Father Daughter Dance Songs

carolin V... there is a song by Luther Vandross called "Dance with my father again". It is beautiful and brings tears to my eyes everytime I hear it, I think you will like it too.

This is something I have been thinking really hard on because my dad and I are extremely close and I want it to be perfect. I'm struggling for multiple reasons though. We're having a 20's inspired wedding and all of the music will be old school, so I really would like it to fall right in with the other music, but I'm not sure if my dad has the same taste. I just want it to be the perfect song in both of our eyes. Any suggestions? It doesn't have to be a song with a father daughter meaning necessarily, but just a pretty song would work too! Thanks!

I thought about which song my dad and I would dance to for a long time. Though I am really into music, my dad isn't at all.... but the one thing he IS absolutely obsessed with is the New York Yankees. He's been a diehard fan for life, and loves when I call his cell phone because he's programmed his ringtone to "New York, New York" (the song they play after every Yankees home game). Though it doesn't have that "father/daughter sentiment" to it, it means a lot to him and to me. It's not a traditional choice, but I know he's going to light up once I tell him I'd like to dance to his favorite song in honor of his favorite team. Plus, there's a really fun opportunity for some kickline theatrics at the end :)

CarolinV - my best friend just got married this weekend, and though she had a father-daughter dance, her mother struggled with breast cancer for years and my bride wanted to share a dance with her mother as well. My friend selected "Like My Mother Does" by Kristy Lee Cook, and the dance they shared was beautiful. If the two of you like country music at all, you might find this song appropriate.
