Most brides feel many different things as the big day approaches – from stress and anxiety to panic and the overpowering suspicion that something has been forgotten. Considering the huge responsibility that comes with planning a wedding, these feelings in minor form are pretty normal. However, if these feelings don’t let up or subside any, you may want to take a closer look. Are you getting cold feet?

Taking a Break

If you are getting cold feet, one of the reasons could be the stress involved in planning a wedding. When you’re being pulled in a hundred different directions and overwhelmed by wedding cakes, favor ideas, honeymoon destinations and budget concerns – the best thing you can do is take a little break.

Spend the weekend relaxing and thinking of anything but the wedding. Perhaps a few days at the spa or enjoying some other relaxing activities would be a nice vacation from wedding-related chaos! Once you’ve taken a well-deserved break, your jitters may subside.

Speaking to Other Brides

During your wedding planning, you probably have a lot of contact with the women in your family or group of friends – from your mother and/or sisters to your mother in law, aunts and even grandmothers.

If you’re getting cold feet, it may help to talk about it with the women around you who have been there and experienced what you’re going through. Hearing their stories and laughing about what may seem silly now can help you feel better and understand that every bride goes through a case or two of the pre-wedding jitters. A strong support group is a great thing to have as well!

Journaling

One other thing that can work wonders if you’re getting cold feet is a journal. This will allow you the chance to record any feelings or concerns you may have while you’re planning your wedding. Not only is journaling a great way to vent, but it’s a great thing to keep as a memento. Years from now, you can share this journal with a daughter or future daughter-in-law who may be experiencing some pre-wedding jitters of her own!

Marriage is a big commitment, and the fact that you’re getting cold feet is a sign that you realize how big of a commitment it really is. This is a good thing because marriage is certainly not an event to take lightly. Remember that most brides go through a jittery period, and using the tips and suggestions above can help you manage and relieve your jitters!
