Niagara Falls is the original honeymoon destination. Here's what to expect if you decide to go. (expert advice)

After the wedding, it’s finally time to relax! With a Niagara Falls honeymoon destination, you and your groom are able to get away from it all, spend some great quality time together and enjoy being husband and wife.  With breathtaking views and plenty of things to do, this is a great honeymoon destination for any couple!

Niagara Falls Honeymoon Packages

One of the best things you can do if you plan on honeymooning in Niagara Falls is purchase an all-inclusive package.  Because this is such a popular place to spend a honeymoon, major hotels have created packages for couples that are romantic and complete. It’s also a great way to save money on your honeymoon.  For instance, some hotels include the room price, meals, champagne and strawberries, shuttle passes and attraction discounts or coupons.

If you’re just about budgeted out after the wedding, this is a great way to see one of the most beautiful sights in the world and save money.  Check on honeymoon packages with features that suit you and your husband best.

What to Pack

If your Niagara Falls honeymoon will be in the middle of summer, you will need light clothing such as shorts and t-shirts. Bring a few dresses or skirts to enjoy dinners out with your new husband. You may also want to bring a light jacket incase you feel a chill.  Niagara Falls honeymoons in spring or fall will require a jacket, longer pants and probably a few sweaters.

Clothing that you can layer is a good idea in these seasons as the temperature varies.  In winter, a thick coat, gloves, hat and scarf are all must-haves.  Be sure to bring a camera to capture the beauty of the falls – whether you’re on the American or Canadian side!

Things to Do

Because Niagara Falls is such a tourist attraction, there are many different things to do. Check out the strange records and displays at Ripley’s Believe it or Not Museum or try your luck at the Casino Niagara.  A favorite among tourists and honeymooners alike is the Maid of the Mist boat ride – which takes all day and costs less than $20 at most times.  The IMAX Theater will provide you and your hubby with some exciting entertainment and fun – while the butterfly conservatory will inspire wonder and enchantment!

Be sure to bring your birth certificate and identification with you so nothing will get in the way of you and your sweetheart enjoying the perfect honeymoon destination in Niagara Falls!

I loved Niagara falls and thought it was very romantic.  Yes it is touristy and lots of people but we had a great time.  We stayed on the Canadian side and our room had a gorgeous view of the falls in an awesome hotel room that had a huge jacuzzi. The White River walk and Maid of the Mist are a must!!  We do enjoy gambling so we did that for a while.  We found some great restraunts also.  But really the majority of our time was spent alone just enjoying the beauty of the falls.  For a honeymoon Im not so sure Id go but just for a vacation, I'd totally recommend it.

I disagree as well.  There's a couple nice hotels, and a really nice casino, if you gamble. The Falls are beautiful but so jam packed with tourists, the falls end up being wall to wall people.  However, a good place if you want to save money and are close enough to drive.  I enjoyed Niagara on the lake, ontario wine country.  It's just a short drive from the Falls and has many bed and breakfasts and wineries, which is much more romantic than the crowded falls.

One big thing this article does not mention, is that you need a PASSPORT, a birth certificate will no longer work when traveling outside of the U.S.!

Hmm... I disagree.  Besides the waterfalls, there's not much else to do but shop, drink and gamble.  The view of the Falls from the Canadian side is much more enjoyable, but the city itself does not promote a "honeymoon" type atmosphere.  It's not at all romantic.  It's more like a "spring break" location.  I completely disagree with this article.
