Arlington Wedding Planning: City Highlights
Arlington is home to national treasures like Arlington National Cemetery, the Pentagon, and the Tomb of the Unknowns. These attractions and Arlington’s close proximity to D.C. make it a popular location for tourists. If you’re planning to take advantage of any of Arlington’s luxurious hotels for your wedding day, it’s a good idea to make your reservations well in advance.
There are several places in Arlington that can lend resources and inspiration to your wedding planning. Fashion Centre at Pentagon City houses a number of fine jewelers, specialty shops, and bridal boutiques. Ballston Common Mall also boasts a number of wedding-related retailers, as well as the Kettler Capitals Iceplex – the practice and training facility of Washington’s professional hockey team.
Arlington Wedding Planning: Weather Considerations
Several months of warm, pleasant temperatures may encourage you to plan an outdoor Arlington wedding. From late April until October, temperatures range from the 70’s to near 90 at the peak of summer. Unfortunately, rain is also common during these gorgeous warm weather months, particularly in May through September. If you’re planning an outdoor wedding in Arlington, keep an eye on the forecast and consider alternative arrangements like an indoor venue or party tent rentals.
Arlington Wedding Planning Resources
While you’re planning your wedding, you will constantly be on the lookout for inspiration, ideas, and wedding resources. Take advantage of events and festivals in Arlington to meet with local caterers, photographers, and other potential wedding vendors. Ballston’s annual Taste of Arlington street fair (held each spring) offers the opportunity to sample the menus of more than 40 area restaurants, for example.
Wedding fairs, bridal expos, and designer trunk shows are also a must if you have the chance to attend. The Great Bridal Expo is held in nearby Alexandria, and the Washington Bridal Showcase is the largest wedding fair in the D.C./Arlington area.
