Gathered Flower Bouquets
Assemble your own large gathered bouquet for a fresh look! (expert advice)
For a fresh, sophisticated look, we love a large bouquet with a short dress. Luckily, a large, gathered flower bouquet is easy to make! And, paired with a vintage wedding dress, it's ultra charming. Both of these bouquets were around $50 to make.
Here's how to make one!
You will need:
Aprox. 35 stems of flowers including a mix of fillers, vines, and round flowers. See flower recommendations at the end of article.
Clippers
String and/or floral tape
Ribbon
Condition your flowers by re-cutting the stems, removing leaves towards the bottom of the stem and letting the flowers sit in water overnight in a cool, dark place. Lay your flowers on a flat surface and create the desired shape of bouquet. Put the vining or smaller flowers at the bottom to create a V shape. Add the fuller flowers towards the top. Tie the stems together at the top and then clip the bottom of the stems to make them even. Add a flowing ribbon.
Flowers that work well for this project:
Roses
Dahlias
Clematis
Pee Gee Hydrangea
Lilac
Dendrobium Orchid
Viburnum
Honeysuckle
Mock Orange
Feverfew
Keep your bouquet in water and in the shade until right before the ceremony! Also, always keep your flowers away from food and fruit when possible. They will last longer.
Enjoy your pretty bouquet!
