DIY Wedding Challenge 2010: Cake Topper Us!
How we made cake toppers of ourselves! (community article)
My fiance and I wanted to make little versions of us for our cake topper, so we decided to make them out of paper!

Materials:
- Heavy cardstock paper
- A printer
- Opaque watercolors (goache)
- Paintbrush
- Paper glue
We did some research on some cute paper models we could follow and finally settled on this one:

If you are unfamiliar with papercraft, it is the art of folding models out of heavy paper. A good introduction on how to start making papercraft can be found here.
My fiance says he made our heads a little bigger to make them even cuter! We printed the models out on card stock and started painting:

The hair was assembled separately. The pieces were glued using the paper glue.

Putting together the body. My dress was made out of toilet paper! (Shhhh!)

Coming all together! Unfortunately, I didn't snap a photo of them, when they were all done, but here's a photo of it on the cake on the big day!

Look how happy we were to see them! :D
