There are two kinds of people in this world, those who think shower games are fun and those who dread and abhor them. If you fall into the second category, perhaps I can entice you with a few examples -- games can be a great way to bring together a group of people who might not know one another that well. And if there's no changing your mind, at least you'll have a handle on what you might expect.

The Toilet Paper Wedding Gown:

A few designated guests serve as fit models, and it's off to the toilet paper races we go. It may sound silly, but this crafty activity really brings people together, and you'd be surprised at how creative everyone gets. Divide the group into teams, and let the most beautiful toilet paper gown win.

The Newlywed Game:

This is a game for a couples party. Though your single friends won't technically be
playing, trust me, they will get just as much of a kick out of it as the "marrieds." First, choose a few couples to play (the more gregarious, the better) alongside the bride and groom. The hosts will have prepared a set of questions for the women. Popular questions include: What is your partner's favorite part of your body? How many other men or women would your partner say you have been with? Where were you the fi rst time your partner said he loved you? What is your favorite color? The ladies write down their answers, keeping them facedown. After each question, the male partner has to guess how his other half answered and prove how well he knows her. The couple with the most correct answers wins a prize.

Bridal Bingo:

This game keeps guests entertained while the bride opens her gifts. Using bingo cards, guests fill in the blanks with gifts they predict the bride will receive. As she opens her presents, they mark off their correct guesses. The first three to call "Bingo!" win a prize.

In Her Words:

Assign someone to discreetly write down what the bride says as she opens her gifts. ("How did you know I wanted that?") Once the gifts are opened, her comments are read back to her ... as what she'll say on her wedding night.

Recipes for Marriage:

Include a blank card in the invitation asking guests to write down their recipe for a great marriage. It can be a recipe, a joke, an anecdote, or a piece of advice --"Always live in a home with two bathrooms" would be mine! At the shower, each person reads hers aloud; a bridesmaid can later turn the cards into a keepsake album or scrapbook for the bride.
