Preventing Wedding Theft
(community article)
Hey Ladies,
After reading a post about a stolen cardbox... I went ahead and did some research on how to avoid theft
Basically,
1) Set up an online registry and have gifts sent directly to your house or a relative's house (especially if it's public knowledge that you will be on your HM!!). Consider storing gifts at a relative's house while you're on your HM as well.
2) Place gift tables as far away from the exits, and make your gift box hard to move away without notice.
3) If you can, don't have a gift table! This would work best for smaller weddings. Rather, while you walk around greeting your guests you can receive your gifts at the same time and have them taken and stored elsewhere.
4) If you are planning a larger wedding, consider hiring in security to look after your gifts and be available for those oh-too-rowdy guests. :)
5) Put a trustworthy friend or relative in charge of watching over your cardbox. Once dinner is about to begin they can take the cardbox and gifts out and stored in a secure area.
6) Consider wedding insurance... yes, they do that. :)
7) If you notice someone at your wedding who is not a welcome guest, do not ignore them! Have your reception coordinator escort them out and keep an eye open for any attempt of a return.
Remember, talk to your reception venue and see if they provide a safe room. Make sure you know who has access to this room and whether or not the reception all is liable for theft from that room.
DO NOT, store gifts in the backseat of a car in plain site and unattended... that's just dumb.
Do, take precautions to make sure your theft doesn't happen to you on your wedding day!
xoxo,
Mrs.KC
