DIY WEDDING CHALLENGE: Terrarium Centerpiece
(community article)
This is a simple project that show cases beautifully and can be gifted for a birthday or even made into centerpieces for your wedding, rehearsal, or shower!
Materials:
Glass container with a wide-sized vase. (these can be found just about anywhere right now; TJ Maxx, Marshalls, Ross, Michaels, JoAnns, Home Goods...just to name a few.)
Several small indoor plants (I purchased the below at Lowe's but you can find them at any local nursery or Home Depot in addition to Lowes.)
Potting soil and a handful or two of small rocks (again can be purchased from such stores as Lowes, Home Depot or your local nursery.)
A yard of 1.5" ribbon in your color of choice.
Start by washing your class container so that all dust and particles are removed.
Create a layer of rocks in the bottom. This will serve as drainage for your plants.
On top of the rocks add a good amount of soil so that your rocks and soil combined fill about 1/3 of your container...or slightly less.
Dig small holes in the soil and insert your plants where you want. You can even break apart the plants if they are too big for the space.
Move the dirt around the roots of the plants and gently pat down to secure the root system.
Add moss to the top of the dirt to finish look.
Use a spray bottle to water the plants and to free the sides of your glass container from any remaining dirt.
Tie your ribbon around the outside of the container into a medium sized bow and cut the ends to the length desired.
