The Story Behind Zooey Deschanel's Unique Wedding Band! article photo

Zooey Deschanel and brand new hubby, Death Cab for Cutie singer Benjamin Gibbard, put lots of thought into their wedding jewelry -- and we have the shots of her wedding band and engagement ring from celebrity jeweler Neil Lane!

The 29-year-old actress, who married Gibbard in an evening ceremony on September 19 near Seattle, worked closely with Lane on the design of her wedding band. Lane tells People that Deschanel wanted something that would compliment her gorgeous engagement ring, a 3-carat, Asscher cut diamond.

The result? Two eternity bands with alternating rubies and diamonds. "One is to wear close to her heart," Lane explained. "Gibbard really wanted to get something she loved and they wanted to choose it together, so the three of us designed it. The bands are a nice contrast to her white platinum and diamond engagement ring. The red represented a lot of love and affection and it is really unusual."

Lane also told the mag that the couple were "absolutely adorable...they're really fun to be around and are very much in love, with great energy together."
