If you're looking for a little balance, harmony, and stability for your special day, then maybe planning a green wedding isn’t such a bad idea after all. Whether green has forever been your favorite shade of the rainbow or the color simply represents your commitment to an eco-friendly life – there are many different possibilities for a green wedding color palette. As you come closer to becoming one with your love, take comfort in knowing that the color green also signifies growth – an important component in any marriage.

Why Choose a Green Wedding Color Palette?

Cultural Preference
The national color of Ireland is green and when an Irish couple wishes to pay homage to their heritage, this is a popular choice. Often paired with white, green is also a favorite with other international cultures.

Nature Lover
Of course, nature lovers gravitate to the color green, which looks amazing when paired with brown. A Christmas wedding just isn’t the same if it doesn’t utilize red and green.

Springtime Wedding
Plan a wedding for the spring season and using several shades of green seems like an easy choice. Olive green is quite the popular color when it comes to bridesmaid dresses.

Drawn to Cool Colors
Since cool colors produce a calming effect, many laidback couples plan a green wedding. Consider using blue, white, silver, and gray as accent colors for casual affairs.

Green Wedding Flower Ideas

It's such a shame that the color green is not a primary player in more wedding bouquets and floral arrangements. Green weddings go beyond the stems and leaves most likely to appear. When you wish to break away from traditional bouquet colors, get lost in the refreshing and fun look of green wedding flowers. Don't forget to also take advantage of satin ribbons and swatches of velvet for this often unexpected bridal bouquet choice. Blooms to keep in mind include:

• Rudbeckia occidentalis (also known as 'Green Wizard')
• Bells of Ireland (Moluccella laevis)
• Green Hellebores
• Green Hydrangea
• Green Orchids
• Columbine (Lime Sorbet)
• Nicotiana langsdorfii (Green Bells)
• Euphorbia
• Primula vulgaris 'Francesca'

Complementary Colors for a Green Wedding

• Green and Blue: This color combination for a green wedding suggests new beginnings and growth, and also allows couples to indulge in reception décor focused on symbols of nature, such as forests and water. Emerald and aqua is not only eye-catching, but gives you a chance to make use out of the gemstone associated with Venus – the goddess of love. Use white to enhance this overall color palette choice.

• Lime Green and Orange: Include splashes of yellow for a fresh take on the green wedding. Use a variety of citrus fruit to not only add bold colors to centerpieces, but also create a fragrant atmosphere.

• Green and Purple: This lively combination works wonders for a regal wedding theme.

• Green and Brown: For a green wedding planned for the autumn season, take a look at the yellowish green tint of chartreuse. Consider using mint green and deep chocolate brown for a vintage wedding theme.

Lindsay....if Kelly green is your favorite color than go w/it....it's your day. But, I think lime green and black would be beautiful together.

My colors, are lapis, pewter, and ivory....however my bouquet will have lots of greenery.

My colors will be kelly green, black, and white for a summer wedding! I'm toying with maybe more of a lime than Kelly - what do you think? (Kelly is my favorite color bu not sure if that's weird for a wedding color?)
