A Winter Wedding at Home
There's nothing like a little wedding while you're home for the holidays! (expert advice)
For an inexpensive but extremely personal wedding, get married at home during the holidays. Set the location at the home you grew up in, or perhaps at the house you and your fiancé have already purchased. Family is getting together this time of year anyways, so why not plan your wedding around it?
For this simple ceremony, the bride wore a Melissa Sweet bridesmaid dress (available at http://www.theenglishdept.com/), special ordered in a cream color (only $250!). A tartan shawl (from http://www.scottishweaver.com/) and a pair of wellies completed the look. Once inside, the bride wore a pair of sparkly flats. The morning of, we gathered greens from the yard for the bridal bouquet and wrapped a plaid ribbon around them. The groom wore a suit he already owned.
The benefit of staying around for the holidays and getting married is that the house will be decorated for Christmas already! We just added a few more baskets of greens and lit some lanterns on the front porch. Inside, we filled the house with votives and holiday greenery.
There are so many financial benefits to planning your wedding this way, but most importantly, it will be memorable and very personal.
