The winners of this giveaway are: she.creates.eleven and Sara0914. Congrats!!

So.. I've always been a bit of a hippie.  In high school, I was in denial of my true nature... but I guess it was pretty obvious when I gave my first love a rain stick for Valentine's Day.  I thought it was the best gift ever... I'm not sure he agreed.

Lucky for me, vintage-indie weddings, crafts, and gifts are so very popular. So now I can be loud and proud about what I love.

I went snooping around Etsy and some of my other go-to hipster resources and thought I'd share some of my favorite Indie Valentine's Day gift ideas for the love of your life.. nieces.. best friends, whoever is on your list.  Plus we've got a wonderful giveaway from Simply Hue as a way to tell you how much we love you, our dear readers.

Kate

If you're like me.. and you want to give your FI something he will love.. but you simply can't pull yourself away from clicking around etsy all day... never fear.  You can find cool man gifts on etsy, like this reclaimed wood desk caddy by Peg and Awl

Handmade gifts from the heart are my absolute favorite, but I have this lame habit of heading out to the craft store... buying a boatload of fun craft supplies.. and then never actually finishing what I set out to make. Or, worse yet, I finish it and am not in love with the finished product (shouldn't have taken those shortcuts)!  That's why I think Blurb is so cool.. you can easily create a memory album and have it professionally "published" into a coffee table book.  (Less room for error)! This would be a great Valentine's keepsake... you could tell the story of your relationship.. include pictures of Buster, your first 'child,' you know, something cute like that.

Mmm I really really love this print from Simply Hue.  She's got so many other cute ones, too.  I think I'd quite like to frame it and hang it on my ceiling above my bed, so it was the first thing I saw every morning. : )

Ok.. all joking aside, we are giving away two of these pretty prints... as a thank you for being so loyal and wonderful and supportive of each other. Alright, alright, enough already.. but you guys really are so great. (and loved).  To enter to win, leave us a note in the comments below, telling us the best Valentine's day gift you ever gave or received! We'll select a winner at random on the big day, February 14th, 2011 at 12pm PST.

Don't forget to stop over at the Simply Hue shop and blog to check out the goods and say hi!

I spotted these cuties over at Ruche in their home section.  I think they would make a great container for a gift of truffles, hot chocolate, tea, coffee.. something yummy.  Never underestimate the power of chocolate and a cute mug to boot.

While shopping at Anthropologie yesterday.. I came across the book, I Like You, by Sandol Stoddard Warburg. Umm.. so cute.. "I like you and I know why... because you are a good person to like." And it just gets cuter from there.  If you're a silly type, you'll just love it. You can also find it at Barnes & Noble.

Beatles anyone? I found Abbey Road vinyls and vintage-y turntables at Urban Outfitters... you don't even have to hunt! (Although hunting for authentics is oh-so-charming). This turntable is also USB ready... Sigh.. the best of both worlds, especially if you're in a time crunch.

And last but not least.. how romantic would it be to give your love a leatherbound journal... a place for him to create or daydream...?  Maybe it's a place where you journal about your life together...the things you want to do... I found this one in The Black Spot Book's etsy shop.

I can't wait to read about your most cherished Valentine's day gifts in the comments below. Have a love-filled week!

I've never been a fan of valentines day, but last year my fiancé had to go to Cambodia for work. I was at home with our twin 2yr olds and was feeling sorry for myself so invited my best girls round for an evening of tapas and champagne.
I woke up to my cell phone alarm on valentines morning (which I haven't set since having kids!) and when I looked at my phone my fiancé had set a reminder alarm which said "I know I never make big romantic gestures on valentines day, but I needed to make sure you knew (even though I'm so far away) you are my world and I love you with all my heart"

Cute!!!!!

My most memorable valentines day was last years :) my fiance made me a candle lit romantic dinner, gave me my favorite flowers (tulips), a huge teddy bear that I keep on my bed every night, and chocolates of course. Oh and a digital frame with all of our pictures in it :) by the way I love that "you are loved" frame...so adorable!

My best Valentine's gift was lunch at the Boardwalk in Santa Cruz.  Wearing a t-shirt at the ocean in rare February sunshine? Yes, please!

The best Valentine's Day gift I ever recieved was 3 years ago my fiance (boyfriend at the time) suprised me with a "Day of Beauty" at a local spa.  He wrote a letter explaining to me what my gift was and left it on my bedside table waiting for me when I woke up.  I went to the spa and got a massage, facial, mani and pedi, and hair cut and style.  It was an AMAZING day and I am so thankful to have such a thoughtful man in my life. ;)
