The wait is over! The Bachelor Jason Mesnick proposed to Melissa on "The Bachelor" finale, and we've got the close-up of the captivating, Neil Lane engagement ring he chose for his new wife-to-be. Unfortunately, Melissa and Jason didn't work out and the ring is presumbaly back in his pocket for now!

About this handcrafted Neil Lane sparkler:

The marquise-cut diamond and platinum ring is encrusted with 170 smaller diamonds, while the center diamond is a 1.9-carat marquise cut.

Mesnick had three Neil Lane rings to choose from -- which also included pear and oval cut diamond options. He and his bride-to-be are in great company, as Lane has designed engagement rings for a-list celebs like Reese Witherspoon, Kate Hudson, Sandra Bullock, Brooke Shields and Jennifer Hudson.

Project Wedding recently talked to Mesnick about the girl of his dreams and what type of wedding he might have. "I am also looking for somebody who is also going to walk into a room and be attracted to everybody -- want to get to know people as she is walking around -- and genuinely care about the feelings of other people and want to get to know them."

I have to agree with Michele51983, the ring is ugly. There are enough diamonds on there to feed a good portion of a third world country. That ring screams I'm rich not I'm in love with you.
