Paper flower boutonnieres are fun and easy to make. They'll add a touch of charm to any wedding. Don't feel limited to paper though! Use feathers, beads, seashells, whatever strikes your fancy!

• Tissue paper (in similar colors)                        $.99 pack of 10 sheets
• 18-guage cloth covered stem wire (pack of 12) $1.49
• Artificial stamens (pearl topped flower sprays)   $1.99

Optional Moss-Wrapped Boutonniere:
• Green Floral Tape        $1.49
• Sphagnum Moss          $2.49
• Crochet floss/thread    $1.60
• Craft Glue                  $.99
• Succulents, interesting leaves and foliage Free (or purchase for approx. $1 each)
• Scissors

Quick Tip: For a masculine touch, use slow-wilting succulents, sticks and leaves from the garden to embellish the rustic boutonniere.

All materials were purchased at Michael’s with the exception of tissue paper from a local art store and live plants are from the backyard. With the supplies listed above, you can make more than 10 boutonnieres for around $12.  If you don’t have a personal garden to pilfer, check out the dollar store, home improvement stores or your local nursery for interesting succulents on the cheap.

For Paper Flower Boutonniere:
Step 1: Secure 12 stamens (or 6 pairs) onto stem wire using green floral tape.

Step 2: Cut several 2” x 3” and 1” by 2” rectangles from tissue and fold each piece in half lengthwise. Trim one end to be rounded and twist the blunt edge. Choose similarly-hued tissue paper to add depth. Attach petals one at a time from smallest in the center moving out to the largest, taping twisted ends onto wire.

Step 3: Fluff out petals.

Step 4: Wrap the stem of the finished flower with floral tape, inserting the foliage as you wrap.

For Moss-Wrapped Boutonniere:
Step 1: Glue leaves on back portion of flower and secure around stem with floral tape.

Step 2: Once glue is dry, wrap the taped stem with moss, wrapping crochet thread to secure. Trim the moss on top and bottom of stem with scissors.
