A Simple Wedding in Santorini
Turn your destination wedding into an instant honeymoon spot! (expert advice)
Consider combining your wedding and honeymoon for a low-key destination event or elopement! Inviting just a few close friends and family to celebrate your commitment in a beautiful spot ends up being more meaningful (and relaxing!).
Choose a gorgeous hotel and use that as your backdrop as well as lodging for your stay! Rates are often cheaper for large groups and in the off-season.
Make your wedding thoughtful and fun by choosing a stunning setting for you and your guests to enjoy. This hotel in Santorini, Greece, is naturally beautiful, with stunning views, and the prices are surprisingly reasonable. It makes the perfect backdrop for a relaxed event. For this wedding story, we were inspired by the sea-blue paint, gorgeous island backdrop, white stucco, and olive topiaries scattered around the hotel.
The groom wore a simple blue shirt and rolled up jeans while the bride wore a vintage dress we found at a local shop for $35! The morning of, we gathered olive branches from a local olive grove and wrapped a simple bouquet in white ribbon. The couple went barefoot to keep things lighthearted and fun!
Enjoy a simple ceremony and celebration with your friends and then you and your spouse can linger for a week or so longer and enjoy a honeymoon!
A few things to consider for an overseas wedding or elopement:
1. Every country has different rules + regulations regarding marriage ceremonies.
2. Sometimes, you must marry in your own country first.
3. Be sure to research your location or talk with a wedding planner before you plan your event.
Wherever you choose to go, it's sure to be full of memories and relaxation!
