Properly apply DIY makeup

(community article)

Ever wonder how to apply your makeup correctly if you are going in the DIY route?

I will tell you how to do so.

First wash your face, your face should always be clean before you start any makeup process.

Then start your eye makeup

You do your eyes first since eyeshadow might fall onto your cheeks during the process plus you wont smudge any of your foundation. Working on your eyes includes lashes if you want to apply them on and eyebrows.

Next you apply your moisturizer and makeup primer

Moisturizer will keep your skin fresh and the primer wont allow your foundation to come off- it's pretty amazing.

Next you apply your foundation

You will need a really good makeup brush for this. Put some foundation onto the back of your hand and dab the brush into it and smear it around, do not pour foundation onto the brush, always dab. You do not want to look like the makeup is caked on and dabbing onto the brush from your hand will prevent that from happening, also it will be more even.

Next is concealer

Apply concealer with a brush on all of the places the foundation didn't totally cover. Blend it in well.

Last is lips....

Apply lip primer first, this will allow the lipstick to not come off completely. It takes awhile to dry, once it feels sticky it is ready.

Now apply your lipstick

You can also apply lipliner to make your lips appear to be plumper. Always use the same shade as the lipstick so it will actually fool people.

Some additions at this point would be either bronzer or blush. You can use a bronzer under your cheek bones to make your cheek bones look more defined or you can apply blush under your cheek bones to make them appear brighter. I like using bronzer, it makes my face look thinner and it's good for a night out, I'll use blush if it's during the afternoon.

Now always take off your lashes at the end of the night, and never sleep with makeup on your face. Even though the primer wont allow the makeup to seep in your pores it's just not good for you skin to keep on all day and night. Always use a makeup remover to get rid of everything before bed.

Hope this was helpful!

Lets face it ladies, you will get teary eyed in some point in the night as well as sweat a little out of nerves and excitement! I would also use an eye shadow primer (urban decay primer potion is a safe bet, works excellent) so you dont smear your pretty eyes! This also makes the color more vibrant and longer lasting!
