Wedding centerpieces are an important part of the decor; providing a beautiful and elegant touch to tabletops, buffet tables and more. The traditional centerpiece is composed of flowers and for many brides, this is perfect. However, if you want to add a unique twist to your wedding, there are some great centerpiece alternatives!

1. Floating Candles

This is a very easy and strikingly beautiful centerpiece idea. Simply use decorative glass containers and fill them with water. Then, place several floating candles in each container and light them. To make this centerpiece idea even more beautiful, color the water to match your wedding décor and ring the glass container with pillar candles. This is a great idea for a nighttime reception or indoors if the lights are dimmed to create a romantic effect.

2. Seasonal Items

Rather than centerpieces with flowers that are in season, why not use other seasonal items? For instance, a winter wedding with pinecones, cinnamon sticks and berries incorporated into the centerpieces would be lovely. For a fall wedding, try making beautiful candle holders from gourds by carving out the middle. Combined with colored leaves, this would create unique and gorgeous centerpieces.

3. Fruits

Using fruits in combination with other items can create very attractive centerpieces. Apples or peaches in glass containers or carved fruit can all make striking centerpieces for tabletops. Combine this with the floating candle idea for a beautiful look! Simply fill glass containers with different kinds of fruit, fill them with water and place a floating candle on top! This is a really cute idea for wedding centerpieces and stands out from the traditional flowers.

4. Personal Items/Hobbies, Sports, Etc.

Another great idea for centerpieces is to make them personal or related to the couple. For instance, if the groom is an artist, why not use art-related items. Using paints, small canvases, pastel pencils or other art related items would make a great and personal centerpiece. This same idea can be used with anything the bride and groom may be partial to – sports teams, books, a certain kind of hobby, etc.

5. Tiny Wedding Cakes

If you want to be truly unique, you can create gorgeous and edible centerpieces by opting to have several smaller wedding cakes rather than one large one. Order a special cake for the bride and groom, then use small, decorated wedding cakes for each table. Not only does this create a beautiful centerpiece, but guests can serve themselves the cake!

For great alternative centerpieces, use one of the ideas above or let them stimulate your own creativity to make something truly special for your wedding!

alternatives to floral centerpieces can be so pretty! Some of my favorites that I have seen have been lanterns with items in them (sometimes flowers, candles, shells, etc.

I also love fruit centerpieces! I also once saw a pic of artichoke centerpieces and they were awesome!
