Try This Wedding Workout: 3 Workouts to Help You Look Your Best article photo

As a soon-to-be bride, you want to look absolutely gorgeous on your wedding day!  For this reason, you will spend hours being fitted for dresses, choosing how to wear your hair and determining what shades of make-up to use.  Wedding workouts are a great way to get yourself into the best possible shape before that important walk down the aisle. Here are three wedding workouts to help you look your best!

1. Wedding Workout for the Arms

If you’ll be wearing a strapless or tank style dress, it’s important to have toned, shapely arms. One of the greatest wedding workouts for the arms uses a dumbbell for assistance – but you can use anything that weighs around 3 pounds.

Simply hold the dumbbell straight up into the air (statue of liberty style) and then slowly lower your hand and forearm behind you so that your elbow is now pointing up.  Repeat approximately 20 to 30 times – you should feel the muscles working in the backs of your upper arms.  This workout will ensure that your arms look great and showcase your dress perfectly!

2. Wedding Workout for the Belly

Making sure that your abdomen is toned and in shape will not only help you look even more gorgeous in your wedding dress – but any exciting honeymoon attire as well!  For this wedding workout, all you need is a soft place to lie down.  With your knees bent and your feet touching the floor, place your arms across your chest.  (Your left hand should be close to your right shoulder and vice versa.)

Tighten your abdomen and slowly bring your left knee and right elbow together.  You will have to lift your butt and back slightly off the floor to do this.  Then, switch sides.  Continue approximately 25 times every other day.  If you can start around 6 weeks before the wedding, you will really notice a difference!  This is a great way to tone and shape your abdomen for the big day!

3. Wedding Workout for the Butt

It’s no secret that every woman wants to have a great-looking butt and having one on your wedding day is even better. This exercise tones and firms your bottom, ensuring that you look amazing not only from the front – but the back as well!

Squats are one of the best workouts you can do for the hips, thighs and butt.  For this exercise, you simply grasp two 3-pound dumbbells and bend your elbows, pointing your hands up into the air. Your hands should be parallel to your eyes.  Then, squat down using your leg muscles until you look like you’re sitting in a chair.  Rise back up and repeat approximately 20 times.  Do this three days a week and you can bet your butt will look great in that perfect dress!

There is nothing more beautiful than a blushing bride, unless it’s a blushing bride who is firm, toned and in shape.  Do these wedding workouts to ensure that you look even more beautiful for your wedding day!

I am not sure about this dress but I know Casa Blanca has some designs using a similar material and it is affordable! Mine is Casa Blanca 1900 (similar material) and costs about $700!

I'm curious about the wedding dress in the photo. I love the dotted material. Does anyone know the designer??

The arm work out in this article is only good for the triceps (back of your arm). To tone your biceps try doing either curls or fly's.

  • Curls: Holding the weights, start with arms at your sides. Slowly lift the weight towards your shoulder/chest, then slowly return to your side. (By doing this slowly you get the maximum effect) Repeat with other arm. Do this exercise in sets of 20 every other day.
  • Fly's: These can be done laying on a flat bench, at an incline, or over the head. I would suggest varying the position to hit all muscle groups. This exercise is like doing a bench press but with out all the major equipment. Get in to position holding a weight in each hand (lay down, incline, or sitting straight up). Lift the weights so that your elbow makes a 90 degree angle, your upper arm should be parallel with the floor and weights pointing upwards. Lift the weights toward the sky and over your head until your arms are fully extended and the weights touch. Slowly return to the 90 Degree angle with your upper arms parallel to the floor. Repeat the exercise in sets 2 sets of 10 repetitions every other day.
For both of these exercises I suggest increasing first the repetitions and then the weight as you get stronger. For most women I would suggest working your way up to 15-20 1bs for a lean and toned look.  There are lots of exercises out there and I could go on forever explaining them but I'm sure you can find them on line so I'll give you some of the names and let you find them.
For your triceps I would suggest mule kicks and tricep extentions.
For the legs I would suggest lunges, squats/wall squats, and jogging/walking.
For the stomach again I suggest jogging because it does work muscles in the lower abdomen, cruches, side bends, and I'm not sure what it's called but if you suck in your stomach and hold in there for at least 20 seconds at a time it does flatten your tummy over time.

Good luck with all of your wedding fitness routines!!!
