use the Y camp for catering you don't really have to deal with her. Overall I would recommend this venue to anyone! It was the perfect day!
Stacy was AWESOME in helping us with everything that we needed to pull off a unique wedding
I got married at SMR in October 2009. I can't say enough about the location, the facilities, or the staff. Everything was fantastic. All of my guests commented on how nice everyone was up there, and they were nothing but helpful to my husband and I as we planned from a distance. I would give them 100 stars if I could.
We had our reception in Legett Building, and it was a perfect site for our group of about 140 people. I thought there would be more guests or I would have picked a smaller place. But Legett is billed as accomodating up to 250 and I think there was definitely enough open space there to hold that many. The ceremony was at Columbine Point, which was amazing. It is beautiful and very spacious.
My husband and I, along with some of the wedding party and our families, stayed in two seven bedroom cabins, which were clean and comfortable. My only complaint about them was the shower heads - weak water pressure and they kind of sprayed all over. But that could change anytime, as I mentioned it when I checked out, and I would definitely go back again without a second thought to the shower heads. Most of our guests and the rest of the wedding party stayed at either one of the lodges or one of the smaller cabins, and I heard nothing but compliments from all of them.
The only other thing to be aware of is that most of the smaller cabins and the rooms don't have TVs. We had a small TV in the large cabin. If you are a techie family you may want to think about that - but you don't go up to the mountains to enjoy the TVs, I guess.
The location was perfect. It is slightly further than Winter Park from Denver. Easily accessible from Denver and DIA. You are definitely "away from it all" but still close enough to drive to Fraser or Granby for supplies or a bite to eat. However, SMR offers just about everything you need. There is at least one restaurant/cafe, and a convenience store, at the main lodge. And some of the rooms include meals, I think. (not sure about all that as we brought our own food to the cabins.)
Overall, I can't say enough good things about Snow Mountain Ranch and will definitely be back for family vacations. Highly recommended!
I grew up in Fraser, CO and had my wedding at Columbine Point. The view is stunning, and it gave me chills to walk down the road and isle. It is surrounded by aspen trees, has an incredible view of the mountains, there isn't a car or building in sight, and it is incredibly Peaceful. If you love the outdoors, this is an excellent choice. I worked with Stacy, who was very helpful and welcoming. It was cloudy and rainy all morning, but right before we started our vows, the sun peaked out of the clouds and shined down on us and everyone gasped! It was such an awesome moment that everyone will remember. Mother Nature at work!
For a wedding on a budget, fantastic natural surroundings, and a spot where the whole family can enjoy the whole wedding weekend, you can do no better than the Snow Mountain Ranch in Winter Park. Our outdoor ceremony was rained out and we still had a fabulous time!!!
This Venue was the most beautiful place I have ever been and I had my dream wedding at the Sarah Smith Outdoor Chapel. Just a small group but it was amazing!
We had a wedding with 130 guests at Snow Mountain Ranch. The value we recieved was great, and all of the wedding guests had a great time. Most of the families even said they would be returning for their vacations in the future. Most of the families stayed in the cabins on site. We had our rehersal dinner in one of the cabins, wich worked out great, and had great views!
The wedding coordinators underwent a staff change while we were planning our wedding and we had some frustration in being able to get ahold of anyone for wedding planning purposes, however once the new coordinators came on board, the communication got a lot better. The wedding coordinators did a great job setting up the outdoor wedding site to our liking.
Our reception was catered by the onsite staff at Schlessman commons, and they did a wonderful job! They were extremely flexible in menu planning and in getting everything done. Nancy (the catering manager) was always quick to return phone calls and was extremely helpful. SMR does not provide or serve alcohol, however you are allowed to bring your own, and they graciouslly allowed us to store it in their walk-in cooler.
Steve, the on-site chaplin, officiated our wedding and really did a great job. He was friendly, open minded, and tailored the ceremony exactly to us. We had somewhat of a unique ceremony, and he made it work perfectly.
All things considered, Snow Mountain Ranch was a great place for our wedding. Our guests had a great time, they were extremely flexible, the views were outstanding, and the costs were very reasonable.
When I first started working with this vendor they were transitioning to a new person for the wedding coordinator position so I did not get call backs or responses to my email. After the new girls came in - Brandie and Anna - they were amazing and answered all my questions almost immediately.
We did our grooms/rehearsal dinner and our wedding ceremony here. The ceremony was out at Columbine point and was amazing. the groomsdiner was at one of the BBQ pavillions and the Y catered it - they did a great job! it was great service and the food was soooo goood!
for the wedding - Columbine Point is beautiful and they had a podium for us to use. I did think it was kind of a rip-off that they wanted to charge an extra $50+ for cushons on the benches....we didn't spring for that because our ceremony was only about 20 minutes long. There is not much flexibility with the location - you have it for two hours and that's it unless you want to pay for another block of time. We did also reserve the on-location chapel for an extra $100 just in case it rained, it was nice to have that back-up plan. It was very secluded and quite and we didn't have to worry about random people eves dropping in on our wedding because it was so far back in the woods. there were also a couple people helping us (the coordinators) and telling the wedding party where to be and when, which helped a lot wiht nerves.
it's a beautiful cite but book it early if you want it and keep in mind the mountain afternoon rain!
This was a very disappointing experience. The location was beautiful and that was wonderful, unfortunately the quality of service provided by the wedding planners at this location almost ruined it. We were promised the bench seats would have pads provided for an extra fee and that there would be an aisle runner, also for an additional fee. We agreed to pay, months in advance, however, at the wedding neither was there! The planners were very disorganized and we were clearly not a priority. We started late because we had to scramble to make due with what was provided and then, as we were taking pictures following the wedding, we were rushed out of the location for another rehearsal. When I contacted the department to make sure we were not charged for the missing cushions and aisle runner I was promised a free weekend in one of the cabins to make up for the terrible service, this never actually happened and when I called to arrange it I was run around for over a week before I gave up. This location is VERY disorganized and the staff is so transient that you can't be sure that anything you have arranged will actually come to fruition.
